Get the French Quarter Chicken. I have had it hundreds and hundreds of times since the 1990's. Other than a 2 or 3 month time span when one of the cooks messed up the seasoning, it has been the single best dish in NJ.

Good fish in east Brunswick?

Yes, I was surprised to see that they had closed. Excellent place, I guess the location didn't get enough traffic.

Regarding seafood in EB, some people like Blue Water Grill on Rt 18.

First Dickey's BBQ in NJ opens in East Brunswick today

There was a barbecue place there, I forget the name though. I think you may be right, even though Dickies seems to be saying this is their first NJ location.

How to eat frugally?

A good idea. Hungry Senior was a chef, the blog could be the very topic being discussed, frugal meal/recipe ideas and related items for seniors on a fixed income.

How to eat frugally?

Make soup, using fresh ingredients, whatever is on sale. Add beans, meat that is on sale, ground beef etc for protein. Different soups so you don't get tired of them. Skimp on the meat, go heavy on the beans to save money. Throw it all into the crockpot and let it cook all day. A crockpot of soup should last a few days.

Looks like Zinburger might be coming to Parsippany, NJ

A while back there was a place, I think it was called Llewellyn Farms or some thing like that, which was a catering place/restaurant. I think there was a liquor license there at that time.

DQ that serves burgers?

Out in the midwest, Dairy Queens with the "Brazier" sign have hamburgers. They are very good, generally charbroiled. Good french fries also. Not sure if there are any in NJ.

Lancaster Area Buffet - best quality

We are thinking of taking a drive out to the Lancaster area this week, for your usual tour through the various towns. We like to eat at one of the all you can eat restaurants, generally hitting either Shady Maple or Good N Plenty, and maybe occasionally Millers. This time, we are not going to the Shady Maple, and we were disappointed last time with Good N Plenty, so I thought I would see what the thoughts are regarding the best quality buffet style restaurant in the area.

Thanks!

Boulevard in NJ

Thanks, I had used that search, but did not zoom out when the map came up empty. Looks like Clark may be the closest place.

Boulevard in NJ

I hear that Boulevard is now sold in NJ. Does anyone know who is carrying it, preferably in central NJ. I am interested in both cases and on draft. Thanks.

Ponte Vecchio, Old Bridge NJ

We've eaten there a few times and never had a problem. I think that they also own Fresco in addition to Loucas. I like all three places.

Best Chinese in Hightstown/East Windsor area?

That would be Golden East. The place on Ryders Lane next to Acme is China One. Golden East I like, great garlic sauce. China One I do not, however my family does. The portions are big, but mostly vegetables/broccoli.

Smashburger -taste!

Yes, they used to have a buffalo chicken sandwich that was very good, but took it off the menu for some reason.

Good food/ Wedding rehersal dinner venue near Belmar for 30

For 30 people, I would think that Klein's could take you. Nice seafood restaurant along the inlet, views of the water.

I forgot another great place, Bareli's, also in Secaucus, right on Rt 3. Very good.

around metlife stadium

I always enjoy Lorenzo's in Secaucus, within about 3 miles of the stadium.

Also, there are a number of restaurants in Moonachie, including Segovia. Steve's Sizzling Steaks is just average to me, at least as far as the food goes.

BurgerFi

There is now one in New Brunswick NJ. We tried it and thought it was similar to Smashburger, 5 Guys, 25 Burgers etc.

The burger was tasty, a good variety of toppings are offered, and the fries are good.

It has a variety of craft beers, 5 or six on tap, the rest in bottles, and being in a college town, the prices were good.

rice factory in east brunswick

We got take out last Wednesday evening. Everyone liked their dishes, although we were heading out of town and no one can remember what they got. I was eating mine as we were driving, so will wait to give the place a rating. My noodle dish was good.

Magic Hat in cans

I can get it regularly in East Brunswick NJ, at the liquor store next to Shop Rite on Rt 18. Just take exit 9 on the turnpike.

I drive by there every day, the sign says it will be a Thai restaurant. I'll keep my eyes open if they put an opening date. I looked in there a couple of days ago and it looked like they were still working inside.

Collins is better, their strip steak outdoes Arthur's steak 99/100 times. On the burger side, while I prefer Collins, Arthurs does a good job also.

Lunch in Long Branch

I think it is the best place to go if coming from Middlesex County. Sure you have to pay for parking, but the beach crowd is good, not too loud. Lots of places to eat.

We like to grab a few drafts at McCloones or Sirena's. Food is a bit pricey, but generally pretty tasty.

Whole Foods Market coming to Marlboro???

At the time I did not, but did notice that they had them $5.99 a pound over Labor Day weekend. Still have not purchased any.

Thai Restaurants in Monmouth County

I suggest either any of the curry dishes (massaman is great, but so are the others) or the Basil Noodles. I always tell them medium plus spicy, and then that I do like it spicy, and they arrive with a nice amount of spice.

The coconut soup with the lime leaves and chicken is also very good.

River Thai in South River is a hidden gem, a few miles closer to Monmouth County. For my $, better than any listed here, and I have eaten at most of them.

Boondocks Fishery & Grill - Red Bank

We went earlier tonight, got there at 5, no wait, the chilly weather probably kept people away.

I got the blackened scallops served with ff, and liked them, the scallops were nicely done. You get 7 scallops and a nice size portion of ff's. I think they were 19.95.

My wife got the fish and chips and did not really like it, she thought the fish was sort of tasteless, too much coating that was crunchy and the fish did not have much of a flaky texture too it.

One daughter got coconut shrimp, 7 shrimp were served with ff. She also liked them, and they looked fine, typical fried shrimp. The other daughter got a cheeseburger which looked fine.

About 1/2 the tables were filled, everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. Some of the salads looked very nice, and those that got the lobster roll seemed happy with them. The service was very good, very quick and friendly. The atmosphere and view of course is very good. Just about every table had brought their own beer, and everyone was in good spirits, which made the place enjoyable to be in.

It's not a high end place, but I think for the price, you get decent food and a great atmosphere, so my assessment is that it is worth a visit. I am not sure I would want to wait in line an hour for it though.

N.J. raids 29 restaurants in liquor scam probe

Regarding the Brunswick Grove, their parking lot seems emptier than it used to be. I called the state to find out what their resolution was, spoke to the guy who led the investigation who told me that he couldn't say anything, suggested I call the Division Director or something like that, but implied that I shouldn't expect much information. I guess the customers rights just don't matter. I can't bring myself to go their again. The owner sits at the bar every night, his high priced german sports car just outside the door. I wonder where the money came from to pay for it. He challenged the charges on Facebook when it came out, but no further announcement of the resolution. What does he think, we are stupid?
