Naked PIzza - coolidge corner

I love pizza and after trying Naked PIzza a few times....and a few different styles...it's safe to say I will never go back.
It tasted (to a both of us) just a hair better than frozen pizza. In fact, it tasted like frozen pizza.
The crust (both regular and thin) was boring with little flavor. The sauce tasted out of the can and the cheese was bland. The various toppings tried were tasteless or just plain bad (the sausage).
I really, really wanted to like this as I won't go to the nearby Upper Crust for a variety of reasons.
I guess I will have to drive up the road to Presto's or Pino's for pizza.
Naked Pizza....not for me.

Tasty Burger

chocolate.
wanted to keep it simple for the first go round

Tasty Burger

here's my quick take on tasty burger:
burger - better than expected. much better than uburger. closer to 5 guys or wild willy's. had a double without cheese.
fries - not so great. prefer the places mentioned above for fries
shake - shake had an odd taste...not sure if it was the syrup or the ice cream.

still...it's about the burgers and this was a really decent burger for the price.

Monday night sushi Boston/Brookline/Cambridge for $50pp?

Genki Ya on harvard ave is the best. Never had anything bad there. Small place and can be busy but it's worth it.

Pizzeria Dante - A hidden gem you need to discover

this is a tough one for me because i'm kind of neutral on the place even though I really want to like it. prior to pizza dante it was pizza republic and i think they did a better job with the same menu. i agree that the folks working there are always very nice so i will go back but i wish it was better. it's not bad by any means but it could be so much more.

Eagles Deli - reopened

Went today and had a burger and fries lunch special. The burger looked so good....but tasted so bad. I was incredibly disappointed. It had no flavor. Maybe it was a bad day or something. Will try again...but probably the grilled chicken.
The fries were only fair.

Your thoughts on the Bluestone Bistro

absolutely, it was one of the first upscale pizza places in boston.
it had unique toppings and the other main dishes were upscale and very tasty..including a great salad with mandarin oranges. but those days are way gone in the new incarnation

Your thoughts on the Bluestone Bistro

It used to be so good and now, sadly, it isn't.
Several new owners since the old days. It's kinda like a House of Pizza type pizza now.
But they really used to have the best crust around. Nowhere close to it now. Maybe someone will try to get it back to what it used to be.

Toscanini's vs. Christina's

i second that. regardless of one's favorite being Emack, Jp licks, Toscanini's etc., be thankful we have such a range of choices and aren't dependent on coldstone...which seems to be trying ever so hard to invade all of boston ala starbucks.

Toscanini's vs. Christina's

You would take the word of someone that likes Richardson's Ice Cream sitting at a movie theatre for who knows how long over JP Licks? It was on my list but not near the top. It has some good flavors. I think it is over rated in general. I think Christina's is way over rated but it's in Cambridge and seems to give it a leg up for reasons unknown.

Best pizza in Boston?

I go to Presto's for plain cheese and Pino's for sausage. I used to only go to Presto's but they recently changed from sliced sausage to this terrible tasting sausage drops or something. So when in the mood for sausage I now head over to Pino's. But I really do enjoy them both.

Best pizza in Boston?

I second the opinion about Presto's in Cleveland Circle. Pino's...just a few doors down is excellent, too.
These are so much better than the Upper Crust it boggles this pizza lover's mind that the crowds flock to what's in as opposed to what's good.

Toscanini's vs. Christina's

Herrels
Emack and Bolio's
Toscanini's
JP Licks
Christina's
in that order for me. Like them all, really.

Boston: relocated ice cream, chacarero, Ritz

Emack and Bolio's is across from Aquarium Parking Garage. Same building as Legal and Sel De La Terre. We visit often. Has a bit of outdoor seating. Serious Chocolate Addiction is my weakness!

ice cream near Quincy Market?

Yeah, it's a nice little Emack and Bolio's with a bit of outdoor seating. It's near the new fountain on the Greenway, too. Great for an evening snack, nice setting and so much better (and more affordable) than that stuff at Quincy Market. I've tried it a few times this spring.

Best Chicken Parmigiana

Comella's is okay but I think that Carlos Cucina in Allston is the tops in the Chicken Parm story.

New restaurant in Brookline

Found this little blurb about the place:
Owner Misako Uda ran Roka, an Osaka-style Japanese restaurant in Cambridge, from 1990 until its closure last year.

Shiki diners will be able to nibble on dishes such as crab rolls or steak with ginger sauce until midnight, Uda said.

Soul Fire in Allston

Anyone ever been there..

Seafood on the waterfront?

Then you should walk around the corner and have dessert at Emack & Bolio's Ice Cream. They have a beautiful location with a grand view from their outdoor tables. Better for dessert than Legal.

JP coffeehouses with free WiFi?

WiFi is free at Emack and Bolio's. Real good chocolates are a new addition to the ice cream and coffee etc.

Dinner for 60 in the North End

It's on the border of the North End and it's not the best but it might be able to accommodate 60 people and it's kid friendly and there's places nearby for the kids to hang out...this would be Legal Sea Foods by the Aquarium. Just a thought.

Dining within walking distance to Fenway

Burton's just opened at the new Trilogy building. They are on the Boylston street side across from the Star Market and around the corner from the new Emack and Bolio's across from the movie theatre. Burton's is pretty decent and a new upscale venture for the neighborhood.

Thai - Rod Dee or Dok Bua?

Rod Dee does great Duck dishes, too. The one on Peterborough has a bit more indoor seating and plenty of outdoor seating in warm weather compared to Brookline.

Sushi in/near Chestnut Hill?

oishi is truly memorable but as stated above, the wait can be very long and there's no real place to sit etc. Still, the sushi is the best. Period

Zenna Noodle, Brookline. Anyone been?

Went there once after they first opened and was underwhelmed. Thought the food was on the bland side. Friends have been there and have enjoyed it but they haven't been back either. It's a very pretty atmosphere so it's worth checking out to see for yourself.

Kolbe(sp) Kebab, U-Burger, Maverick Sq.

As to U-Burger...I am in full agreement. Went there thinking it might be something special after reading some of the comments here but was totally unimpressed. The Burger tasted little different than one found at the big chains. Maybe I hit it on a bad day.

Sel de la Terre, Boston, Wonderful Evening

Wait till summer and the opening of the park across from the Aquarium Parking Garage which is not part of the Greenway project (so it will open on time), as well as the Greenway fountain (if it opens this summer) and the whole area by Sel de la Terre will make for a wonderful time by the waterfront as it will be beautiful in the spring/summer.

Ice Cream at Brattle theatre & Sommerville theatre

I think Coolidge Corner Cinema serves Herrel's

dessert/drinks/live music Fri night Newton/Brookline

you might try finale in coolidge corner

Pino's or Presto's?

Another vote for Presto's. I've been to both more times than I can count and have trended more and more towards Presto's.
Crust is very good as is the sauce and cheese. I also like their sausage. Pino's is good but Presto's is better.
