Looking for authentic Mexican in San Diego

I have lived in the area all my life and am very familiar with the Mexican restaurants in that area. El Agave is very good. They have a great variety of tequilas. It is more authentic than most of the commercial places in that area. For more casual place I would say Old Town Mexican Cafe or La Pinata. Old Town Mex Cafe is more touristy and the food is good and La Pinata is small and quaint with pretty good food.

Hatch Green Chile

I get them at Costco on Morena. They come in a bigger can but you can freeze the portion you don't use.

You Haven't Tasted San Diego Until You've Had...?

I am a San Dieagan since 1966. El Indos use to be good in the day but don't go there, Taco Bell would be better choice and Old Town Mexican Cafe is a safe, authentic choice. Tommy's is not good, In and Out burgers is good. Jakes in Del Mar is a good choice for ocean view plus the food and service. The other suggestions are true, in my opinion.
