Houston to Dallas Roadtrip

After I stop at Woody's I'm always ready for another stop in Corsicana at the Collin Street Bakery. They make nice fresh sandwiches if you don't want the fast food you normally find on the road. Best of all is their pecan pie. It's really unbelievable. Their home made breads are good, like a jalepeno cheese and a cinnamon loaf w/ icing.

Coal Vines? [Dallas] Pizza

I like Coal Vines but I looove Marco's. It's only been around about 40 years and have been eating there that long. The crust is thin and crispy, sauce has just enough tang to make your mouth water when you eat it and keep you addicted. Also has just the right amount of grease sitting on top, not too much, to be totally satisying. It's just a tiny take out with a smattering of two tops at the corner of Preston & Royal. I think they just started excepting credit cards. Used to be cash only.

Best Places to Eat on S. Padre Island?

Thank you for that well researched reply. I've never been to De Luna, nor have I heard of it, but sounds like a winner. Will try to go there next week. Looking for something besides the usual fried shrimp with fries basket. I love B&A as well.

Best Places to Eat on S. Padre Island?

I've been to S. Padre many times and always end up eating at the same couple of places.
Manuels (in Port Isabel) which is the best Tex-Mex breakfast anywhere in the world, and the Sea Ranch which is always packed. Anyone have any other favorites on the island?

Where can I find good pizza in Dallas?

Couldn't agree more. Marco's is my favorite. Never ate a better pizza anywhere. Been eating there for over 40 years!

I hear the hamburger at Mercury (Dallas) is made of tenderloin and is supposed to be incredible. Has anyone had it?

SF to Dallas with kids & parents

Your list is good but very diverse. From what you have listed I would reccomend Mercury. One of the best restaurants in Dallas. A little pricey and busy on a Saturday night if you're doing the kid thing. In the same area is The Woodlands, similar to Houston's. Also, Mi Cocina is a great local favorite for Tex-Mex. The Oceanaire at the Galleria is excellent, and good for a big group. The creamed corn is delicious. Very easy to get to from Coit and LBJ. If you're thinking Brazilian steakhouse try Fogo de Chao in Addison. Also pricey and busy but worth it if you're hungry.

Best Tex-Mex in Dallas 214 area

I have some out of town guests coming to Dallas who want to eat Tex-Mex while they are here. What do you reccomend besides El Fenix? Who has great authentic enchiladas????

Absolute best burger in Texas?

Goff's Hamburgers in Dallas, on Lovers or Preston. Their chili, cheese and onions is soooooooo good. Had one last night. Good fries also, order extra crispy. Love the low key atmosphere.

[DFW] Any Good Southern Cooked Breakfast Spots?

If you're in Dallas try the Mecca on Harry Hines. Must be 30-40 yrs old. Great chicken fried steak, migas and homemade cinnamon rolls that are so large they are falling off the plate. The waitresses have probably been there 30 yrs as well and are the real deal!

[DFW] Best Pecan Pie?

If you're willing to drive a little, the Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana (about an hour south on I-45) has an incredible pecan pie. Was pleasantly surprised when I picked one up as a gift for Thanksgiving.
