Why Do People Take Photos in Restaurants?

All I am saying is that people get themselves so worked up over so many things that I have just come to let go and just enjoy life as it comes ;]

Why Do People Take Photos in Restaurants?

Certainly, one could apply that rule to simply leaving the house, but if you spend your time sweating these things, you might as well never go out. My theory, which applies to many, many "annoyances" within the restaurant world, from the staff side to the patron side, going out to dine is a sheer luxury by a lot of standards, so I say, go out, enjoy great food, enjoy good conversation, forget the rest (grin)

Clipping Coupons...saved me $3k last year!

I would love to use coupons, the few times I come across one that's for something I actually buy, Im excited to save a dollar of, two for one, etc but the big problem for me is almost every coupon is for oreos or bisquick or voila frozen meals or stouffers, etc etc, There are very rarely any coupons for organic, whole, non-processed foods so...I lose.

Fess Up, Fabulous Home Cooks. What have you ruined lately?

Last night actually, didn't "ruin" it but since it is one of my favorite things to eat and make, it was not at all up to my standards... I was attempting my glorious chimmichurri, ended up making it in a blender because my food processor was giving me attitude, didnt have near enough garlic, ran out of olive oil and ended up using melted butter, had to add extra red wine to get it to blend and even though it actually tasted damn good, it was no where near the consistency or flavor that I normally whip up, oddly enough, the night before, my husband messed up one of his dishes too. Bad start to this cook week. Hah ;]

I'm a regular at this place for over ten years, should I be offended?

This is somehow such a HUGE debaucle in the restaurant world but the bottom line is when you go somewhere and order something it's not like buying a shirt or a pair of shoes where you try them on, they don't fit, you take them back unharmed, reusable, *for re-sale. Food is obviously not a test drive or a pair of shoes that can be re-sold to the world...therefore why should the company have to take the hit because you ordered something you didn't like? If you're a faithful customer to this establishment, you should understand that more than the regular joe... I would think.

Putting money in tip jar, but server has turned away

I go through this trauma everytime I go thru the Starbucks drive through...the transaction is such a quick one that normally by the time they've run your card and hand it back to you they've walked off to get the drink, and then once they have handed you a drink, they close their little windows, so now (unless service is awful, but usually never is) I make a point to hand them my dollar or two when they hand me my drink, it's instant acknowledgement! Although I've def tipped without it being seen for the sole fact that it all counts at the end of the day... ;]

What should I teach middle schoolers to do in the kitchen?

Firstly, where were you when I was in middle school??

Secondly, looks like you've been teaching them very valuble skills.

I would suggest teaching them how to make the classic "bad" food healthy-er. It's ok to have the cheeseburger and fries, and even the milkshake - but there are better ingredients to use to make it not only unique, but much better for you!

So, Even if You Eat Out, Are You Tipping Less?

There is no reason to be tipping any less, if I can afford to go out (no matter the economic times), I can afford to tip properly, unless there is some issue with the service itself.

It's sad people use the current status of our enconomy to screw the service industry - makes NO sense.

Hello all - husband and I were going to Mise en Place off of Kennedy in Tampa for my birthday, for lunch but sadly they are closed on Sundays.

Any recs for the same caliber of restaurant anywhere in the Tampa Bay area? Esp the coziness of Mise..

Thanks!

Does chow not taste as good with unchowish friends?

I'm not sure about not tasting as good, but certainly not as fun, mildly annoying, etc..

Went out with a really good friend of mine just recently to a nice italian place.. she heckled the fact that I ordered such "good" wine, that it cost it much as it did and that I took a whole 3 minutes surveying the wine menu.. She thought grilled chicken and goat cheese was a total miss and couldnt believe I turned my nose up at her midori sours and shrimp alfredo..

Aye.. good thing we have lots of other things in common =P

Lunch at work = naptime? Help.

Thank you everyone for your responses!!! I think the big miss here is I almost never eat breakfast, and that could very well be the key because when I do eat lunch I am pretty hungry usually and I load up because of it.. then my body must be like huh, ok... nap time.

Thank you everyone!

Lunch at work = naptime? Help.

Ok, I am actually stumped on this one... what can I possibly eat at work that doesn't make me want to fall out of my chair stone tired about an hour after eating?

Is it me? Am I eating too large at lunch? (sandwich and soup)
Is it normal to feel that midday lull no matter what?
Could it be the stillness?Should I take a brisk 5 minute walk - post eating?

What can I eat/do that will keep me perky and less....blah?
