tastes like... funny flavour associations

Gin always tasted like carrots to me (an ex always drank gin & tonics).

Seattle restaurant recommendations needed!

The pike place market really was a pleasure. I had some great handmade pastas, fresh breads, and juicy-ripe fruit there. it's rare to have so much sampling encouraged in NYC, and was nice to taste a pear before i bought it. I had a great time being a tourist there!

We had the french toast, honey yogurt with berries and apples, and some amazing sinfully rich dish called oeufs en meurette that I would kill to have in NYC. They had a decent beer selection as well, and again, amazing staff.

Seattle restaurant recommendations needed!

I did end up going to Cafe Campagne for a late Sunday brunch and found both the service and the food fantastic! I also ended up at Matt's in the Market (ok, but not out of this world- beautiful space though) and Toulouse Petit. I think my favorite meal was my breakfast of bread and fruit purchased in the market though, amazing peaches!

What a great start, I think I'll have to thank you now! I'm staying in the Queen Anne district, she lives in Fremont, but we're not restricted too much as far as distance (what's a few miles when one is flying cross country?). I'm seeing a lot of great restaurants in my searching, but really, it's always the locals who know best!

Seattle restaurant recommendations needed!

I'm visiting my younger sister in Seattle near the end of May, she's been there for nearly three years and this is my first time visiting her city. I wanted to take her out for dinner, and was looking for suggestions. Cost isn't really an issue, but I do think she would prefer a more casual atmosphere (and dress code). I live in NYC and work in the restaurant business, so I would love to experience not just great food, but something unique to the Seattle area. I'm also open to any ideas for breakfast or lunch! Thank you!

Philadelphia bachelorette dinner for a picky vegan

She orders fries, pasta (theirs is apparently egg-and taste- free), potatoes.. basically lots of carbs, and their veggie burger. She's not an incredibly strict vegan, I'm sure those chains use their deep fryers for chicken wings and french fries. I will check out Horizons though, it looks like a great option!

Philadelphia bachelorette dinner for a picky vegan

This is kind of a tough one. I have a very close friend who is getting married, and of course the other bridesmaids and I are throwing her a bachelorette party. The plan is dinner for 10-15 girls, followed by burlesque at World Cafe Live in university city. I'm the big foodie of the group, so its fallen to me to pick the restaurant. About the bride: she's very picky, vegan, and loves Fridays, Applebee's, and diners. I'm ideally looking for a place with very well done simple food. I would really like to find a nicer restaurant, tapas might be good, and spend $40-$60 per person, factoring in one drink. Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Lunch (Not Brunch) on a Sunday.

Second for Perry St. - lunches are such a steal there!

Your most embarrassing chowhound moment?

haha! Oh I did the edamame thing too, in front of my hipper-than-thou boyfriend. There is a long list of I-will-never-live-down-the-same unenlightened foodie moments with that man, but at least I came out a little more educated for my pains!

Restaurant Week--where are you planning on going?

I had dinner at the Modern monday, it was excellent! The beer braised pork belly was so good I'm still dreaming of it! My boyfriend has some really great scallops too. Definitly a place that didn't phone it in for RW. Highly recommended
