Not so Glad-stone's Long Beach

Another vote for Kings and also for Parker's Lighthouse. Both far better than Gladstone's.

Boos Philly Cheesesteak

They have a Pepsi machine. They also have bottled Mexican Pepsi. I didn't see any birch beer.

Boos Philly Cheesesteak

Been to Boos twice, and they sure make an authentic Philly cheesesteak. I also like that they have Tastykakes. I preferred the Wise potato chips to the fries. They get a big plus from me!

Best Philly (style) Cheese Steak in LA?

I went to Boos today. Very impressed with them! They serve it on Amoroso buns, they're also stocked with Tastycakes and Wise chips. It's been 30 years since I've had Wise chips, as good as I remember them. I'll definitely go back for more!

Didn't know it was there. Sounds interesting and worth a try!

Short Order....Any Word???

I went last Friday, the first day they were open for lunch and had Nancy's Backyard Burger and the Spuds. I ordered my burger medium well, wow it sure was juicy and it was very enjoyable. The spuds are in a class by themselves, just incredible with the dipping sauce. Yes, I'm going back for more. I'm very impressed.

SHORT ORDER opens Nov 18 at Farmers Market.

Just came back from Short Order.

WOW!

I had Nancy's Burger and those INCREDIBLE Short Order Spuds. It's the BEST burger I've ever had. Everything meshes perfectly. The plates they serve with the burgers and fries are small, WARNING--be careful eating the burgers, they're so juicy they'll stain your shirt!

And with the spuds, Nancy has reinvented french fries. The dipping sauce is a mix of sour cream, bacon bits and chives.

The staff is very friendly. The only minus I found was that they had no diet sodas. And that's minor--they serve chilled water in old fashioned Ball Mason jars.

Nancy could teach Wendy's what "Hot And Juicy" REALLY is!

Will I be back? Oh, yeah! I'll be back!

SHORT ORDER opens Nov 18 at Farmers Market.

Thanks. Now I got something to look forward to for lunch on Friday. I bet it will be packed!

Iceberg works with hamburgers at other places. I do remember Wolfgang Puck using romaine on his burgers at the Puck Cafes, just as good. I'm sure Nancy did a lot of homework in working on the burger formulas. I'll admit that I'm really anticipating another great burger joint!

Tony, I'm curious too! When I went to the Grove this morning (Saturday 11/19), the sign indicated they would open at 5PM. Are they only going to be open in the evenings or are they still in the process of getting into full operation?

Burger Kitchen. Is it still under the crazy management from "Kitchen Nightmares?"

I don't know what the menu is because I keep getting a note on my browsers saying I don't have the correct plug in. And when I click on the link, I get a blank screen!

Wow, what Mr. Taster is posting about Short Order really has me curious to try them!

Mendocino Farms - what's your favorite sandy?

Another vote for the Steak BLT. And I also have to point out how good the sides and soups are!

SHORT ORDER opens Nov 18 at Farmers Market.

Wow, that menu has me hungry on a Monday night. And I've got to wait FOUR DAYS to try it...

Where can I find blood oranges -or- blood orange juice?

Once in a while, I've seen blood orange juice at Whole Foods. Don't know if it's in stock now.

The Burger Kitchen - Best $6 Burger in LA?

Thanks for letting me know that the management changed. I went there twice under the old management and both times were very disappointing, especially the poor service. Based on what you pasted, I'll give it another try!

Tarte Tatin

Taix has it in their dessert menu. It's something I always anticipate when I go there for my birthday!

Five Guys Burgers (Los Angeles) - New locations Planned?

I just noticed that, too. It was showing on their webpage and now the Westwood location has been scrubbed form their site!

Traditional Fresh Turkey Dinner, now in August?

Callender's Wilshire, by the LaBrea Tar Pits, 5773 Wilshire. They have a traditional turkey dinner on the menu, quite good!

Best Steakhouse in L.A?

Another vote for Taylor's from me. I've never been disappointed and it's a good value too!

The homemade yogurt at C&K (Papa Christo's)

Nice to see someone else rave abut Papa Christo's! I think Erewhon sells homemade yogurt, too. But Papa Christo's is great stuff!

Billy's Deli in Glendale -- fine catering

I've had their burgers, and they are very good. Every time I've gone there, it's been good!

Anyone Tried Fat Sal's Deli in Westwood?

Sounds interesting. WIll put this on my list to try!

Best French onion soup?

Taix is my go-to place for their Onion Soup. Wonderful on a cold day!

Fab's or Pink's spicy polish dog...do they make it themselves?

I thought Hoffy made all of Pink's franks, including the Polish dogs.

Guilty Pleasures - Foods you shouldn't eat, but eat them anyways

Paul's Kitchen--Chashu Egg Foo Yung and House Special Fried Rice...

Fried Shrimp

I agree with the Fried Shrimp at Grand Lux. Second place for me is Tusquella's at the Farmer's Market, with plenty of their cole slaw!

Question for Langer's #19 fans

I have several favorites besides the #19. I do like their steak sandwich, but I ask for their potato salad instead of the fries. If you want a REALLY BIG sandwich, order their triple decker club! I also like their French Dips and Reubens too!

Cassell's heading south

I agree. When Mr. Cassell was running the place, it was better. I can still remember his obsession with perfection. One time, I was in there with the lunch crowd when he rejected a shipment of hams because they didn't meet his standard. "They may be good anywhere else, but they're not good enough for me to serve my customers"...

The last time I went there, I asked for the #10, grilled ham and swiss. The bread isn't the same and the ham sure wasn't baked the same way, tasted like Costco ham. And the burgers don't taste the same, either. Sad...

Umami Burger - Does it live up to the hype?

I've gone to the Los Feliz and La Brea locations several times. I've had decent burgers, but the staff at both places have attitudes that definitely need serious improvement. Their saving grace is that they aren't as arrogant as Father's Office.
