Langley

I am a new resident of this lovely seaside village and being a foodie have been exploring the culinary offerings here. One of my favorites is the tiny PS Suisse Bakery that not only serves up gourmet fare for lunch, ie, sauerbraten, but fresh breads, to-die-for pastries and the best chocolate confections this side of the Alps.
The owner Peter is a chef extraordinaire; his plates are a delight to behold and flavors divine. If you get the chance to visit this hard to find gem, you will not be disappointed.

Tasty Gem in Port Townsend

I and a friend recently lunched at the Fountain Cafe in Port Townsend on a Tuesday afternoon (First choice was Sweet Lorette's which was closed that day.) Lucky for us!
The Fountain cafe is run by Carrianne Wilson, a delightful woman who has created a cozy place to enjoy on a winter afternoon. The food was thoughtfully prepared and presented. Everything was fresh and flavorful and satisfying. We had clam chowder that was delicious and a composed curried chicken salad on fresh greens, with cut veggies artfully arranged on the plate; the bread was freshly made and the whole experience was lovely.
I highly recommend you you try out this establishment.

What's good in Kitsap?

Heads Up Kids! The new name of the restaurant at the hotel is Inlet Grille. I just spent an hour at their opening, and tasted the Brie & Mushroom Burger...The Best! Now listen up...the lounge is very nice and has its own snack/bar menu. What is so exciting is that they also have a fine dining area that will be great not only for anniversaries and birthdays, but Date Night. The menu and ambiance is upscale, the service is friendly and you will love the menu: Appetizers that include Dungeness Crab and Artichoke Dip, and Spicy Honey Wings; Soups/Salads: Smoked Salmon Bisque and down-right old fashioned/new age Iceberg Wedge BLT; Entrees: Choice Beef including Filet, Tenderloin or New York with choice of toppings or Proscuitto and Red Pepper Penne. These dishes are just a portion of what is offered. And you know from Hop Jack's that everything is fresh and prepared perfectly. Oh yes, as I mentioned before, the delicious breakfasts that you have been enjoying at Hop Jacks has moved to the hotel. So come on down Kitsap and check out our new "Hot Spot" You won't be sorry!

What's NEW in Kitsap?

Update regarding Hop Jacks - The owners are now the new managers at the restaurant/lounge at the 'old' Silverdale Beach Hotel. Not yet sure of the new name, but the restaurant plans to be open by Nov. 1st, with all new menu. Weekend Breakfast that used to be at Hop Jacks will be moved to the hotel instead. Some of your favorite people from Hop Jacks will be working at both places. Looking forward to trying our our latest offering in Silverdale. Hope you will all come out to check it out and give our local guys a lot of support.

What's NEW in Kitsap?

Oh, so sad about your experience at HopJacks Jimisi.
Haven't tried Arena - will you report on it when/if you go?
Had an excellent lunch Saturday in Port Orchard at the Bay Street Bistro.
Long Island Clam Chowder; light broth laced with wine and garnished with a delicious fresh baby clam-Grilled romaine half with seasoned vinegarette and large shaves of parm-pork sliders; thin slices of roasted pork loin on homemade multigrain bun, topped with carmelized sweet onions and chipotely mayo. The cafe is cozy and friendly service. Would recommend the Sat. farmers market lunch to anyone who doesn't mind hunting for a parking spot that day of the week!

What's NEW in Kitsap?

Thanks for the Sabaidee reco. Will bring more friends to it. Quite good and off street parking.
Went last week to the Tea House in Port Gamble which turns into a Bistro By Night.
They presented a 3 course meal for $38. Great value. The chef did retro gourmet fare:
Dungeness crab salad with avocado and grapefruit along with homemade bread; coffee roasted rack of lamb (popsicles) on a bed of roasted spring veggies; flourless chocolate cake with fresh raspberries, raspberry sauce and fresh whipped cream. Love these little finds!

What's NEW in Kitsap?

We went this week and really enjoyed the food and the service. Parking was small/tight but off street and free so not really a complaint there. Enjoyed the boneless stuffed chicken wings (server said that grandpa was in the back deboning as we spoke). The heat level on the curries were a bit warmer than normal. We all thought our dishes were delicious but a tad too hot for the star level we asked for. Note to self-ask for one star less than normal. Ambiance was also better than we expected. I would recommend it to anyone who likes Pho, Thai and Lao food. Thanks for letting us know about it slabbit!

What's NEW in Kitsap?

We went to Anthonys in Bremerton, even though it was crowded, service was good and menu was as always, no "Easter" specials which appealed to us. May not be your destination spot, but consistantly fresh and the view was/is the best part.
Thanks

Where Do You Eat in Gig Harbor?

Brix 25 on Pioneer is a suggestion. They have a website I'm sure you could 'google' it.
Let us know what you think if you go.
Thanks.

Am I in the "Greater Seattle" area or PNW?

That is a great question! I've been wondering the same thing. It seems they are either/or.
mMaybe just trying to split so each won't be so large?

