Bridgton, ME, any chowish places?

Have heard that Venezia in Bridgton is a nice little Italian restuarant but haven't tried it myself. Based on experience, would have to agree that Bray's is really about it... the beer is good and the pub menu is standard fare and not awful. Try the sausage sampler. And for heaven's sake, stay far, far away from Rick's in Naples!

Farms that serve meals in their fields, like the show "Endless Feast"

You're in luck. Right here in CT you'll find Dinners at the Farm. Great chefs preparing the meals, great farms particpating, great locations for the dinners and best of all, the money raised goes to very worthy causes. But hurry - these events usually sell out. Next weekend's dinners will benefit the Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries and will be held in Old Saybrook, in the group's kitchen garden in North Cove - should be beautiful.

Great little restaurant between Mystic, Ct and Westerly, RI

OK, so I finally got there this week to check it out - and I have to say that that was one delicious hot dog that I was served.

A perfectly cooked, snappy, garlicky Sabrett's dog with Sabrett's mustard and red onion relish (the New Yorker) with hand-cut fries (and when they say hand-cut, they mean it literally: the cutter was broken so they were cutting 100 pounds of spuds each day with a knife - yikes!).

My friend even went back that evening with family to try the Texas Burger and raved about it. And everything was very reasonably priced, too: hot dog, fries and a drink for just about $7.00? You can't beat it.

As mentioned above, the owners are about the nicest folks you could ever meet. One drawback: parking can be tough if larger cars are blocking the back lot... there are only two spaces in the front.

Fresh Lobster- Guilford to Old Lyme, CT

Saybrook Seafood (original owners of Atlantic Seafood) in Old Saybrook is great and they are open on Sundays, too.

Special Dinner - Cafe Routier or one of the Max's in CT? Help us decide?

Yep, make it Cafe Routier.

Deutschmacher Hot Dogs

In Connecttuct but I believe Shaw's and Stop & Shop both sell them (it's all I'll buy): Saw's loose in the deli, S & S in the boxes. Also found them in A & P and some IGA's.

Birthday dinner in Old Lyme CT

ladyfemme, try Cafe Routier, on Route 1 in Westbrook - it's just over the Old Saybrook town line. Should be less than 20 minutes away, depending where in Old Lyme you are coming from. I rely on it for business dinners - and personal ones, too - the atmosphere is great, whether in the lounge or the dining room: you'd swear you were in New Haven, if not New York. There are three menus with limited options, usually three or four starters and entrees each: seasonal, themed (looks like German at the moment) and the house specialties. Be sure to try the house-made fries and ask for some chipotle remoulade in addition to the sauce that comes with. I can only vouch for the perennials - steak frites, trout, meatloaf and hangar steak - but these are all are wonderful, which is why they are always on the menu. Hope you and your girlfriend enjoy a special dinner.

Burlington - Seeking dinner recommendations

Poor dumplingfiend - most of the replies were probably meant to help. Why not try Trattoria Delia - not cheap, mind you, but in a college town like Burlington, cheap eats (and that would include Beansie's Bus) are everywhere...while dining - well, not so much. TD fits two of your three: it's not formal and it is very delicious. Suppose you could stick to generous starters and a pasta and consider it not too pricey. Have never been disappointed, and eat there every time I visit Burlington.
