near Reagan airport
Thank you all, am staying in Crystal City near the airport. Will travel (if easy, I don't know DC) for the best, too!
near Reagan airport
Is there anything worth eating near the DCA airport?
I'll be there for one night.
Am a big Indian/Middle Eastern fan, but am also a good foodie fan too.
Thanks

Buffalo Wings
Thanks again for the replies, wow, real Buffalo wings are something incredible. Really worth the hype. I can never eat a wing anywhere else again.
My favorites (a tie) were Gabriel's Gate and BarBill's, both a bit different, GG were more along the "traditional" saucy style and BB was dry but both were incredibly fantastic. I'm thinking of taking a vacation back to Buffalo!
Anchor Bar was still really really good, a bit smaller and drier, and the place was a bit "TGI Fridays esque" but overall I saw through the hype and had great wings.
Labatt's Blue on tap is something special as well.
I ate at Duff's and was not impressed at all. Wings were overfried and dry, the hot sauce was straight out of the bottle and even their hottest sauce was underwhelming.
Tijuana Hot Dog
I've been noticing hot dog stands along University between the 805 and 15 on the weekends at night. Has anyone tried them?
And, as an add-on question, where are the best places to get a TJ hot dog without venturing down south?
Buffalo Wings
I am planning on eating only wings for a week in Buffalo.
I am staying downtown, should I rent a car?
Where are the must not miss wing joints in the city?
I'll make my way through them.
Thanks.
Not to Miss Toronto
I will be in Buffalo for a week this Fall, and am thinking of driving into Canada just to say I've been.
Are there any must have places that someone going through should eat at, that is Canada only?
It doesn't have to be in Toronto only, maybe somewhere closer to the border?
Thanks
las vegas delivery
Has anyone had good success getting food from a decent restaurant via a delivery service in Las Vegas?
I want to have a nice meal in Vegas but can't take the kids!
Any really nice restaurants that are known for doing delivery even? Or is it a big no-no in general and it's only for lower end fare?
Thanks!
Las Vegas Chicken Wings
Thanks for the recommendations everyone. Does Main St have a very spicy option for their wings?
I'm not looking for gourmet wings, just good old fashioned bar food wings. I've tried foodie versions of chicken wings and they just don't seem to work well.
Las Vegas Chicken Wings
Vegas seems like a wing town, despite its recent remaking into a good restaurant city, where are the best (and hopefully hottest) ones?
nice dinner with kids - las vegas
thanks again all for the great recs, i've heard bouchon is kid-accessible so we'll try that and perhaps another one if that night doesn't go too badly
thank you
nice dinner with kids - las vegas
They are 4 and 1. Are there many restaurants where they wouldn't be welcome?
nice dinner with kids - las vegas
Any suggestions for a nice dinner place that would be ok to bring a couple of children to?
Ideally would like a several course wine pairing French type of dinner but don't want to spoil anyone's evening or get scorned for the children. We'll take any no-miss meal as long as they can deal with the little ones too.
Thank you chow.
Falafel in San Diego
here's a review of an area restaurant on mmm yoso

Falafel in San Diego
I've only tried the market food, whose hummus in the deli is some of the best I've had in SD as well. There is one place on the same side of the street a block or so down as the Market that is always crowded. I don't know much about Chaldean food specifically but it is quite different from the staples of Arabic food (and/but they also do all the staples as well).
Falafel in San Diego
El Cajon International Market has some of the best local falafel that I've had in San Diego. El Cajon is home to the largest population of Chaldean Iraqis outside of Iraq and as such is full of Arabic restaurants (though with an Iraqi emphasis and not a traditional Lebanese cuisine which is what most people think Arabic food is).
This market is a great supermarket but they also do shawarmas and kebabs and falafel (you can buy them separate or in a sandwich).
502 E Main St
El Cajon, CA 92020
(619) 444-5800
There are also a ton of newer Chaldean-emphasized restaurants around E Main St but I haven't tried falafel at any of them.
If you want really great Lebanese falafel try the neighborhood in Anaheim - Sanabel Bakery and/or Zankou chicken.
Sultan Shawarma
Chaldean cuisine is at its core pretty different from what most people consider "middle eastern" however, the typical generic moniker "middle eastern food" is mainly Lebanese and Levantine (without isolating everyone else in the region who also lays claim to hummus (including Israel))... I haven't found any decent authentic Lebanese food in the area (including unfortunately Mama's) apart from Orange County in Anaheim on W. Ball St., which, given the much better quality is actually well worth the drive (Sanabel Bakery, Zankou Chicken (Armenian owned but has great chicken shawarma from the spit and was originally a spawn from a branch in Lebanon), etc.). Expats throughout the SD/LA area flock to this block for the Arabic groceries, desserts and pastries and authentic Lebanese shawarma, pizzas (za'ater breads, etc) and mezze.
I'm looking forward to trying the various goods of El Cajon too.
Free-range, non-commodity restaurants in San Diego
just came across this blog post which is directly linked to what you are asking about: meat.
according to this website there are six "humane" certified meat serving restaurants in san diego:

Thank you.

other san diego 'secret dishes' that i can think of would be

and
- hodad's cheeseburgers

New Pizzeria Luigi to open in Little Italy on India Street, San Diego
It's called something else now (the one in Little Italy) and the Pizzeria Luigi website only lists their golden hill and north park locations.
Is the one in Little Italy a real Luigi? Or an accidental same name? Does anyone know?
Anything Good in Little Italy?
Thanks, I'll have to try out some of these places, I love Little Italy and would love it even more if it lived up to its potential... Oh, a vote for "Yogurtland" too is needed. You can't go wrong with frozen yogurt, though Red Mango somehow failed (happy to see Luigi's there though).
Anything Good in Little Italy?
There are several new places over the past five years or so in Little Italy San Diego, a place I'd like to "work" for the good of San Diego, but from what I read here and assume from the few places I've eaten at there, is overpriced touristy nothingness.
But is this attitude truly realistic?
Is there anything I'm missing by not going to Little Italy (ok except for a meatball sandwich from Filippi's but don't hold that against me).
Thanks C.H.O.W.

Station Tavern in South Park - Soft Opening
I second the comments on the underwhelming burgers which were just ok and even a bit tasteless, didn't even taste the cheese which was covering the burger and the meat was bland.
I wish they would put more time into those burgers, a great burger would make this spot really shine. Better quality meat, more spice, tastier cheese would be my recs.
Otherwise it's a welcome addition to the hood with its outdoor space and decent selection of beer on tap.

Middle Eastern Grocery in LA and San Diego
There's one on University Ave, I think this is the address:
Arabic Produce Market
Category: Grocery [Edit]
Neighborhood: City Heights
4869 University Ave
San Diego, CA 92105
(619) 283-4493
They have all the basics and sometimes make fresh food (when I was there they were making some samboosa and kibbeh!)
I don't know the exact address but found this one online and know that it's on university avenue near 40th or so, call them to be sure.
