Fried Chicken - Twin Cities

I don't know that I would consider most of those TC. Never knew there was one in Champlain though. I transferred to MSU Mankato this semester, theres one here and I would also say that the fried chicken is pretty good. don't know if this goes for all locations but here they give discounts with college ID, on Sundays its only $6 for buffet.

Blue Door vs. NE Bulldog

bulldog, blue door PUB doesn't have brisket nachos, or dogs.

Potato Chips

if you like heat, the apple farm/candy store on 169 in Jordan has Blair's Habanero chips.

Blue Door vs. NE Bulldog

I go to BD for the brisket nachos. Dogs are good too.

Where can I purchase Instant Yeast?

Oberweiss eggnog

the one at Seward is Valley View Farms.

where did you find the autumn wood? their site listed Festival Foods in BP but they didnt have the nog, just milk, would like to try this now.

Sonora Grill

really? I've never gotten ketchup there, always one of their sauces.

Oberweiss eggnog

Rainbow does have. tried it before didn't think much of it. just got one from Seward that I liked, forgot who made it but it was one of their P6's.

Best Croissant?

Trung Nam are the best, also the best price. Rustica are just behind it. Bars make a pretty good one but at $4 something, no thanks. P46 didn't do much for me when I tired it.

Asian markets with good barbecue pork and duck

Shuang Hur has some nice roast pork, I'll sometimes use it to throw in fried rice. the duck I think you have to buy whole so I've never tried it.

La Sirena Gorda - closed

well that is unfortunate, that was a great place.

Surdyk's Liquor infuriates Surly Nation!!!

this has been a pretty odd thread.

Surdyk's Liquor infuriates Surly Nation!!!

AFAIK the 'retailer' in Brooklyn Center is Brooklyn Center. the only liquor store(or 2?) in BC is owned by the city, they didn't like Surly selling directly.

Any old fashioned ice cream parlors out there??

I too never venture from cones(always a double scoop waffle cone) but according to the website they do have banana splits.

Fried Chicken - Twin Cities

if Annies is a long drive for you this place will be a odyssey. I agree though, Annies was fairly plain, about par with Cub, if that.

Andale Taqueria y Mercado

anyone know the hours here, specifically Saturday?

Pumpkin...

yeah the pumpkin pie blizzard is a blizzard of the month this time every yeah. it is pretty good, I recommend trying it.

Pumpkin...

never been there, may have to check that out, thanks.

My own little sausage festival

RJ's in Hudson > Clancey's > the rest

Pumpkin...

who's got it, what are they doing with it?

Link to Khyber Pass!

no, they closed a bit ago. I think there's a new place set up there now.

Mexican chorizo ??

Prairie Pride Farm sells some at the StP Farmers market that is very tasty, not very spicy though.

Unpasteurized cider?

the Wedge hasn't sold it for several years. I believe it was a former worker that cleared it up for me last year, there were some legal issues. the only one for sure is the apple vendor at the St Paul farmers market that sells the cider doughnuts.

edit: nevermind, looks like a change of owners happened to that orchard. they are also no longer at StP.

don't know if they will have it raw. I guess your best bet is to call some orchards and see who will sell you some.

Sonora Grill

ate here a bit ago, just a fantastic place. I had the pork sandwich and tongue taco, both were great, fries are good too. my brother had the beef chuck roll and the special taco, a fried chicken taco...that was incredible.

need to try the rice and beans.

Our State Fair 2011: it's the Best State Fair in our State!

food finder describes it as vanilla ice cream with kernels mixed in, so maybe not so much corn flavor. never had it at Crema, Grandpa's in Fridley does one that is ok, they even describe it as cap'n crunch like. last year I think, Chef Shack did one that was pretty good.

169 twin cities to Mankato

picking up a friend from MSU tomorrow, haven't been down there in some time. anything worthwhile in town or not too far off 169 along the way?

Where to take a non-Westerner for the most "American" food experiences? Must be baby-friendly.

Breakfast: Turtle bread on Chicago, Colossal

Burgers: I think Snuffy's is a good option.

bakeries maybe, for donuts or something, Yoyo Donut, Bakers wife, Common Roots for bagels, maybe Bars for some of their super rich/sweet stuff.

Mesa Pizza to see some crazy American concoctions.

Brasa to gorge on wonderful meats.
