Sweet Bologna In Essex, Passaic, Morris Counties?
Hey there gang,
My daughters love sweet bologna from PA's Amish Country. Some folks refer to this as Lebanon bologna but it is not the same. Lebanon bologna has a more peppered and sometimes spicy kick to it. Out in the Lancaster, PA supermarkets, sweet bologna can be purchased sliced or in smaller/thinner sticks. Doea anyone know where I can buy sweet bologna in the Essex, Morris, Passaic NJ county areas? I'm close to Fairfield but am willing to drive.
Thanks!
Assadorian Frozen Lamajuns In Morris, Essex or Passaic Counties?
Greetings all,
Does anyone know of any Turkish / Armenian / Lebanese delis that sell the Assadorian frozen lamajuns in the eastern Morris, western Essex county area? I'm out in the West Caldwell vicinity and don't feel like making the trek into Fairview.
I was spoiled when I lived in Queens and there were TONS of places that carried them.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Perth Amboy, NJ - Any Tips On Which Ethnic Places Are Tried & True?
I've been working over in the Keasby NJ area and decided to take a ride into Perth Amboy today looking for lunch and was amazed at the Latino presence. That only means one thing to me - foodie heaven!
With so many storefronts to choose from, can anyone provide some feedback on which establishments are worth visiting where I won't waste my heard-earned buck? I love all Latino food and I hear that there are some Eastern European joints here as well.
I tried doing some seraches on the board before starting this new post but came up rather empty handed.
All recommendations are appreciated!
Any Philadelphia-Style Roast Beef Heros in Northern NJ?

Any Philadelphia-Style Roast Beef Heros in Northern NJ?
Thanks HungryKids. Now that we have that piece of nickle knowledge out of the way, can anyone help me find a roast beef/gravy/provolone hoagie closer to home in Northern NJ? I don't feel like driving the 100 miles to Philly when I get a hankering for one....
Any Philadelphia-Style Roast Beef Heros in Northern NJ?
Hey gang,
Some of my favorite roast beef heros are from Ioannoni's in New Castle, DE and Nick's Old Original Roast Beef in Philly. Do any of you know of a comparable roast beef joint in northern NJ that offers the same hero with hearty brown gravy, provolone and maybe some arugula?
Thanks!
Source For Montreal Smoked Meat In Northern NJ?
Does anyone know a source for obtaining Montreal-style smoked meat in northern NJ? I know that I can do mailorder from Canada but I'm wondering if I can just grab some locally somewhere.
Thanks!

Food at Queens Botanical Garden
No need to travel blocks or miles. Caddy-corner from QBG on the east side of Main Street is a small place called Kabul Kabob. My family & I have been going here for over 15 years. In fact, I still drivein from New Jersey monthly to get my Kabul's fix. My Mom does not like anything 'spicy', yet loves Kabul. My Mom is so non-adventerous, boiled mashed potatoes are exotic for her !
Plenty of grilled meats (chicken, filet mignon, lamb) and a bed of rice with a grilled tomato. Doesn't get much safer than that! Cash only. Open for lunch and dinner.

Dining recommendations for a (short) layover at Newark Liberty?
Don't risk leaving the airport. The TSA lines at EWR are horrendous. I fly in and out of EWR at least once a week. No matter what day, if you only have 1.5 hours, do not leave the airport and if you do not have Continental Elite line access to re-clear security, you're a goner.
Decent restaurants on Union Turnpike near St John's?
I've got to agree with roseipoo. I read the reviews and was really looking forward to eating at Acquista Trattoria. It was just mediocre - at best. My Mom also had the chicken francese and I had the pasta Amatricana. Very pasty and tasteless. But as others have said, the low prices are what gets people in the door. Just like that dump Giardino's in Douglaston that serves tremendous plates of uggh.
Louie's in Port Washington
Agreed Monalisa. I had not been to Louie's in at least 15 years and a buddy of mine dragged me in for dinner a couple weeks ago. The cioppino was decent and as you mentioned, the 'specials list' was extensive and even included some land-lubber grub as well. They've added a porterhouse to the menu and keep comparing it to Northern Blvd. Steakhouse Row quality at a fraction of the price. My buddy had a pasta / shrimp combo and he cleaned the plate. We washed down a few heferweizens and called it a night.
Bottom line - if I was in Port again and in the mood for seafood, I'd go again without any qualms.
Kebab Cafe in Astoria= disgusting
Try Kabul Kebob on Main Street in Flushing. I've been going there for over 15 years and stilll loving it. In fact, I come in from NJ to feast there since I relocated 7 years ago.

An Astoria List
I finally made it into Latin Cabana on Steinway south of 34th street. What a nice and affordable place. I hjad the lunch special - shreaded pork, rice, beans and plantains. Excellent value for $4.95. I just wish I still lived in Queens so I could go back more often.
No need for good food to be expensive....
Manny's Grill in Queens
I concur. I went about 6 months ago after reaading good reviews of Manny's. Tasteless describes it very well.
Take a ride out to Pollos Mario in Hempstead or Tierras Columbianas in Jackson Heights / Astoria. If it's Cuban you're rally after, El Rincon Criollo in Jackson Heights on Junction Blvd can't be beat - pricewise and tastewise.
Dover, NJ (Columbian Restaurant)Recommendations
Heck, I'd settle for a tip on ANY good Latino food in the Dover area. I'll be out there with the family this coming Sunday if anyone can steer me towards some good ethnic chow.
Good German food
Once you've gone to Zum Stammtisch, you're not gonna go anywhere else. I have been going since 1985 and never looked back at another German place except when I am on vacation and all those pale in comparison.

I keep hearing about a place called Plattduetsche Park Restaurant in Franklin Square but I've never actually been there: parkrestaurant.com
Fatburger open in Massapequa Park
I gotta admit - Fatburger tastes like a high-end Wendy's burger to me. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, just very overpriced for what you get.
Best Taco Truck?
I'd love to get more information to Dalia's in Sunnyside. Can you tip us Chowhounds off to exact location and hours?
Thanks!
