A decent burger on Cleveland West Side...
penoose - I have occasionally gotten an overcooked burger at B Spot. When the server asks how I'm enjoying my meal, I tell her. If the burger was overcooked, they have always offered to replace it, and usually whisk it away and made me a new one immediately (and sometimes they even take it off the check). I always order mine medium rare. The beef is delicious.
Uniquely Cleveland/Akron dining for visiting NYC hound?
I've dined at Lola a number of times and I have never been disappointed. But there are many other great culinary options in Cleveland, as noted above. I hope you get to try some of them!
Uniquely Cleveland/Akron dining for visiting NYC hound?
Jane - I can't say much about Akron, but please don't lump Cleveland's finer dining in with it! It doesn't look like you got to try any of the more food-forward options in Cleveland. As a re-located New Yorker, let me assure you that Cleveland has some amazing, cutting edge food, as identified by the posters above. Places like Lola, Lolita, Dante, Crop, and Greenhouse Tavern can hold their own against anything you can get in NY, and offer a number of things you won't see there at all.
BTW - NYC does have one Cambodian restaurants - Kampuchea http://kampucheanyc.com/, which I have tried and liked, but not as much as Cleveland's Phnom Penh.

FYI - Lucy's has relocated to the former Chandler & Rudd building at Warrensville Road and Van Aken Boulevard in Shaker Heights.
gluten-free or vegan dining in Cleveland
The Greenhouse Tavern has daily vegan specials and I believe they accommodate gluten free also. Call them and see.
CLE- Beef at WSM?
Miller's will be delivering to Fire Restaurant on March 29 in the AM; you can contact them if there is anything you'd like to pick up that day and time from them.
Vegetarian options in Cleveland, especially the Coventry area?
The Greenhouse Tavern (and it's little sister restaurant Noodlecat) prides itself on offering a meaningful selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Any good food in Destin?
Definitely seek our Marie's - everything we sampled there last winter was perfection and pricing is incredibly reasonable. MARIE’S BISTRO & CATERING 2260 W 30-a, Santa Rosa Beach, Fl. 32459 – our best and favorite find in 2011! (850) 837-7538. http://catering-destin.com/Bistro_Menu.html. Mediterranean cuisine and sushi, with additional features, space and a liquor license having been added since our February 2011 visit.
I am also partial to Shoo Mama's on 98 where we enjoyed a nice meal. I'd steer clear of Dewey's on 98 (the original shack on the pier off Calhoun Street can be good for lunch).
Callahans Restaurant & Deli (850) 837-6328 791 Harbor Blvd, Destin, FL 32541 features a Pick-your-own beef meat case, some fresh fish selections, and homemade sides. Crowded at peak times, fair prices.
If you enjoy wine, you might like (Vin' tij) Wine Boutique, (850) 650-9820. Rt 98 in Miramar Beach. Eclectic menu and optional wine flights with meals, full retail wine market with decent pricing and nice food.
I actually prefer Louis Louis to Red Bar. West end of 98, 1.5 miles east of 30A/98 intersection (Gas Station with Subway) – is similar to The Red Bar and owned by the same family. Eclectic décor, excellent food and service (they also do the famous crab cakes on Friday nights). Save room for dessert! No credit cards, personal checks accepted, ATM on premises.
I am hoping to try Fire in its new location this year closer to Destin - Gulf Place, 7 Town Center Loop, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459 (Just off the intersection of HWY 393 and 30A).
Brunch: Sunday: 11:00am - 2:00pm
Dinner: Monday - Saturday: 5:30pm - 10:00pm
Lunch: Tuesday- Friday: 11:00am - 2:30pm
http://www.restaurantfire.com/. Fire recently promoted Chris Mongogna to Executive Chef – I’m very excited by the menu and his commitment to local products. Priced commiserate to quality – neither cheap nor excessive, and said to be the best Sunday brunch in the area.
In the same Gulf Place plaza is Smiling Fish Cafe, 850-622-3071, Gulf Place, Corner Hwy. 30-A and 393. Wen they’re on, they’re fabulous. We had a terrific dinner in 2011. Lunch: Mon-Sat 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., Dinner: Tues-Sat 5:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. Al Fresco Gulf-View Dining. http://www.smilingfishcafe.com/
Finally, there is a new game in town: – Tightlines has taken the old Lucky Snapper space at 76 Harbor Blvd Destin FL and is getting good reviews from the locals. www.tightlinesdestin.com They claim to serve local fish and seafood, and the Apalachicola Oysters have gotten raves from at least one local food person I correspond with, though I haven't yet been there myself.
Cleveland: Recommendation needed off I-271
Stuart - I would respectfully have to disagree. I've rarely eaten anything really enjoyable at Corky's and the last knish I took out from there was inedible. If OP really wants Eastern European ethnic - I'd have to say that Jack's is the better of the two.
No one has mentioned Anatolia Cafe, which is Turkish and has a great reputation (though I haven't been to the new incarnation yet) - it is a bit further from 271, but might fit the OP's bill.

