Max and Leo's. Real pizza just off exit 17, Newton.

I just tried L'Enza today. It's certainly a tasty artisan pie. It's a 14" pie sliced into sixths. I could finish one but it's better to split it with someone, particularly for lunch. If it were a full sized slice like I grew up with in NY I'm not sure it would fold.

I'm surprised to read they were questioning doing delivery because I really don't understand the menu given the space. There are two 2-tops, 4 seats at a nice beer/wine bar and about 6 along a wall counter. They don't sell slices or even a large pie. It really seems like it's designed around being a date place, but there aren't enough seats for that. I had wanted to try a slice or two for lunch but had to get a pie instead. For takeout I'd probably still go to Sweet Tomatoes in West Newton as parking is easier and I can get 2 larges for four people and have a few slices left over. Delivery from here would be great, but for four people (particularly guests) I'd consider getting 3 pies to be sure I would have enough.

Best Cheese you've had from Formaggio Kitchen/ Wine and Cheese Cask

I'll just say I often taste cheeses and have them cut to order at Russo's. It's never been a problem.

EEL

I had it as an appetizer (broiled I think) at Erbaluce in early January. It was a special but they were excited to have it on the menu so I don't know how often they get it.

Hamersley's, Aquitaine, Pop or Noche?

The roast chicken at Hamersley's is the best chicken dish I've ever had. You can certainly make roast chicken at home, but probably not this well.

Decadent Chocolate Saturdays at the Langham Hotel, Boston: What's your feedback?

I haven't been in more than 5 years, but I remember the Mexican Chocolate Soup as being fantastic.

Reed's Ginger Ice Cream

I just got some at the Washington St Whole Foods in Newton. They had a few of the original and more of the Green Tea, but no Chocolate.

Working in Waltham next week....

Ponzu on Moody St. has good sushi and lunch

Pizza in Waltham?

Sweet Tomatoes in West Newton isn't far. There's not a lot of seating if you're planning on eating there.

Boston Common Post-Movie Sun Night

We ended up having 6 people and went to Intermission Tavern. It worked out well and everyone enjoyed it. I think the hit was the maple bourbon cream sauce on the fried chicken. We got there at about 8pm and it would have been difficult to seat much bigger party. But it seems clear we won't be going to Remington's again.

Boston Common Post-Movie Sun Night

I'll be with a film club Sun night at at the Boston Common theater. We're looking for a place to eat afterwards that's casual allows for conversation, and is relatively inexpensive. We could have anywhere from 6-15 people and won't know till then, so a reservation isn't possible. Our normal spot is Remington's but we're trying to do better. I've searched this board and found a few ideas.

Silvertone would probably be perfect (if there wasn't a wait), but they're closed Sun. What about downstairs at Marliave? Could they deal with a large group at the last minute on a Sun night?

It will be a random group of people so adventurous probably isn't wise. Though Penang, Montien, and Xinh Xinh seem like possiblities. Thoughts?

Any other suggestions?

Where can I buy ginger beer?

A number of Whole Foods carry Ginger People Ginger Beer, by far my favorite.

New Pub Coming to West Newton

That might have been me having the tuna. I've been twice and will go again. It's not perfect but with a little time to get some kinks out I'll enjoy this place a lot.

Baby Greens, soaked cherries, goat cheese, spiced nuts and port balsamic vinaigrette. I had it without the goat cheese, delicious, but over dressed.

Seared Tuna Sashimi, thai red curry vinaigrette and seaweed salad. Four slices of tuna, raw on the inside, seared on the outside, crusted in black sesame seeds. The whole piece was cold, like it was pre-seared and sitting on ice for while. It was tasty, but would have been better if made-to-order. The seaweed salad was good. I'd normally get tired of it but finished the whole serving.

Chicken wings, home made hot sauce & Ever's blue cheese dressing. An order of I think 12 wings served in a metal bucket. Piping hot, delicious sauce, spicy hot but not burning. I don't think they were deep fried because they weren't crisp. My only complaint was that of the 12 wings, only one was of the drumstick variety which I prefer.

Salmon, roasted garlic mashed bacon/mushroom salad, red wine sauce. I was asked how I wanted the salmon cooked, which I wasn't expecting but medium turned out good. The salmon was hot and delicious. It was served over a base of mashed potatoes with the mushroom bacon salad in between. The potatoes were good though not particularly garlicky. Maybe they were but the overwhelming flavor on the plate was of mushrooms and bacon. Great earthy meaty flavor, but probably better suited to beef or pork rather than salmon. I'm ordering salmon I would have liked some good for you veggie in shade of green.

Desserts aren't on the menu but the server read three choices to me. The warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream came served on a plate drizzled with caramel that really brought them together. The cake was warm but not molten (which is wasn't advertised as being). Nice chocolate flavor, moist and dense for cake. Good stuff. It also came with a blackberry, raspberry and sliced strawberry which were delicious but also sitting in the caramel which as a combination didn't work as well for me.

Anyone been to Oishi for Restaurant Week lunch?

I had the same things and agree it was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. I did add one piece of Unagi because I wanted to try theirs. It was delicious, but about $4 for one piece. Service wasn't as good as their prices warrant, my tea cup was dirty and we were first seated at the bar instead of at one of the available tables downstairs.

Bronzetti's in Framingham

For me this was very good bar pizza. Growing up in NY this isn't the really thick sicilian that I remember. This is a rectangular pie with a slightly thicker than normal thin crust and just a little more crust at the edge. It was tasty, with a good sauce. I wouldn't make a trip for it but if I were in the area I'd go back (though I'd probably go to Sichuan Gourmet across the street instead).

Bronzetti's in Framingham

Thanks, looking forward to trying it.
