Where to purchase Appletiser?
I am reporting back incase anyone else googles for Appletiser. I found it at Liebman's Deli on Memorial Dr. today! :D
I was told that they have it year round. It was expensive ($3/can) but far less than round trip airfare to England or South Africa!
Where to purchase Appletiser?
I will give Whole Foods a call again. I asked one location during the Summer and was told that they didn't stock the item. Perhaps if I try a different location.
I'd score some big brownie points if I found this! :)
Where to purchase Appletiser?
Does anyone know a local business that sells Appletiser?
I've found a few merchants online that will ship to from the UK but I'd be especially excited to find it locally.
Thanks :)
Bridal Shower in Greater Houston Area
Thanks so much for the suggestions. Hoping to hear back from a few places soon but recommendations are certainly welcomed! :)
Bridal Shower in Greater Houston Area
DoobieWah - While on the search for wedding venues, we've found a large number of properties (country clubs, golf clubs, bed & breakfast type establishments) that are sadly grandfathered due to the age of the buildings. I expect that newer restaurants won't be a problem, I just added that comment because there was such problems in finding a suitable wedding venue. My future s-i-l is completely wheelchair dependant.
What part of town - Everyone is scattered from the West side of town to north of IAH and down to Pearland. I'd imagine something more central would be ideal. In my mind, I envision the Galleria area or around Rice Village but there isn't a large collection of guests in any one area. Location is open.
I am the bride-to-be so I'm unsure what the budget would be for the gathering. I just offered my brides maids to post here since I already had a chowhound account. I am just delighted that they are offering to make this day special for me. :)
How many - They haven't told me how many I can invite but I'd expect somewhere around 25ish guests. We are definitely a casual bunch.
Thanks for any great ideas. :)
Bridal Shower in Greater Houston Area
We are looking for a location to have a bridal shower that offers full ADA accessibility and a non-spicy menu.
A private room would be ideal.
It would take place in June, so lighter fare is optimal.
Thanks for any suggestions. :)

Weekday dim sum in Houston
Is there a restaurant that serves dim sum on a weekday? I have relatives in town that would like to give it a try but Christmas and New Years' plans keep us from being able to go on the weekend.
Thanks!
Rise No. 1 What are your favorites?
It looks like we will give it a try this weekend! I can't wait!

Thanks for the replies thus far. My mouth waters just reading some of your suggestions.
Rise No. 1 What are your favorites?
I've looked at the menu for Rise No. 1 and would love to know what are the "can't be missed" items from their menu.
Likely, we would go at lunch and would definitely not skip dessert!
Suggestions?
Rack of Lamb - available on lunch menus
My mom loves rack of lamb and would like to try a new restaurant for a weekday lunch. Her dietary needs require that it not be overly seasoned.
I searched rack of lamb on the Houston board and only found two of my own posts! Searching menus online, I see it is still available on Le Mistral's lunch menu and Bistro Provence has switched to lamb shank. Chez Nous in Humble serves our favorite version of this dish but the restaurant is only open for dinner.
Any great new suggestions for us to try for a mother/daughter lunch in Houston?
Many thanks!