Where to eat in the West Palm Beach area on Christmas
The West Palm Beach Marriott foodservice operation is headed by Ellis Cooley, and he is an amazing chef. If Chinese doesn't float your boat, I'd see what his property is offering.
Cleveland: Recommendation needed off I-271
Rock N Roller is right - Jack's and Corky's are both underwhelming. If you are looking for smoked meat, your best bet is just a little further south on 271 to Fat Casual BBQ.
For a more refined place, Fountain or Flour, both in the same plaza on SOM Center Road not far from 271, may fit the bill. Or perhaps Moxie, just north of Chagrin on Richmond - it has never disappointed me for a delicious lunch.
And yes, I am also a huge B Spot fan.

Spending time in Cleveland for Christmas with Family.
Depends what you mean by "very nice". All three posters have named delicious options. Look at their menus online to see which food most appeals to you.
I'd add Dante to their list - together, probably Cleveland's finest four. Moxie and Fire, both a little further from downtown, are also outstanding. Again, it really depends on what you are looking for.
Seeking a restaurant in the Delray Beach/Boynton Beach area...
We had a lovely meal at Henry's last January.
One night out in Destin/30A area
Actually, Red Bar is owned by Oli Petitte. 331 was, and Louis Louis is, owned by Oli's brother Philippe. There are a lot of similarities between the two places, but also definite differences. We enjoy them both, but have always had a slight preference for 331/Louis Louis.
Wekick - please report on the new Nick's when you have a chance!

One night out in Destin/30A area
Cafe Tango was sold last year, and I haven't been back since, though it was my favorite. I'm hearing mostly good reports about the new owners, who've kept the same menu and kitchen help.
Right next door to Tango is Basmati's, and we've had two nice lunches there.
Haven't been to Fire since it moved, but it is very reliable.
Haven't had any experience with Paradis.
We really enjoyed the Smiling Fish Cafe on our last visit, as well as Marie's, which is more casual but the food is fantastic! Best shrimp and fish on the trip.
Nick's on 30A is getting great reviews, though we haven't been yet.
Finally, I'd also recommend Louis Louis on 98 (no reservations taken, no credit cards, checks accepted and ATM on premises) for funky decor, exquisite food (save room for dessert) and a fun time. It can get a little loud on the bar side.

Take Out Dinner in Destin
If it's not too late - take out from Marie's on 30A (excellent sushi, plus meat, fish, seafood etc) - everything is delicious and reasonably priced.
House of Klaus is great also - house made ice cream, huge burgers, tasty fried shrimp and other goodies, and everything readily available for take out.
Downtown Cleveland recs for a single
Many of the E. 4th street restaurants have great happy hour food and drink specials at their bars - check with the individual places for times and prices. Chinato also does a late happy hour (after 9pm?) and others may also.

