Anyone serve good blood Sausage in DFW?

The Crujiente de Morcilla de Arroz and the Morcilla Frita were amazing at Si Tapas, thanks for the Rec.
PS: Loved the Crema Catalana for dessert.

Aldi

Either their advertising is failing miserably, or many folks are just not paying attention (or doing any research): ALDI's is a discount food store, it's a tick above a gas station convenience store with Walmart-ish prices. They stock basics most average people buy (full or 2% Milk, white and 'brown' bread, common fruits and veggies, frozen food, cheap wine, no brand names).

DISCOUNT=cheap.

They compete on price, nothing else, not quality, not 'atmosphere', not 'brands', not service.

And honestly, it is about time everyone took their own bags to shop, enough of this waste and garbage for no reason other than being too lazy to keep a bag or three in the trunk of your car with all that other junk in there.

Anyone serve good blood Sausage in DFW?

Casting a wide net, so anywhere in DFW will work for now. Let me know where, how they serve it, what makes it special to you. I've only had the good stuff in the midwest and craving them.

Fort Worth weekend help

Fred's was not expected after your initial list LOL

Venture out a little bit for burgers, try Chubby's Burger Shack (Shroom/Swiss or Bleu Cheese/Bacon, or the Big Nasty if you are a big eater) or M&O Station Grill (try one of their specialty burgers).

Lili's Bistro on Magnolia (wasabi scallops or macaroon flounder) if you want to try a neighborhood funky dining spot.

Ellerbe Fine Foods (Lamb Lasagna or Cornish Game Hen) is a little more refined and good too.

Enjoy your visit.

Need recs for great Dim Sum in SF

Staying at a hotel near the Embarcadero, will have a 3-day muni pass, so getting around is no biggie: I need honest to goodness recommendations for great Dim Sum in your fair city. Nothing touristy please, my favorite spots in London, Seatle and Toronto are basement dives under mom-and-pop restaurants in alleys where the food is great, place is full of local workers, English is just an aid to sign language, and prices are reasonable.

So, what you got SF? why and where? and best times to hit them.

Portuguese Restaurant in Carrolton -- Casa Portugal

Your boyfriend did not like it because the Azores, while Portugese, are a separate island with their own variant of cuisine (think Hawaii or Puerto Rico: not quite "American" Cuisine).
Catch a rerun of Anthony Bourdain's show on the Azores and see for yourself.

Thanks for the findthough, hope to try it, Azores menus are very rare in this part of the world.

Istanbul Grill - Arlington

I second that review: this place is turning into my favorite Turkish destination in the metroplex. It's Turkish, similar to Lebanese or other Ali-Baba-ish locations but with more flavor I think. ENjoy.

PS: they also own the pizza joint next door: skip the regular pizzas and try the few Turkish Pies they have on offer to get even more of that excellent cuisine.

Late Night Tacos in Dallas

Start scouting out gas station tacos locations off of I35, most are 24hour. Otherwise you are in Gringo land there west of there my friend except for a very small stretch of Beltline that shuts down at 9pm.

"Smoke" Restaurant in Dallas?

OCNC pretty much said it in the first sentence. Now you have to decide if SB is still worthy of mentioning or not as 'good' or ho-hum.

It's not bad, not great, and the smoke taste seems applied as opposed to cooked through. Will go back if someone else is paying LOL

Talk on BBQ sauce in TEXAS

Like you, I like the sauce to stand on it's own: I rarely put on good 'cue beef or pork, but I find it enhances the sausage or poultry offerings when I stray, or just squirted on the bread as I mop up the plate.

Sweet or not it does not matter, I look for a low heat and a peppery tang on the tongue. And I hate store bought offerings: I will likely drop a joint for pulling crap like that on it's customers.

Zinsky's - Outstanding Deli in North Dallas

OK, went back and had "The Zinsky", my new favorite sandwich there: A triple-decker lollapalooza with three breads, Roast Beef, Pastrami and Turkey, Muenster, American Cheese and Pepper Jack, Cole Slaw and their Special Dressing. Yum. Take a friend to eat it.

I understand that $2 of every "the Zinsky" sold is donated to Jewish Family Service of Dallas.

Best CFS in Texas!

My Mom's: pan fried in a skillet she inherited. Mary's in Strawn is a close second best, worth the drive, Massey's in Fort Worth is third, Arlington Steak House used to make a darn good one too, but have not been there is a few years to confirm if it is still worth it.

Zinsky's - Outstanding Deli in North Dallas

NO KNISHES!!!!! I can’t get over the knish thing. And there absolutely has to be kasha knishes.
No chopped liver.
Is this meant to be a NY style Deli or what?
Small sandwiches: lean corned beef (considered by some to be blah, but ok by me. GREAT pastrami I have to say.
Good Hot Dogs.
The lox was good at Zinsky’s and the vegetable cream cheese shmear was fine. Bagels are OK.
Matzoh ball soup is good: two good sized balls with room for a good basic broth.
I still prefer Deli News, but who wants to drive that far north LOL

Boba tea (Dallas)

I believe you are too close to downtown to enjoy great boba selections: Richardson, Plano, Arlington and southern Garland are the best locations. In your neck of the woods, you will have to explore local vietnamese restaurants for such offerings with your meals.

Great Pizza in Fort Worth: recommendations anyone?

Not in Fort Worth exactly, this thread's topic: Deep dish of course is good and often ruined, I've not been there, hope to try it soon, thanks.
If we want to expand to midcities we need to also include Corky's in Kennedale, Zuroma in Grapevine, Lushaj is HEB and Nizza Pizza in Arlington to name a few. Let's stick to Fort Worth and skip the midcities if possible. Thanks folks.

Great Pizza in Fort Worth: recommendations anyone?

I stumbled on a hole-in-the-wall pizza place just south of JPS Hospital near downtown called Patty's Pizza Bakery (red potato pizza was divine) and it got me thinking, anyone else recommend other places?

Patty's Pizza Bakery is great, they make a thin crust that is just the right amount of chewy-ness and can hold/carry the pizza toppings, I enjoy their take on specialty pizzas (which is still evolving I am told). Menu is at http://www.pattyspizzabakery.com/imag...

Rocco's Wood Fired Pizza, Camp Bowie area, is only a take-out/delivery place but it is also a very good pizza, with great specialities and an ability to customize that goes beyond just the basic ingredients (for example, sauces include Mole, toppings include salmon, clams, and soy cheese). Menu is at http://www.roccosfortworth.com/menu.html

Mellow Mushroom is good pizza/beer place, Brix is a great wine bar/pizza place, Taverna downtown for something fancy in a pie, and Bosses Brick Oven pizza near Lake Worth just to mention a few.

Your take?
