Private dining for 10-15 pp on Eat Street (or nearby) in early June

Hello Hounds, my work group will be in this great food city for (what else?) a conference in early June. We're looking to host about 10-15 pp within walking distance of the convention center. From previous posts, I've identified Gangchen, Jasmine 26 and The King and Thai as potential spots. However, I haven't read any reviews of either family-sized group or private dining experiences at these places. I'm also open to more suggestions!

Here are the parameters:
10-15 adults (21+ older)
Fixed menu preferred
Cost $15-$20 pp
Private dining area preferred
Reasonable walking distance from CC

Thanks in advance Hounds!

Unusual dinner venue to impress San Diego native?

Where would you suggest going for an unforgettable birthday dinner for two on a Wednesday night? Could be cheap or expensive, near or far, just something to impress even the most jaded San Diego diner!

Thanks Hounds!

Kosher food/deli tray for mourning/shiva?

My boss just lost her mother and I'm looking to bring food to her house for shiva (mourning). She isn't strictly kosher, but her guests might be. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Early group dinner within easy distance of Riverwalk (San Antonio)

Thanks DiningDiva. With such feedback, I hope to avoid peeving off 20 friends and coworkers. Any good dining experiences in SA so far?

Recipes You've Never Heard of Outside Your Family - Part 2

I was hoping we'd see my husband's German Aunt at the last family get-together, but alas, her health is failing. This recipe sounds close, although she definitely made the batter into round or twisted donut shapes. I'm eager to try these.

Thank you again for the info!

UPDATE: With the clue you provided, we were able to paste together the words "schmalz" (fat) and "kuchen" (cookie) to find exactly what we've been dreaming of: schmalzkuchen! Thank you so much!!

Early group dinner within easy distance of Riverwalk (San Antonio)

I've done my homework, but still need some help:

I'm arranging dinner for about 20 close colleagues (may be a few kids) that are all staying in the RW area. We're looking for early dinner (5:30-7:30pm) for about $20 food per person. My boss wants seafood, so I bite my tongue and search. But, you can see, Boudro's and Sandbar are a bit out of our range. Most of us are from San Diego, so Acenar would be like eating local. I read Chowhound, so I prefer to steer clear of tourist traps. I can get this group to walk a fair distance, maybe even river taxi, to something special.

As an alternative, suggestions for cocktails with light plates, not too noisy.

Dinner with friends and baby in Westwood?

Apologies for being vague.

Budget: <$25 pp for food & non-ETOH
Area: Driving distance of West LA - north of Venice Blvd & west of UCLA

Also, we're staying in Santa Monica at the Delfina on Pico Blvd.

Not a popular post for Hounds. Believe me, we're feeling the burden of finding a baby-friendly locale!

Dinner with friends and baby in Westwood?

We're meeting 2 friends for dinner tomorrow (Monday) night in or around the Westwood Village area. We have a 6 month old that does dining out well (for a baby) but doesn't like too much noise. Our budget is modest but we'll spend more for quality. No real preferences but bonus points for slow food, Japanese or francophone. Any suggestions?

Recipes You've Never Heard of Outside Your Family - Part 2

My husband's German aunt has made "shmarsh-gooken" (phonetic spelling) for years. They are quick bread pastry balls deep fried in oil. Sweet and studded with dried currants, finished with powdered sugar. They are a legend in the family, but lost, alas, since his aunt became senile.

Dark dining in Vancouver?

We'll be in Vancouver in about two weeks. It's a chowhound destination...any dark dining available? Dining in the dark is something I want to try at least once!

Best Pizza - San Diego

Here's a spin on the query...where are the best pizza parlors? You know, like the parlors of my youth, with tasty hot pizza hovering over refreshing pitchers of draft beer or soda? Where can I re-experience that in SD? Price, ambiance or location is no obstacle.

Where would you take your parents to lunch near USC?

Consider that it's Thursday lunchtime and you have 7 guests not likely to desire great hole-in-the wall ethnic food or head lightening cocktails. Oh, and it should be reasonable, not necessarily a chowhound money-is-no-object destination.

Sunday brunch in San Diego with an ocean view?

We have a large graduation brunch to plan for 15 adults in La Jolla in mid-June. We would really like an ocean view, but unfortunately the Marine Room isn't serving at 2:15 pm. What would you suggest? Preferably convenient to UCSD. Thanks!
