Eggplant Parmigiana in Scottsdale or Phoenix?
I'm at the fairmont and am craving eggplant Parm. Can anyone update me on their latest favorite. Nearby would certainly be a plus. Have read good reviews for la toretta and also guiseppe's and would appreciate comments on those too. Thanks.
Lasagna for a crowd
Macchiavelli will sell by the pan and is less expensive than cafe lago.
Ft. Lauderdale Italian for a Group
I'm arranging a weekend for 10 college friends (now in our 40s) and I'm looking for a classic Italian American red-sauce restaurant. It's definitely something we're missing out here in Seattle, and I'm hoping you can lead me to some great lasagne, spaghetti with clams, parmagiana.... We'll be staying at the Westin Diplomat. Thanks.
Best Kept Secrets on the Eastside
I'll ditto that. Had lunch there yesterday. Food was hot, fresh and tasty and the staff was very friendly.
Cooking class at our home
We had a really fun and tasty birthday party with Naomi Kakiuchi of Nu Culinary. http://www.nuculinary.com/
Any East Coast style Chinese food in Seattle?
Try the wonton at Yea's Wok in Newcastle. It has the thicker skin you may be after and it's also pretty tasty.
[SEA] Pineapple Upside Down Cake
The best I've ever had was from Columbia City Bakery. It's not something I usually order, but had it on a whim and wow...
Overnite at LAX with children
I wanted to thank you all for your suggestions. We ended up staying at the hotel and eating at Shula's which turned out to be a good idea since our guests were over an hour late due to traffic. They had plenty of choices for the kids and the room was noisy enough that I did not worry about bothering other diners and the servers were attentive. Kids were a little bored, but they survived. I ordered the grilled steak and vegetable salad. Meat was great but the vegetables were so refrigerator cold that the contrast was jarring. Other entrees were enjoyed by my folks and the guests.
Overnite at LAX with children
We'll be 8 people. Sounds like this would be a long wait as they don't take reservations. Italian would have been great.
Overnite at LAX with children
Thank you. Do you know what night this is? I'll be there this coming Friday.
Dinner for 30 in Seattle?
We held a private dinner at Tulio's last night and the food and service were top-notch. Any issues were handled with a great positive attitude. The steaks, ahi and chicken all looked and tasted delicious.
Overnite at LAX with children
We'll be at the Sheraton next weekend with 3 generations - all good eaters. Wondering if Shula's is appropriate for school-age kids or if there is something better in the area - fun, family-friendly and chow-worthy. We won't have a rental car. Thanks in advance!
SEA - new york deli
Ate lunch there this week. Found the corned beef dry but the pastrami was very good as were the knishes - yum!
Dinner for 30 in Seattle?
Dahlia Lounge, Waterfront ($$), Steelhead Diner, Flying Fish, Tulios, Six Seven at the Edgewater all can handle that. I've done private parties at all but Steelhead and have had great experiences.
Attn: East Coasters- Where's The Decent Chinese Food In Seattle??
I moved here from the East Coast 10 years ago and, too, was initially disappointed with the Chinese food (and quite surprised to be charged for steamed rice). The one place that comes closest to the flavors and textures I was used to was Yea's Wok. It's definitely worth a try. In the meantime I've come to appreciate and truly enjoy West Coast Chinese at many of the places mentioned here.
sushi catering
Try www.sookfood.com. Kris Dews does an amazing job, if pricey. It's a several hour affair, one delicious piece at a time. I believe I Love Sushi in Bellevue will also do it.
Date recommendations on the Eastside (Redmond/Bellevue)?
Mediterranean Kitchen is great, but be careful of the garlic - don't want it to ruin the date!
build your own burger restaurant
Do you mean Fatburger? That place reminds me of Fuddruckers.
visit
I took my 6 year old to Le Pichet recently. I had a fabulous meal. She had a green salad and fries (no kids menu) but the best surprise was that the tables were chalkboards an she could draw while we ate.
Catered lunch recommendations?
We've had great lunch boxes from Macrina. I think that would fit in your budget.
Seattle to Seaside Road Trip
We will be traveling with kids down to seaside. The hubby doesn't like to venture too far off track but I love to try something new and local along the way. We'll be taking I-5 to Kelso then cutting over to Astoria. We'll probably be ready for lunch closer to Kelso. We're ready for a change from our usual stop at Burger King. Any suggestions?
SEA: Favorite falafel joint and fav Moroccan Restaurant?
I've been eyeing a place in Crossroads over in Bellevue called Truly Mediterranean. Has anyone been there?
Best alfresco dining in Seattle
On the Eastside I had a tasty meal last night at Calcutta Grill at the Newcastle Golf Course. We ate on the outdoor patio and the view was outstanding.
Real opinions on Goldberg's in Factoria
I was there last week for the first time in a long time. The corned beef/pastrami was quite good but the service was terrible. We waited 40 minutes for our food then after much agitation were served some things that were for another table. Service has always been the weak spot on each of my visits.
Good Lox in Seattle?
I use the Costco when I have a crowd. For myself I buy the Gerard and Dominique brand, found at most of the upscale grocery stores. It's no Zabars, but quite tasty nonetheless.
