Hainan Chicken Rice or Khao Man Gai Recommendations in the Bay Area?
I second Singapore Malaysian's Hainan Chicken Rice! The rice is so flavorful and the chicken is tender and fantastic (I like both the fried preparation and the steamed). I've never tried Kopitiam's chicken rice, but having spent a lot of time in Singapore, I found that the Singapore Malaysian's version is better than most that i've had in Singapore.
Truffle events/ dinners in the bay area?
Farina is doing a truffle dinner on Tuesday, Dec 8th. The menu read amazing when i went there for dinner last week and i booked a table on the spot. I went to Palio d'Asti 2 years ago for the truffle dinner and was really disappointed. It just wasnt anything special, which is hard to imagine for a truffle dinner. Will report back about Farina!
Yakitori across from Tian Sing/Cyril Magnin
Halu is fantastic for Yakitori, my fave are the chicken hearts, salted chicken wing, chicken liver and bacon wrapped asparagus. Last time I was there they have okonomiyaki on their special, which was very good. It's the thinner style, not thick as the ones in Japan Town. I think their yakitori is much better seasoned than the ones at Sumiya in Santa Clara
Where to find fresh Turmeric Roots in Bay Area?
Any suggestions as to where I can buy fresh turmeric roots in Bay Area? The only place I've seen them so far is at Draeger's in San Mateo, but they are quite expensive. Thanks for your help!