Looking for a Profiterole Cake in Houston, TX
I don't know where to buy one but I'd love to know how it would be served. The ones I've seen on tv look like they are fairly well cemented together. What logistics go into the deconstruction? Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. :)
One day in Conroe, Texas and where should I go
Hi Mikey :)
Just tagging along to see the responses. I don't make it to Conroe often but would love to easily find the responses you receive.
Between IAH and Conroe, you will pass through The Woodlands area. How much time will you have for your lunch break or does it need to be Conroe specific?
Early group dinner within easy distance of Riverwalk (San Antonio)
I just tried Azuca for the first time last weekend. I'd definitely go back! Their menu is available online. You can type in your hotel's address and google map it with walking directions to see if it is within a suitable proximity for you. We found it to be an easy walk and I remember a nice big table in the center of the room that should accomodate your group.
If you search by my name, you will quickly find where the recommendation was made.
I would respectfully disagree with DiningDiva on Boudro's though. It remains my top pick of restaurants in SA.
San Antonio - Where to go for a great mojito?
We finally had our much awaited trip to San Antonio this past weekend. We loved the suggestion of Azuca!
We couldn't decide upon two entrees so we asked for two plates and split them. Granted, the combination was an odd one but we loved both entrees. The first item we tried was the Cuban sandwich. Sandwich was delightful but the fries were not too special. The other entree we ordered was a salmon with crab mashed potatoes. I don't think I'll ever look at mashed potatoes the same way again! Who knew that putting crab in them would make them so special! Absolutely divine!! The mojitos were quite tasty. I had the mango and my friend had the prickly pear. Everything exceeded expectations. We split the flan since we were so full. We laughed that the dessert sampler sounded so tempting but for only 2 people, definitely overkill.
We really appreciate the recommendation! I gave it four stars for the quality of the food. If the waiter had been more attentive, I wouldn't hesitate to give 5 stars.

San Antonio - Where to go for a great mojito?
The menu at Azuca looks superb!
So many mojitos ... so little time.
Which is your favorite?
San Antonio - Where to go for a great mojito?
Several years ago we were introduced to mojitos while dining in San Antonio. Another trip is coming up soon.
Any suggestions for someplace on/near the Riverwalk that makes a can't miss mojito?
Hit or Miss at Le Mistral
My friend and I had our first lunch at Le Mistral this past week. We left there with some definite "we loved" comments and "we preferred..." thoughts. The service was slow (in comparison to French service - not just American) at some times and right on the mark at others. Inconsistent service would best describe our experience.
Our two appetizers arrived quickly after ordering. I had the seared scallops with leeks and salmon and my friend ordered the seared foie gras. She was delighted by her dish saying it was the best she has ever had. For me, the flavor of the scallops was a bit too delicate. The massive sunflower plate upon which it was served was definitely not to my taste. I think I actually laughed when it arrived at the table.
After quite a wait, for our entrees, we had the seared tuna and the rack of lamb. I enjoyed my rack of lamb but prefer it at Chez Nous and Bistro Provence. The vegetables that accompanied were nicely cooked and seasoned. There were green beans and fingerling potatoes. I had a taste of the seared tuna and preferred it to my entree which I found to be a little bland.
The saving grace of the meal was dessert. We both ordered the souffle based on what I had read online. Both the chocolate and Grand Marnier versions were divine. In a heartbeat, I'd order them again.
So, my question is - Did we order great things on a bad day in the kitchen or are there better dishes on the menu?
I'd like to go back with my mother who enjoys French food but finds the seating at Bistro Provence to be quite uncomfortable. I found Le Mistral to fit her needs better but I would like to order something that I would enjoy more next time.

I-10 from Houston to San Antonio
Filing this away in the back of my brain.
I've been the type to keep driving all the way to SA. No time to stop for food en route - but a quick pit stop at Buckees.
This thread is making me think that I'd be happy just going for a spin partly to SA.
Solo Dining in Houston
I live in Houston so I'm just filing this away for future reference. I have family scattered about town so just about anywhere would be good. I typically find myself out on the West side of town, Rice Village area, 59 North and the Museum district.
I'm open to most types of food except for exclusively vegetarian! I have a preference for international cuisines - Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Greek, Mexican are the first that come to mind.
Solo Dining in Houston
I did a few searches and didn't find anything in the last year for solo dining in Houston.
Would someone please bump up an old thread or two if I used the wrong search words and this has already been posted?
If not, what are some favorite solo dining restaurants in and around Houston?
Houston Hounds - Help requested. Italian Food for tonight.
Zorra - They were all in nice suits - even the women in the group.
I knew I was close to one of my favorite college haunts - Niko Niko's. Although it wasn't the pizza I was expecting, it is always a favorite. I've not been in months so it was still a nice treat.

What is appropriate attire for Dolce Vita?
I drove by tonight but noticed that everyone in the parking lot was far better dressed than I was so I opted to go elsewhere.
