In terms of the judges, they're doing just fine (with regards to non-chefs or self-proclaimed foodies). The Simpsons is possibly the greatest sitcom of all time, and Modern Family is absolutely brilliant.

Super Chef Battle
Looks like fun. Bobby Flay and White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford against Mario Batali and Emeril Lagasse in Washington DC. Sounds like the First Lady may be a guest judge or at least make an appearance.
Best and worst cooking show set designs
I like the set on Boy Meets Grill (when it's filmed outdoors). Big, open space, the bridge in the background, views of the city, etc. I think look really nice. Sometimes there's a nice added effect when the wind blows a bit as well.

I'm very happy to see Appleman go. I'm also a bit disappointed to see Trevino go, but glad that Chef Freitag bounced back after last weeks poor performance. Asinine conspiracy theories aside, I hope she wins.

I couldn't agree more. I used to find him quirky as well, now that quirkiness seems more like self-importance. If I want to put wasabi on my sushi nigiri, that's my business. All too often he speaks to the audience like they are a petulant child.
Good Eats Near Portland Intl' Jetway
Ricetta's does have good pizza. I like Sebago Brewing Co., which has pretty good food (at least the last time I went) and great craft beer selections. I also like the food at Thatcher's, also very close to the airport.
Ice Cream Trip Through Maine
I grew up in Maine and forgot how much I loved Needhams! Unless my memory is shot, they were simply sweet coconut covered with dark chocolate, yes? I found this web site that says the original Needhams have a mashed potato filling! Yuck!

Did anybody mention that the six packs are only 11.2 ounce bottles? I find that much more offensive than the taste.
Portland Maine restaurants for seniors
If you're in the mood for seafood, I would recommend Gilbert's Chowder House on Commercial Street. Smallish, but on first floor so I would think it is handicapped accessible. Also a nice deck on the back (it was closed back in June, but I would assume it is open by now.) Tasty, simple and very fresh local seafood.
