Sweet Potato Fries?

Ravinia BBQ on Roger Williams in Highland Park has excellent sweet potatoe fries.

Dinner with the girls?

Marche is fun and inexpensive. It is a little long in the tooth, but the place still packs em in when the bulls are playing. Food is still excellent.

Prairie Grass Cafe

My wife and I had a baby 10 weeks ago. We have worked up the nerve to get a babysitter for Sat night and made a reservation at Prairie Grass mostly based on the fact that it is close to our North Shore home. We have heard decent things about the place, but for some reason we have never tried PGC. Has anyone been here? If so please fill me in on the good the bad and ugly. If the place stinks I still have time to find something else! Thanks in advance

Hamburgers vs Pub Burgers

I enjoy the burgers at Rockit Bar and Grill

dessert junkie

I second that suggestion. It is great

Banana Cream Pie at LULA CAFE

In Logan Square, anyone else tried this? It is Sublime. They make it fresh everyday and it is the best ive ever had. The banana cream is really more of a pudding with whole pieces of fresh banana and custard. It is what a "homemade pie" should be. Enjoy.

Marriage Proposal

Mr. Beef on Orleans. Otherwise Honey 1 BBQ. If she says yes in either of these two places she is a keeper

Best Table Bread Service...

Charlie Trotters has the best bread I have ever had.

Love the black bread with raisins at gibsons.

Thoughts on Bistro 110?

I remember a chicken dish named after paul bocuse or escofier which was very nice

good eats near Ravinia?

Brisket and pork. Most similiar to KC bbq as the sauce is red.

The skirt steak sandwich is great with burnt onions. Wide variety of chicken options bbq teryiaki fried or plain and lots of steaks chops, etc also ribs. huge menu--something for everyone. al fresco dining as well

good eats near Ravinia?

Ravinia BBQ and Grill located on Roger Williams across from where the Ravinia Bistro used to be. Great BBQ.

I love the natural salad which is greens mixed with cole slaw. Why didnt i think of that.

Honey One

I guess i will ask them the next time I go in there for a rack

Favorite Fries

Stash's in Highland Park has great fries

Looking for any unturned stones in or near Gurnee

Dog and Suds in Grayslake (downtown)

Heh, which sucks worse: Jewel or Dominick's?

Sunset foods is hands down the best grocery store (4 locations) in the chicago area. Best produce, selection service and ready made items...period. There is a reason north shore moms and dads drive from miles around to shop in highland park

Honey One

Forgive me for I love Honey One. I love everything about the ribs and tips, smoke ring, great sauce and just the right amount. However this has been bothering me for a while....

I do have a question, and forgive me if I am just an idiot. I do not consider myself a bbq novice. I have had bbq in all of the bbq epicenters in the us...KC, Texas, Memphis, NC, etc. I have never encountered this issue in any of those locales

I have noticed that they leave the membrane on the rib racks at Honey One. I hate that...Is there some reason why they would leave the membrane on? Otherwise i find the swine sublime...Was going to ask the roberts why they do this, but i didnt want to hassle them when I really think that everything else about the product is A+...i can live with peeling off the membrane myself, but was hoping for some insight.

Seeking Solace in the form of Milkshake

Second on Bobtail.....

There is a dairy queen at southport and grace, while it is soft serve, i still love DQ in the summer

Twin Anchors

Twin Anchors doesnt rate for BBQ ribs in my opinion for one simple reason...they par boil and the ribs fall off the bone. More like rib jello...That being said the ribs at Honey 1 are first rate and you no longer have to call ahead for a slab...love the new digs.

13 Years in Chicago, baby on the way and....Now Highland Park :(

My wife and I recently moved to Highland Park. I grew up on the North Shore and after 13 years in the city, find myself back in the suburbs. We now live close to Ravinia in Highland Park and are looking to fill in our go to spots...Please help (especially Chinese and Thai)

So far we like Piero's Pizza and the Ravinia BBQ and Grill as staples. I have always been a fan of Michaels Hot Dog stand. In the City we liked D'Agastinos and CW Napkin for for pizza and other take out staples, Nicks Pit Stop and Friendship for Chinese. Mr. Beef was always a go to lunch spot

So far we have tried Hunan Pearl for Chinese (barf)--and no one has recommended anything better. We cannot find a local thia place which was another staple. We are grateful for Ravinia BBQ as it will fill in for CW Napkin (actually much better)and it is sooo close. Any thoughts? We already miss Thai Castle on Chicago and Ashland.....Please help.

Please recommend the following

Chinese
Thai
Japanese
Breakfast
Pizza
Sandwiches
Indian
Pizza (though Piero's is great)
Please add anything else you think I should try out too. THANKS
