skeptical first timer - Dukem, Etete, or Ethiopic? Ok made reservations at Ethiopic for sat. Only had a 515, or 9 slot, and with the kiddos, don't want to wait too late. Thanks all, even though I didn't ask the original question. |

What's for Dinner #218: National Salad Month [OLD] Just bought a pork tenderloin today. Thanks for the inspiration. |

Trader joes Israeli couscous is good. |

Any low-carbing distance runners here? You made me spit out my coffee with that last line. |

Any low-carbing distance runners here? Thank you so much, I'm going to try this. |

What's for Dinner #213 - The Snoop Dogg Edition [old] Yes, it was awesome. Even better then plain old kale. |

Any low-carbing distance runners here? Ohhhh, I'd love to make my own, how? |

Any low-carbing distance runners here? I use clif shot, and clif shot blocks. They don't upset my tummy, but I definitely recommend trying them on a training run so you don't have any unexpected surprises. They are not that tasty, but really do give me a pump of energy when I'm working on those last few miles, and oh look, they added a hill. ;) I know people who use candy corn, or Swedish fish, but due to my lack of coordination, I can't chew and run. |

Any low-carbing distance runners here? I'm a runner (about 25 miles a week, give or take when I'm not in training mode) I also do the insanity workout 6 days a week. I eat pretty low carb, but do include beans, and Greek yogurt. I eat lots of protein and veggies, and usually eat a small amount of carbs ( bread, don't like pasta) the day before a race. Oh, and bananas, always bananas. I fuel during half marathons/marathons with gels, and managed to shave 12 minutes off my time at my last race. I'd say the diet is definitely working for me. |

What's for Dinner #213 - The Snoop Dogg Edition [old] It's another crazy soccer night here, therefor my slow cooker is cooking away. Browned up some turkey sausage. Sautéed carrots, celery, onion and garlic. Added a can of rotel, some broth, and lentils and cumin. Debating whether to add some greens at the end. I usually use kale, but only thing in my fridge is a kale/spinach/chard mix. I'm sure that'll work too |

Please don't hate me but I need opinions on Lucky Charms knock-offs My son can't have food dyes without becoming a hyper headachy mouthy loon. We tried the whole foods brand, and he loved them more then lucky charms. They're a little pricey, but an excellent substitute. |

Inexpensive, delicious and not melty fundraiser treats to make in advance Agreed, I can spend hours making many beautiful delicious treats, but a stupid plain tray of rice Krispy treats are always the first to go |

What's for dinner? #210 -- clever title escaping me at the moment... [OLD] It was very good. A little untraditional, but the flavor was delicious, and it was super simple to make. I would definitely make I again. Here is the link |

What's for dinner? #210 -- clever title escaping me at the moment... [OLD] Trying out the pork char Sui recipe I picked up from someone around here. Sides of broccoli, snow peas, and couscous...oh and edamame |

Need ideas of using cooked ham for dinner (not scalloped) Sauté up some carrots, celery, garlic, onion. Add cut up ham and brown. Add some white beans, a little broth to pull it all together. Throw some spices (especially crushed red pepper) in. Quick, delicious, and pretty good for you |

Rainy and cold here. Soccer canceled, so taco night is on! |

How much older are the 'older' kids. I have 1 chowhound, and 1 who has not yet discovered how delicious some food are. Even though my chow son (age 11) eats a lot of different foods, he'd probably only eat a pb& j and sweets here. These flavors are a bit above him. The non chow kid (age 13) would be filling up on cupcakes, and begging for pizza on the way home. (Neither like mayo at all, so sandwiches would be. No go.) how about some pizza or pasta item for kids who don't have such adventurous palates? (I would be all over the orzo salad) |

What's for dinner #205 / Will spring spring any time soon? [OLD] The row of peeps helped too :) grilled cheese and soup brings me back to childhood, and always helps. Better day tomorrow is our motto. |

What's for dinner #205 / Will spring spring any time soon? [OLD] Ugh, I too had 'one of those no-fun day Monday.' Dinner was vegetarian vegetable Campbell's soup and a toasted cheese with extra broily Swiss cheese. Made me feel better |

I make the smitten kitchen ones at least monthly. They are awesome, and I've never had a bad experience. |

First I slice up some turkey sausage into disks and brown. Remove from pan. Add carrots, celery, and onion. Sauté that, then add garlic. Add sausage back to pan, add tomatoes, white beans, chicken stock (or v8) red pepper, and kale. My 11 year old eats this like it's his job. Or I make this soup, also delicious. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/foo... |

What's for Dinner #203 - The Week Before Easter Edition, Part 2 [OLD] Boo hiss. First day of the boys spring break and we are being pelted by a huge snowstorm. I've got ham & lentil soup in the ninja, (finally used up the last of my ham stock I made after Christmas) watching terrible 80's comedies (Once Bitten, Weird Science) snuggled up on the couch in our jammies. stupid groundhog. |

What's For Dinner? No. 202 - The Week Before Easter Edition [OLD] Cold, and windy here still. Where is spring? Have a bunch of avocados, so decided to make some spicy black bean soup...yes just as a vehicle to scarf down avocados. Also still battling a cold might help sweat the sniffles out. |

What's for Dinner #201 - the "Spring is ALMOST here!" Edition [OLD] Apple juice (though I subbed natural apple sauce) brown sugar, maple syrup and a little cinnamon/allspice. Looking now at the ingredients I am not surprised it was overly sweet (and this is coming from someone who hoovers down candy corn) it could have used some mustard powder, but husband hates mustard, and I didn't feel like arguing. I was trying to make a glaze from stuff I already had, and that's what happened. Boys liked it though, so it wasn't a total loss. Next time it's back to an orangey honey style |

Lambertville and New Hope Restaurant Week Thanks so much Ambrose. Hoping to hit el tule tomorrow night |

What's for Dinner #201 - the "Spring is ALMOST here!" Edition [OLD] Ham, mashed potatoes, corn & carrots. Made a glaze for the ham, but it was super sweet, so I kept it on the side. The boys are nutty about ham, and it's one of the few times they'll eat leftovers. Feeling kind of cruddy, it's an easy meal night. |

The universal meal that I've found that most picky eaters eat happily is tacos. You can use any protein- ground beef, turkey, shredded chicken, beef, pork, etc... Fixings (lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, cilantro, salsa, corn, endless possibilities), hard shells or tortillas (fry up some Corn ones, or just plain flour) served with rice and if they'd eat them beans on the side. Happy kids, and delicious always. |

What's for Dinner #201 - the "Spring is ALMOST here!" Edition [OLD] Tonight's menu is shredded chicken & black bean tacos. I'll top them with crunchy slaw, avocado, cilantro and a healthy squeeze of lime. Of course at the rate I'm sneaking 'tastes' out of the ninja, I hope there will be some left for dinner |
