New Places in Garden City, LI
My husband and I really enjoy Sushi-Ya on Franklin Ave. and they have lunch specials. Always fresh. I would definitely give it a try. I absolutely love their special rolls...but that's not on the lunch menu.

I agree, I thought the chicken was very good. The barbacoa was good too but I thought it could use a little more heat so I put hot sauce on it and enjoyed it even more. Haven't tried the pork yet. The place looks quiet, I hope they stay in business.
Also since you mentioned the Natural market....they have surprisingly good bread and prime meats.
Best Bacon for Home Cooking in NYC
Fairway also carries Nodine's. They put it next to the salami. Very good bacon. I just had the applewood smoked bacon in my BLT for lunch.
Pastavino in Mineola- Excellent!
The new restaurant PastaVino in Mineola on Mineola Blvd. is fantastic. When I first saw it open up a couple weeks ago I almost ignored it since there having been so many restaurant changes in that location and I figured that it would be doomed as well.
The reason I decided to try it was because I found out the executive chef from Maxxels was the executive chef in this new restaurant. If you know anything about Maxxels, you know the food is great. Well, I tried this place out and I like it better than Maxxels. The Arrancini (rice balls) appetizer was the best I ever had. Perfectly crispy on the outside...light not heavy and delicious cheese meat inside that practically melted in your mouth. I was dreaming about eating these the next day....Loved them! This is coming from somebody who has family who makes them great and also I've had them in Italy numerous times. Next I had the pasta with the bolognese sauce. It was fantastic, it was made with two types of meat and pancetta. It was perfect but it had a spice to it that made it more interesting than most. The pasta was also cooked perfectly al dente. I also got a side order of there broccoli rabe...also some of the best I ever had...perfectly garlicky but what made it unique was that it was grilled.
I highly reccommend you try this place. I've been to a lot of Itailian restaurants on Long Island and this one stood out to me as one that goes a step further.
