Seeking spicy ethnic food in Dupont Circle or Adams/Morgan neighborhoods!

That makes perfect sense....where are the best places to look these days?

Seeking spicy ethnic food in Dupont Circle or Adams/Morgan neighborhoods!

Thanks Steve! I'll check that out. No, I'm not limited to those neighborhoods necessarily, but my experience made it seem like one could find just about anything there, especially good ethnic fare. Please feel free to expand outward!

I'm looking for recommendations from chileheads for spicy ethnic fare (can be Asian, African, Mexican, Caribbean, etc) to be enjoyed during a visit next week. Prefer emphasis on authenticity, uniqueness and value...places not geared towards tourists...

Ann Arbor, Michigan

Experienced lover of very spicy ethnic food options seeks recommendations in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area.....Detroit metro area is quite fine, too. Love it all...Thai, Indian, Southeast Asian, Korean, Mexican, Jamaican, African, Middle Eastern, etc. Seeking value and charm more than tourist appeal.

I don't think that was an issue! I stressed several times that I was looking for "very hot" or "Thai hot" intensity! The spice level was quite satisfactory. I've had hotter, but that's not the most important criteria.

I didn't have a chance to check this out, but will next time! I did have some very good pho soup at Pho 87.

I lacked the time to get to Mint Bistro, but it's definitely on my list for my next visit!

I tried YunNan Garden out while I was there. I agree: very good and quite spicy. I tried three of the appetizers (a spicy beef tendon, a spicy fried tofu, and some type of pork dish), and for my entree, had a Szechuan hot pot with boiled beef and fish. Probably an 8 or 9 on my 1 to 10 spiciness scale. The quantity of food served was definitely more than I could eat; a good value for the money. Language was definitely an issue, and the service was somewhat cool and indifferent, other than the gentleman at the appetizer counter. A very authentic Chinese menu; not what most Americans typically see.

I did get to LOS (and loved it), but was unable to make it to Komal (which was also recommended to me by someone else while I was in town). Will definitely try next time!

Lotus of Siam was outstanding! I had their spicy sour pork nothern Thai sausage appetizer mixed with crispy rice and chilies, Tom Yum soup with catfish & for the entree a northern Thai steak tartare dish with mixed chilies and garlic. I've had hotter Thai food before, but that's irrelevant. On my scale of 1 to 10, the spiciness was at least an 8.5, but the quality was definitely 10.0! Service was very good also. Thank you so much for the recommendation!

yes, one must be selective in applying heat to certain dishes....but not hard to do in a Thai restaurant

Seeking very spicy food!

I'm visiting for several days; only the second time I've been in the city. As usual, I'm looking for very spicy ethnic food...any type, with emphasis on quality, value, uniqueness &authenticity of the food offered. I like to go where the natives would go; not the tourists.....any suggestions?
