I agree. I make them better at home. Total waste of money!

Jake's Crab Shack

You're right. Ended up trying it and was very disappointed! I make better crabcakes at home.

Bone Fish Grill-- Brick-- Been there lately?

We went to the one in Brick last weekend. We didn't have a reservation and the wait was an hour and 45 minutes so we decided to just eat a few apps at the bar. The Bang Bang shrimp was out of this world!! We also loved the Ahi Tuna Sashimi. It was so fresh and it melted in your mouth. Can't wait to go back (with a reservation of course).

CHEESESTEAKS OCEAN COUNTY

The address is 3103 Rte 88 and it's actually in Pt. Pleasant, but right near the border of Brick. If you are coming from Pt. Pleasant it is on the right hand side and it's right after the Quick Check.

Squire's Pub in Monmouth County

Yeh, it was hard to "keep my figure" working there. Do you remember the 3 salad dressings they had in those metal servers? Blue cheese, Thousand Island and gorganzola and oil. So good and soooo fattening. One of my jobs was to fill them up before the parties. We used to dip the warm bread into the gorganzola, so yummy!! We would all pig out on chicken fingers, fries and pasta with pink sauce after our shifts and then snack on all the apps between trips in and out of the kitchen. I think I was twice the size I am now!

Squire's Pub in Monmouth County

Hi, I have many fond memories of Squires from when I was a teenager and some that are not so great. They did let us order anything we wanted after our shift and we used to eat all the leftover hor devours and food from the buffets after the banquets. I started out as one of the "relish girls" and then became a waitress when I turned 18. Fun place to work, and a lot of really nice people.

We just had the Cheesesteak Special at Pat's Pizza on Rte 88 in Brick. Very good! Tasted like a real Philly Cheesesteak.

Bistro 44 - Toms River

Thank you so much for recommending Bistro 44. My husband and I had an excellent dinner. We started with the Duck Spring Rolls-yum and we had the corn and crab bisque (a special that night). Both were outstanding! For our entees, we both had specials. I had scallops, asparagus and mushrooms over Linguine with a dijon white wine sauce. It was very good. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the sauce was excellent. My husband had Soft Shell Crabs. It came with a ham and sherry sauce which he didn't eat and asparagus and Basamati rice. The seasoning on the crabs was wonderful. We shared a Molten Lava cake for dessert-WOW! It had cookies and cream gelati and fresh strawberries on the side. Everything was delicious. The waitress was so nice and helpful. We were surprised at how empty it was for a Friday night. There were only maybe 5 tables seated. I would definitely go back again though. Thanks again for telling me about it!

Bistro 44 - Toms River

Hi, it's my birthday on Friday and my husband told me I can pick the restaurant. I saw your post on Bistro 44 and it looks really good. Do they have a liquor license? Also, what is the dress code (I never know what to wear)? Thanks!

The best homemade ice cream

Hoffman's in Spring lake is wonderful. We also like Jersey Freeze in Freehold for their incredible sort ice cream flavors and toppings.

A friend of mine had a small reception at The Salt Creek Grille in Rumson. I know she got it for a good price and they had their ceremony right near the water.

Maria Pia or Cara Mia?

We ended up going to Maria Pia. We got there around 5:20 and it was perfect timing. About 20 minutes later, the place was packed. My husband and I weren't starving so we shared 3 apps.(crab cake, tuna carpaccio and calamari). My parents had the Striped Bass. The portions weren't huge, but everything was excellent. I would go back again.

Piccola Italia- Ocean Township

I agree, the food and service are excellent!! Unfortunately, since they got a liquor license and expanded the dining room, the cozy atmosphere is gone. It used to be my favorite restaurant. Any suggestions on a BYOB with equally great food?

Monmouth County-good restaurant for Anniversary dinner?

My husband and I are celebrating our second anniversary this summer and would love to find a romantic but not stuffy restaurant with excellent food. We're bored of our usuals (Bistro Ole, Piccola Italia, Buena Sera). Any good suggestions?
