La Masseria is a great Italian place - I've been there several times for lunch and dinner and they've never disappointed.

What I do is buy whole chickens, cut out the chicken breasts and freeze them (save money) - cut up the rest of the carcass' - throw in the vegies/herbs and cover with water - simmer for 3-4 hrs. then put in refrig and skim the congealed fat the next day. Sometimes I’ll roast the chicken parts for an hour ahead of time and deglaze the roasting pan with cold water and add to the stock for a really tasty brown chicken stock. If you don't want to use whole chickens, most grocery stores sell chicken backs/necks for soups for like $0.80 per lb, or you can just ask your butcher if they have any laying around, I've had them give it to me for free in the past.

I'm actually not a fan of 5 guys - they give you a lot for the money, but only cook it one way - also, i'm not a fan of the fry's. If you are looking for a similar type burger place, i would recommend goodburger - they have a bunch of locations in the city - the burgers are Awesome!! and their fry's are great!! and you can pick how well you want the meat cooked.

I work in the area and wonder if it's worth the wait for lunch...

I just moved from the UWS to the UES - order food almost every night, and order Amber twice a week simply because i know their menu from the UWS location - the food there is good, but it's not really chinese food. Please give me some good chinese options - Thanks in advance!!

I like the chain Goodburger. They don't make anything fancy, but they are very tasty burgers, fresh veggies, heated bun - excellent fries, and they'll cook to your preferred doneness. If your looking for super causual, great burger, and inexpensive - Goodburger is the best in the city.

I just moved from the UWS to the UES and the only thing i miss is being able to order the Lomo Saltado from Flor De Mayo. Are there comparable restaurants near me???

Sunday nights at Dovetail is $40 per person - best deal in the city...

I second Po - for some reason, the food and service there is always great and its not expensive. I've recommended the place to countless people and no one has ever disagreed with me.

I'm popping the question sometime over the next couple of weeks and am trying to think of restaurants that are romantic enough to fit the bill - I'm looking for a memorable experience without breaking the bank. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance.

A huge sign on the old Hunan Park on Columbus between 70th & 71st says "Lansky's". Any idea what kind of restaurant this is??

Has anyone ever had their knives sharpened at Gracious Homes? I just called them and they charge $1 an inch of blade. They told me they don't sharpen knives for any restaurants, but they have a lot of people drop them off - enough to cause at least a 3 day turn around. I live on the UWS and would like a good local place.