What's NEW in Kitsap?

Do you have any recommendations for Easter dining out? Most of the things I've seen are overpriced brunches. We prepare it at home mostly, but a few of us were looking to go out.

What's NEW in Kitsap?

Thanks for the update on BB&G, haven't been in awhile. Glad they are still doing well, it is a great place to dine outdoors in Summer.
Back to Hop Jack's - I think their food is consistantly good, the french dip made with prime rib and real au ju was delicious. I hope you give this place a try. It's my new fav place in Kitsap. I don't think it is just 'another sports bar and grill'....but if that's not your thing.
Please do let us know that places here that you DO like, we all love sharing ideas of good places.

Oh, well I am a Nevada transplant so that probably explains it. In the hot desert, we loved our cold beer, ha! Anyway I have been in the gorgeous NW now about 12 years and do enjoy some of the micro brews, but still not a fan of the warmer stuff.
Thanks for your advice. And I do hope you give Hop Jacks a chance, the food isnt gourmet but is well prepared and I will be happy to have them around for awhile.

Was just trying to give out some good advice. Have you not tried the place yet? Or if you have, what is your feedback on it.

What's NEW in Kitsap?

We new have a new place which is noteworthy; Hop Jack's in Silverdale on Bucklin Hill Road where the old Sandpiper used to be. This is a brand new building with view of Dye's Inlet and lots of windows so that even in winter, you get lots of light. The food is great and the staff is friendly and very efficient. It has been crowded since it first opened about a month ago, so parking has been a challenge, but there is a very large empty parking lot across the street if you don't mind waiting for traffic to stop to cross over.
I've had their prime rib french dip, hamburger, wings, bbq chicken quesadilla and "Kyles Damn Good Sandwich". All have been prepared with care and presented well, plus the quantities are not skimpy. Have not tried their signature martinis yet, but they are presented in a two-piece glass that has been frozen so you get an ice cold drink to the very last sip. I recommend Hop Jacks to anyone who loves a great bar and grill.

What's good in Kitsap?

Had to take my car in for maintenance over on Auto Center in Bremerton about noon today.
Asked where nearest coffee shop/cafe was, and told that there was one up at West Hills Auto Center. Started walking up that way and low and behold, ran into an outside hot dog tent called Hot Stuff, right in front of Minder Meats. They offer a BBQ 1/4 pounder, Spicy Cajun sausage or Polish Dog with over 15 condiments. My lunch cost $6 and included chips and a drink. Pretty good value and the proprietors were friendly and business is fairly new. I hope you all get a chance to give them some business.

The new coffee shop in Silverdale ( Forza) is a nice addition. It mimic's the Global Bean a bit, but still not your average coffee shop. Nice selection, plus pannini's for lunch and wine and beer after 5 p.m.
Also, for those of you who used to love the Breezy Hill Bistro's dinners...they are back open once a month, the 3rd Friday with special meals at $50 a person. Well worth it!

I'm sorry no one has answered you on this. I don't live in GH so not sure what's still open or not. We did like Brix 25 (I think it is called) and the Green Turtle (?) when we used to dine there. Let us all know what you have found.

What's good in Kitsap?

The new Hales Brewery in Silverdale is our new favorite. The decor is relaxed and not overdone. The outside patio has umbrellas and plants, the inside patio the same, and the lounge is very cozy including couches and a fireplace. The restaurant has comfy booths. Food is good and the selection of beers is decent. My server "Jason" was a very sweet and friendly person and had his act together. I didn't have to wait long for my order, though the place was fairly busy. I tried a trio of samples: the Roslyn (a guest brew) was smooth, but would have been better had it been served colder. Hales Kolslch German Ale was a light lager with just a hint of hops, and the favorite was their El Jefe Weizen; a Bavarian style lager that was quite filling and satisfying. Hope you all get over to check them out. I think they are a great addition to Kitsap.

Very sad.

What's good in Kitsap?

I too have to give the Paella Bar kudos. Went last week with friends and we all enjoyed the dishes, beer, and the atmosphere. The pulled pork was delicious, as well as the clams with chorizo and fennel, the roasted crimini mushrooms, and the fresh asparagus wrapped in proscuitto. The potato tortilla was a bit dry but good flavor and their bread's topping was a bit sweet for our tastes. But overall, we felt like we had found a real gem and will definitely return to try other items on their menu. I plan to let all my "foodie" friends know about it. Next door at Burrata, the food and atmosphere is also quite good. Not your usual Kitsap places. I hope they get a good following and stay around.

Interesting Dining on the Kitsap Peninsula

Welcome home! If you haven't already read the "What's Good in Kitsap" thread as Billy Bob suggested,
here are a couple places we recommend: La Fermata (Upscale Italian) just across the Mannette Bridge in Bremerton, and we
recently have enjoyed The Patio for a wine dinner. It is located in the same area, close to the Boat Shed.
Hope you find some great dining destinations. They are here, you just have to seek them out.
Good luck! And please let us know your opinions...we love to hear from you.
