halfway to london?
hello, in need of assistance in locating a good restaurant, suitable to families, halfway between t.o. and london, say around the kitchen, waterloo, guelph corridor. Something not too far from the highway, so ruling out downtown Guelph, for example. Any and all suggestions would be most appreciated.
leslieville/beaches fun but good
hi there, wondering if anyone has any tips for a fun, casual yet tasty eatery in the leslieville, beaches area. Thanks for the help!
Marvellous Edibles is closing Jan 18th
Love this place, so sorry to see it go. We moved away from the area a couple years ago, but still managed a visit now and again. Had a big 40th b-day dinner there for my wife, only 10 people, but it was so memorable — delicious, but casual and fun, service was perfect, great wine... ahh, this bites. Any talk of reopening in a new location? they could use a bit better space.
crush wine bar
hello folks, thoughts on Crush wine bar? TSO tomorrow night, can't beat the location, but is the food good? other recommendations in the area?
thanks!
vagabondo or close by
hi folks,
has anyone tried this restaurant recently, vagabondo? never been, but hitting Canstage tonight and looking for some medium-priced, not too slow, grub. Just let me know, and thanks.
cheers
bibiche
hello, anybody been to bibiche since it opened in the beach? what's good? atmosphere? drinks? price point? Thanks a bunch!!
Casual Eats Near Fox Theatre
by the way, haven't tried bibiche, how is it? what would you recommend? price point?
Casual Eats Near Fox Theatre
oh ya, pubs aplenty, good restaurants not so much. there is a pub called quigley's at the corner of Beech that should have live music tonight, then there are a couple in the other direction just east of the Fox the Fill Station and Fitzgerald's which are both fine, fill station is pretty sporty.
Casual Eats Near Fox Theatre
vi vetha, 2459 1&2 Queen Street East
couple blocks from the fox, ideal for what you're asking.
also, ichiban beside the fox is good.
new to the beach
the goof is pretty bad, actually.
green eggplant on queen near the Lick's is really busy, and kinda fun inside, but the food is also not so good.
Vi Vetha is good for dinner, and a really good weekend brunch.
the Ichiban between willow and beech is pretty good
Il fornello is fine for a decent pasta and glass of wine, but nothing further
Leslieville is where all the good restaurants are, and if you're out for a nice evening, just go there. Current faves include The Nose, which seems very good lately. Edward Levesque is always good, also.
Restaurant Openings, 2009 (Toronto)
I heard there is something new where Cfood was at yonge and eglinton -- bizzy's or something like that.... gastro somethingorother... location of death though
Trying to find *Jerk chicken* in London Ontario
is Jambalaya on richmond street near Pall Mall still open? They used to have a great jerk chicken, but I haven't lived in town for a while....
Coffee Shop or Pub in the East End
there is a cafe with great, tasty food on the Danny, south side, beside Brass Taps at Logan, I think. But I can't think of the name for some reason... Anyone? At any rate, good grub.
Island Food
I was at the Don Mills shop last month and there was a pretty good line-up, maybe 10-15 deep.
Good jerk, and rotis, great spot for a spicy lunch.
locavore
Hey gang,
I noticed a sign up across the street from Pusateri's, it read Locavore. Anyone know anything? I didn't have time to check it out, but looks to be maybe a resto or new food shop.
cheers!
JK Wine Bar
Tried JK on Friday night, but there was a 90 minute wait, so had to miss it. Crazy. Maybe it was a film festival thing, I had not heard of such a long wait, but it was prime time on a Friday. I'll give it another shot, I'm sure. We decided to go to Six Steps on Colborne Lane, which was okay. I had the tuna, nicely prepared with a decent tapenade and my partner had a tasty pasta dish -- but it certainly wasn't in the same league. Or, at least, I hope it wasn't.
cheers, thanks for the help.
JK Wine Bar
Hi folks,
heading here tomorrow night, wondering if there are any tips regarding a good time to head over, approximate wait times, and "must-order" items. Thanks for the help.
cheers!
susur
hey folks,
does anyone know if and when Susur's New York restaurant is scheduled to open?
cheers!
1055 "Plakutta"
I've been, it is very good actually. I think the previous owner Brian is out, hence the name change, and he was also the chef, so not sure about the quality at this point, but it was very tasty with Brian at the helm. But, the success or failure of the restaurant was more due to it being an absolutely massive restaurant in a kinda dead zone. There have been quite a few different attempts at this spot, all closed. Until they figure out what to do with the excess space, it likely won't be a huge success.
Bread Bar
Hey guys,
I noticed a sign for something called Bread Bar on Avenue Road, north of Lawrence, any idea about this place?
cheers
Anyone been to these London eateries?
strange about Under the Volcano, I've been a few times over the years and different locations, and they've always been, at the very least, okay. HORRIBLE seems a bit extreme. Care to explain?
Don Mills and Lawrence - Any Ideas?
haha, just checked out David Duncan House menu, can't speak to the quality, but definitely an old school menu -- I mean, what restaurant in this millennium would have not just Steak Neptune, but also Chicken Neptune on their menu... Then again, could be the greatest Steak Neptune in the history of the world...
I like Island Foods, on Don Mills by the way, they do a decent jerk chicken with nice quality chicken, and at a great price.
Looking for a country pub....
The McCarty Pub in the Calendon Inn on Hwy. 10 just outside of the town of Caledon is my favourite spot whenever I'm up for a country day. (www.thecalendoninn.ca)
bluffer's park
Hi, has anyone tried the restaurant at Bluffer's Park Marina, recently? Just let me know, thanks.
scarborough
Hi folks,
Are there any recommendations for a decent restaurant, middle range, in Scarborough -- closer to the east/centre side if possible....
cheers!
Lousy at The Red Goat, 99 King, London Ontario
Has any other Londoners had this experience? I might be dating myself, but I used to love this place when it was called 99 King, and even the little lounge next door, the Libido -- first date with my wife was there.. Sniffle. Too bad it ain't so hot, now.
Anything new in Midtown and environs?
I'm craving a bit of a change of pace if anyone can suggest something new nearby, thanks!!
Restaurant Beaches Question
sure, set-up costs I agree, I was just arguing that I don't think rents are all that steep in some of Beaches strip, particularly on the east side, in comparison to Leslieville. Not that I have a clue, I'm just guessing. You'd have the same set-up costs either way.
