Need a restaurant rec. where we can be "loudish"

Agree on Clancy's and Emeril's. I have been in Stella in the room to the right of the entrance when it was so loud that normal conversation was almost impossible. Guess it depends on the night and the crowd.

Best places I've never been - pick one

With all of the great choices that I am comfortable with, it is always hard to step out and try somewhere different. My list of best places I've never been is: MiLa, La Petite Grocery, Pelican Club, Bistro Daisy, Eleven 79, Broussard's, Cypress, Tommy's. Are any of these worth skipping a night at Stella, Brigtsen's or Clancy's?

Tallahassee: where to go in town for seafood?

I have had pretty good food at both the Wharf and the Seineyard recently. I cannot say the same for Crystal River. Just my opinion, but I would go for a filet o fish before eating at Crystal River again.

Tallahassee: where to go in town for seafood?

Try the Shell Oyster Bar on South Monroe. It's not fancy, but the fried seafood is great.

Most overrated NOLA restaurants

Galatoire's would be a great just for the memories place without being overrated. Please post all of your son's recommendations in a new thread.

Moving my daugter to Tallahassee: Tired of the old thread

I would try Urbane on Saturday. I have been underwhelmed by Sage on each of my 4 trips there. At Urbane, I had one questionable dish when they first opened, but if I had read the description of the dish more carefully, I would have realized that I didn't want pizza with figs on it. Everything else I have had in multiple meals there has been great.

Moving my daugter to Tallahassee: Tired of the old thread

Definitely try Urbane. Z Bardhi's for Italian. Shell Oyster Bar for outstanding fried seafood. Georgio's can be good. Kitcho for sushi. Cypress is excellent. Kool Beanz is good as well.

Tallahassee, Fla. Buffalo Wings

Try Red Elephant or Rummy's. There is also a takeout wing place by Publix on Mahan that is pretty good - not sure about the name.

Nicks on the Bayou

It's on the south side of Highway 20 between the Mid Bay Bridge and the 331 Bridge. It's worth the trip!

Casamento's There is no secret to buying a good oyster, shucking it and serving it cold. The fried seafood is good, but not great.

Tallahassee vicinity: ISO one great meal - Cypress, Liam's, or elsewhere?

Another vote for Cypress. Since Albert retired, this is the best, most consistent food in town. The only problem is that the menu doesn't change enough for those of us who eat there on a regular basis. For you, however, that should not be a prroblem.

Any updates on the Grill Room at the Windsor Court? Is the food like Gabrielle or a fancier version?

Antoine's Update?

I can't help it. Four years after swearing off Antoine's for good after one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life, curiosity is killing me. Has anything improved? I keep waiting for the day that I hear that Antoine's is back.

Tallahassee Barbeque

Is there any real barbeque near Tallahassee? JB's was the closest thing I could find, but it has closed. Does anyone know of another true BBQ joint? If you are thinking about saying Sonny's, please do not reply.

For the record, the chef/owner of Cypress "started" in places like The Mansion on Turtle Creek and Criolla's (a bit above Kool Beans, as is his food).

Archibald's Barbecue,Northport Alabama

Twix n Tween in Centerville is no longer cooking on site, but the pork was as good as ever the last time I was there. Jim's Barbeque can be good as well. It is on the west side of 82 between Centerville and Montgomery.

TOP DISHES IN FLORIDA

It depends on the timing, but reservations are generally a good idea, especially if the legislature is in session.
