Been to Eisenberg's lately??

used to go there a few times a week when i worked a few blocks away. love their egg salad. theyre also known for their tuna salad sandwich but i go with the egg salad now. also a large matzoh ball soup as well. the pastrami/corned beef didnt impress me as much. good prices too. its like stepping back in time, a restaurant that looks like old new york. and wish they had longer hours too.

Quick Lunch spot near Gramercy Park

love eisenbergs. sure its been around forever and looks exactly the same as it probably looked 50 yrs ago but it has great egg salad and tuna sandwiches. also matzo ball soup is quite good.

Where to find Mister Softee?

e 13th st and broadway right by the movie theatre

Sports bar that takes res?

ESPN ZONE sounds like an obvious choice. Also the Village Pourhouse on 3rd avenue and 11th st. Both arent really noted for their cuisine. For better food and if your guests are all men or quite openminded, what abour Robert's Steakhouse in the Penthouse Club. Never been there but the Times gave it a rather interesting review not too long ago.

Comfort Diner: Major dissappointment

I used to go there fairly often as i worked just down the block and wanted something quick. Always sat at the counter for faster service too. Always stuck with regular basic items such as omlettes or burgers. Decent food but considering what it is was very over priced. A lox eggs and onions with a side of fries and a coke often came to $16,00. Finally i decided that this was way too much to be paying for lunch in a diner. It was more out of convenience> I would recommend Europa Cafe directly across the street instead. Better selection of food, better atmosphere and prices too.

Artichoke Pizza-the Secret

the heavy rain thing didnt work for me the other afternoon. still waited a good 15-20 minutes outside under my umbrella during a pretty good downpour and the line just grew longer. rain isnt going to keep diehard pizza lovers away.
and it was worth every minute.

Best Italian in Little Italy?

Taking out of towners to dinner and they want to go to Little Italy, most likely Mulberry Street. I dont often dine there (not into the tourist scene) but looking for an authentic place not that expensive. Ive been to Da Nico a few times and liked it but looking to try somewhere else. Anyone been to Il Palazzo or Benito I or II? Thanks.

What's the best flavor of gelato at Ciao Bella?

totally agree with the maple ginger snap. I just finished the entire pint in one sitting.

BEST PLACE FOR BALLER NIGHT!?

maybe i;m missing something here, but what do you mean by "Baller Niight". is it some kind of sports reference?

i waited 1 hour for food at shake shack yesterday...

i remember reading that Shake Shack will open a branch in the new CitiField, the Mets new stadium. Any further information on this? I dont go to SS as often as I used to, the lines being one of the reason. More likely to go off hours to avoid the line.

Artichoke Basille's Pizza on 14th St

went at 5pm and small line. place is very tiny. 5th or 6th person on line is out the door. Only waited approx 5 minutes. Order a regular slice and a square to go. Only $5. Took them home a few blocks away and they were fantastic. Different than the typical pizza, a much heavier crunchy crust. When was the last time you could hold a slice and not have the end fall down. As of today, they are not set up for delivery yet.

Krispy Kreme

i remember when they were on east 8th street near university place, like 5 or 6 yrs ago. and then one day they closed. go figure.

Early Wildwood BBQ Reports?

Passed by there at 9pm and the joint was jumping. Looks like alot of people were waiting for this place to open. Either that, or they just love that old Park Avalon/Barca 18 location.

Menu posted on window had some reasonable prices too.

Where's a good bar to watch the Knicks?

may i ask why? any decent sports bar will be showing baseball instead of the hapless knicks. would you actually ask a bartender to change to a knick game? anyway i suggest village pourhouse, 3rd ave and 11th.

Mollys for Lunch

been to Molly's only once but enjoyed it quite a bit. old town is good also.
Molly's is typical irish bar.

Rare Bar and Grill is Terrific

always liked Rare fir the burgers and other food, but its never really mentioned often when people talk about the best burgers. dont know why. love the lexington location even though im closer to the bleecker one. good solid food in nice surroundings.

Best Burger in NYC?

went to Molly's first time Saturday afternoon. excellent burger fairly large too. liked the atmosphere. reminded me of old town bar.

Friedmans Deli in Chelsea Market

maybe you just got a bad cut...but i really enjoyed mine. so much better than 2nd ave. will be going back to try the soups and other sandwiches.

Friedmans Deli in Chelsea Market

Opened Friday afternoon, had the pastrami, really really good. A great addition to the lower manhattan deli scene. Great location in Chelsea Market. Sandwich was much better than 2nd ave deli which I went to again just a few days ago. The sandwich wasnt huge at Friedmans but the quality was there. Definitely will be back,

Saturday Lunch near 28th & 5th! HELP!

Live Bait on e 23rd or Comfort Diner on w 23rd.

Best burger delivery for the East Village?

i live about half a dozen blocks away from Paul's but never heard of it till now and I have lived in the neighborhood 20+ years. I dont go over to 2nd ave that much, used to go to 2nd ave deli almost weekly, veselka i'm tired of, kiev is gone, occasional stop to Gem Spa for an egg cream. So, tell me people, whats this burger like? Is it closer to a Silver Spurs type or more like a BLT, Stand, BRGR, etc kind of place. Thanks.

2nd Avenue Deli Reopening

looks like lettuce and tomato?...WTF?

Best Steakhouse for Four 20 year old guys

Strip House. and they do know how to cook an excellent filet. Angelo and Maxies is good, kinda bridge and tunnel, with good prices, but it does not belong in the same grouping as Strip House, Sparks, Lugers, S/W, Wolfgangs, etc.

Another of my favorites not mentioned above is Ben Bensons.

2nd Avenue Deli Reopening

went there this afternoon for takeout. I'm sorry to say something wasnt quite right. The matzo ball soup, which i loved on 10th st, was overwhemingly salty to the point of not being able to eat all of it. The pastrami was very juicy, to the point where the rye bread acted like a sponge, and the meat just wasnt that flavorful. I just ate at Katz's two weeks ago and their pastrami is amazing. A 5. 2nd ave was a 3. kinda disappointed but i will return i'm sure.

2nd Avenue Deli Reopening

i thought there would be plenty of responses. I hope to go there later today. will report back too.

Bar seats for 1

i agree with Gotham Bar and Grill. Go and enjoy yourself and forget all about her.

2nd Avenue Deli re-opening

go to SAVETHEDELI.COM for an up to date preview of Mondays opening. It opens at 6am if you are interested.

First visit to Katz's

Pastrami hands down with a frank too. although the frank is a little pricey at 2.50 or 2.95, still quite good. i always order takeout and always tip 1-2 dollars to the counter guy to get a great taste of what my sandwich would be like. and yes the dr browns black cherry. funny story, i order take out last week, pastrami sandwich, and i like to eat it at home, approx 15 blocks away, i jumped into a cab. my girlfriend said why dont we walk, i said i gotta get home while the pastrami is till hot. she looked at me like i was nuts. but hey she's from the south, what does she know about fine cured meats.

Dean and Deluca Dinner - Good Mail Order Gift?

I havent ordered or received an entire dinner like you mentioned, however D and D is high quality. On a semi-related note, my brother usually sends me a $200 gift certificate from D and D around the holidays and I usually spend it for New Years Eve delicacies. That might be a better way to go only if there is a D and D near them.

Seafood near Carnegie Hall?

Redeye Grille which is practically across the street.
