Boston Lobster is the New Newport Seafood

Sorry didn't mean to try to hijack the boston lobster or imply it's not worth trying. It's just that we too have drove by boston lobster only to see no parking and lines. New Bay hasn't been talked about much on the board and IMHO very underrated and not as well known.

Boston Lobster is the New Newport Seafood

Why wait or deal with parking headache when New Bay is equally comparable to Newport in terms of quality and menu (or boston lobster for that matter) and has no lines and plenty of parking in its own private lot.

ISO Nem Nuong (roll your own rolls)

Most Little Saigon places such brodard don't offer it, but I've been to many nem nuong places outside of Little saigon that do. Both nem nuong khanh hoa and summer rolls offer it in a platter diy style.

Newport Seafood San Gabriel Location Closing?

we certainly won't be heading west. Stopped going to Newport as Tan Hai/Newbay on Valley has been more than adequate substitute for lobster fix.

Little Saigon Night Market (Westminster)

Ahh from 2011! proof that the 2013 LIttle saigon Night market wasn't it's innaugural season as stated in the OCWeekly. Pretty sure the article also mistaken banh can with banh khot as well. But most people, even Viets would make that mistake as it's pretty rare to see that here.

Little Saigon Night Market (Westminster)

this has been on going for the past 2-3 years during weekends of the summer months. its in the front parking lot of the Phuoc Loc Tho plaza. No where near the cluster** of the original 626 night market since it's weekly. Good for cruise if in the area on weekends, but not necessary a must visit. A few noteworthy bites from previous year was vendor selling banh can da nang, a rice flour dumpling similar to banh khot but with quail egg and no coconut milk and made in a clay oven. Never seen that before except in Da Nang. Usual food on sticks and grilled corn with scallion oil.

Boston Lobster is the New Newport Seafood

for those looking for newport alternatives, New Bay on Valley is equally good and better in some respects. No long waits and easy parking. The house special lobster is equally as good and same price as Newport. The sour catfish soup, canh chua is better than Newports. Also, the off menu Viet style chicken salad, goi ga is fantastic. We've never had it, but the large fresh seafood hotpot spread looks amazing.

Help - Good, Healthy Italian or American Cuisine in Pasadena Area?

Tratoria Neopolis for very good neopolitan style pizzas as well as solid pastas and salads and meat mains.. dont' think they have whole wheat though. Also since celebration, they have an upper level that's somewhat more private and nice bar too.

South Pasadena for lunch

Fiori Cafe on fremont has great sandwiches (house made breads) and salads and nice patio with garden. If you venture north to pasadena for pizza, Trattoria Neopolis should also be on your radar as it has very good neopolitan style pizza and broader restaurant menu than Settebello.

New Bay Seafood Opens In Alhambra

We enjoyed some good dishes a few days ago for early dinner. The roasted eggplant was a stand out. Their bo luc lac is also very good, nice sear on and well seasoned. They also have good version of canh chua. The catfish steaks were big, not the tiny thin ones. Not as good as seafood cove but better then Newport. Haven't tried the lobster yet though but it's 17.99 lb like new port and they only have female lobsters (if that's important to u) but they do have several private rooms. Overall not as good as seafood cove in OC but prefer it over Newport

Vietnamese Pancakes (Banh Xeo) & Fried Bread for Pho

In general, little saigon restaurants are sub specialized-- they are known for one or two dishes. Very few restaurants make many dishes well. If u go to banh cuon restaurant, order the banh cuon and not banh Xeo. Brodard is known for nem nuong and makes a subpar banh Xeo.

As for your question of how to eat banh cuon, theres two main types, one with filling and ones without. When given plate of banh cuon with fillings, w just add all the veggies and pour on the nuoc Cham. You can read more on our blog about banh cuon http://www.theravenouscouple.com/2010...
