Spiga, Sardinia, or Hosteria Romano?

Looking for Italian on a Wednesday evening. Solid great food and service are main desires with quiet atmosphere a plus. Any specifics that can help us decide would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Road food between Everglades City and Key West besides Alabama Jack's?

We are driving from Everglades City to Key West next Friday, US-41 to US-1. We know about Alabama Jack's and plan to catch it on our return to Miami. Is there any other road food we need to know about, or should we just concentrate on getting to Key West?

Cafe Marquesa in Key West?

We are staying at The Marquesa and wonder if the restaurant is as good as the hotel seems to be. Anyone have any experience to share? How does it compare to Pisces, Black Fin Bistro, 7 Fish, etc.?

Everglades City in June

We are staying in Everglades City for three nights in early June. There are not many options, but I hope we can get some suggestions on the best bets -- where to go and what to order. Thanks very much.

Four Days of Eating -- Any Thoughts?

I have always wondered why the hate on Jacques-Imo's. I haven't been in several years, but when I did go it was a lot of fun and that alligator cheesecake was a tasty treat... As it was we ate at Clancy's instead and had a fantastic meal and a large time at the Maple Leaf.

Four Days of Eating -- Any Thoughts?

We will be eating our way through town the first weekend in March. I have some new places, some non-negotiable places, and some old favorites. Anyone have any thoughts? For example, I'm a bit nervous about dinner at R'evolution after a recent post...

Saturday dinner: NOLA (reliably good past experiences and need a late dining time.
Sunday Brunch: Arnaud's
Sunday Dinner: R'evolution
Monday Lunch: Commander's Palace
Monday Dinner: Stella! (My son is a back waiter and bartender there and we are promised VIP treatment)
Tuesday Lunch: Coop's (will be doing business in the Quarter and love their rabbit jambalaya)
Tuesday Dinner: Jacques-Imo's (going to hear Re-Birth at the Maple Leaf next door)

Would be gratified to hear any comments or alternative suggestions.

Retro Dining at Hotel?

I am trying to remember the name of an old-school sort of dressy restaurant in a big hotel on Nob Hill or Union Square. Have tried several different searches but have come up empty. It's a red leather booth and strong cocktail sort of place... Or am I crazy?

Robert's In Paso Robles

In regards to Thomas Hill Organics, not a huge fan of the menu for dinner. I'm really just wanting to know about Robert's. Thanks.

Robert's In Paso Robles

We are considering Robert's for one of our Paso Robles meals next month. Our other night is Il Cortile. We are sort of burned out on Bistro Laurent, and frankly found the noise level at Artisan overshadowed whatever was going on with the food. We always have lunch at Panolivo, and breakfast at Paso Robles Inn. So, has anyone been to Robert's recently? Love the look of the menu, but don't want to waste a whole night if the place does not live up to the potential suggested by the menu. Thanks.

Bourbon Cherry Preserves Turned Gummy

Thanks for your diagnosis. I will have another try and stop cooking sooner.

Bourbon Cherry Preserves Turned Gummy

I made a batch of bourbon cherry preserves with no added pectin and it turned out gummy. I tested for set every two minutes and it seemed okay when I took it off the heat. I added the bourbon as called for in the recipe and processed in a water bath canner. The finished product can only be described as, well, gummy. Not at all preserve-like. I've never worked with alcohol in preserves before, so was wondering if this was the expected result. Or is there some other explanation? Before I spend another $15 on cherries, I need some guidance. Thanks.

We have one night in Bardstown in early June. Circa looks pretty perfect for us, but is there another choice I should be considering? Thanks in advance.

Corbin, KY?

Thanks so much for the ideas! Will re-think the KFC thing -- it was only for historical reasons were were considering it in the first place. We will have plenty of time to try Bubby's, Depot, Basil, and Weaver's.

Grand Ole Opry Post Show Dinner

We are attending the 7 p.m. Grand Ole Opry performance (which we are told lasts about 2 hours) at the Opry House on a Saturday. Is it possible to get to a 9:30 p.m. dinner reservation at Watermark after the show?

Corbin, KY?

We are staying two nights at the Cumberland Falls Resort in Corbin and need to know where to eat. Apparently NOT at the resort? I have chili buns at Crabtree's Root Beer Stand on our list, as well as the Harland Sanders Museum and Cafe. Any other must eats in the area? Price, atmosphere and food style are all open -- we just want straight-up good food.
Thanks in advance,

Driving From Lynchburg, TN to Asheville, NC -- anything good to eat?

Hey Littleman -- after reading up on the places you suggested in Crossville, we changed our reservations from the Holiday Inn Express in Harriman to the one in Crossville. We want to try one of the BBQ places for lunch (Big Boy's probably) and eat at the Brass Lantern for dinner. The menus at both places are CLASSIC! Thanks for the tips!

Driving From Lynchburg, TN to Asheville, NC -- anything good to eat?

I had feared that Harriman was a chain-only situation. And it's hard to imagine myself in a town founded on temperance! We'll just have to suffer through Cracker Barrel or Shoney's or some such nonsense for one night. And thanks also for the road closure/alternate route tips. Hopefully by the end of May things will be cleared up.

Driving From Lynchburg, TN to Asheville, NC -- anything good to eat?

We will be taking the 55 from Lynchburg to the 40 all the way to Asheville, NC with a stop overnight in Harriman, TN.

We are hoping to avoid corporate chain food if at all possible and are open to anything chowhounds might suggest. Our goal is always to find where local people would go for straight-up good food. It might be a roadside chicken shack, a back-country barbecue joint, or the place you go for a birthday or anniversary.

Thanks in advance.

Campanula on New Year's Eve?

We got bumped from our long-standing reservation for New Year's Eve dinner and found a spot at Campanula. Our original plan was dressy and very French, but it looks like the food at Campanula could make us very happy. Anybody eaten there recently?

New Year's Day Dining

We are looking for a place open for dinner on New Year's Day. Tried Zuni Cafe, Perbacco, Frascati, and Boulevard with no luck. This list gives you an idea of the kind of place and price point we are looking for. Need to stay in the city -- our hotel is just off Union Square. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Sunday in Florence?

Sostanza is there because I saw recent, positive reviews here and on other sites. If it's a no-go, please tell me and why. I'll definitely check out the other suggestions.
Thanks,

Rome in Two Weeks: The finalized plan?

Vinoroma,
Thank you for all your good advice. My plan is to have the hotel concierge make my reservations for me. Also, thanks for the tip on upstairs at Roscioli. Is there a room or floor I should request at Antico Arco?
Best,

Sunday in Florence?

Hello everyone,
Now that my Rome plan is pretty well set, I'm on to Florence.. The list is:
Sostanza
Vini e Vecchi Sapori
Casalinga
Cibereo Trattoria (not ristorante)

One problem is that we are there on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Anybody know a good Sunday dinner spot? Are there any reasons to get rid of any of my choices above? Any places I should look at further? We are looking to spend 40 euro or less per person and are interested in solid, seasonal, fresh, typically local food with good value wine.
Thank you for any suggestions,
Amy

Rome in Two Weeks: The finalized plan?

Hello everyone,
Thanks to all your help and lots of reading, the plan is as follows:
Thursday dinner: Roscioli
Friday Lunch: Palatium (over La Campana for wine selection)
Friday Dinner: Antico Arco (with the knowledge that the good food will be worth the price and the possibility of tourist Siberia seating)
Saturday Lunch: Pizzarium (will be in that area)
Saturday Dinner: Colline Emiliane

I still am wondering if Ditirambo might be a good option for one of the dinners. The suckling pig on the menu has got my attention....

Should I reserve for lunches? I'm thinking 9 p.m. for dinner. Am I there yet?
Thanks,
Amy

Rome: Studied hard, need some tutoring

@tavoleroman: Thank you for the explanation. For dinner we do prefer something warm and relaxing and quiet. So, for dinner you would recommend Antico Arco, or La Gensola? I think Settembrini is too fishy for me? I really appreciate your insight. Thank you.