Any "must eats" in the Destin / 30A area?
My current favorite is Marie's Bistro on 30A in Blue Mountain Beach. Fabulous, fresh food with an Asian flare and wonderful sushi. We also had a delicious dinner at Smiling Fish Cafe during our last Destin visit.
For made-from-scratch ice cream and burgers - House of Klaus; he's expanded the menu (which we didn't know or save room for when we were there) and everything looked good.
Cleveland's West Side Market
Market garden brewery just opened on west 25th st next to the west side market. Their house made beers are also excellent.
Rehearsal dinner in Cleveland for 70 people?
70 people is a lot for a restaurant. Dante in Tremont has a private room, but I don't know if it can accommodate that many people. Lolita has a large upstairs room - I think it can hold that many folks; call them and speak with Matt Harlan.
Also, Chinato on E. 4th has a large private room downstairs that might accommodate. Lola has a private room downstairs, but I don't know that it will hold 70 people.
If you are willing to venture a short distance from downtown, Chef Jeff Jarrett is in charge of foodservice at the Marriott hotel on 150th Street, and would do a fantastic job providing unique and creative dishes for your party, and they definitely have space to accommodate you. He is the executive Chef of AMP 150, the in-hotel restaurant, and we enjoyed his fabulous cuisine at the recently closed Palate Restaurant in Strongsville. AMP 150 has an on-property vegetable garden and apairy, and Jeff is a fabulous chef who uses local ingredients.

Cleve restaurants that allow wine brought in
Technically, under the Ohio Revised Code, no restaurant in Ohio, unless it has a liquor permet, may legally permit patrons to consume or possess an open container of alcohol. "BYOB" is not legal in the state of Ohio pursuant to Ohio Revised Code ("ORC") Section 4301.62. However, as a practical matter, many places do allow it. Since it if only enforced by the police, who usually have other things to do, it does happen a lot.
Permitted establishments are only allowed to serve (or allow to be served in their premises) alcohol that they have purchased pursuant to their permits; charging "corkage" and allowing to you bring your own bottle is again technically illegal, though it happens all the time. The potential consequences to the establishment are greater if they have a permit, because this type of violation can be enforced against them by the Ohio Department of Liquor Control, which has local agents/inspectors everywhere in the state.
Cleveland's West Side Market
Dohar's Smokies. Crepes from the crepe stand. Maha's Falafel. Ohio City Pasta. Corn tortillas from Orale (and their prepared foods are delish also). Bread from Mediterra. Cambodian treats from Kim Se. Fudge from Ohh Fudge (or brittles - if you like spice, try the Habenero). Unusual quinoas, cous cous and similar items from Urban Herbs.
Near the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame [Cleveland]
I think your best bet, based on the above, is East 4th Street - it's a short walk (or shorter cab ride) from your hotel, and you can get a great burger at GHT with casual atmosphere and service even late. There is nothing great on 9th Street, unfortunately.
If you are visiting after mid-July, you might enjoy Noodlecat (also owned by GHT principal Jon Sawyer) which will open around July 15, and feature noodles in a Tampopo-type setting.
Near the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame [Cleveland]
Cavandre - great burgers can be found at The Greenhouse Tavern, Moxie, fire (grass fed Aaron Miller beef is outstanding) and my personal favorite, Michael Symon's B Spot.

Searching for nice grocers btwn Cleveland and Fort Wayne?
Cleveland has a thriving Asiatown (www.clevelandasiatown.com) where you will find a number of well stocked Asian groceries.
A bit of New York in the Midwest
Mister Brisket and Jack's are open both days of the weekend.
Dinner in Cleveland tonight, suggestions welcome
Both of these are excellent choices. Greenhouse has prided itself on its vegetarian/vegan options, so that might give it a slight edge over Chinato. Both have a late night Happy Hour menu, I'm pretty sure. Both serve delicious food crafted by hand from local ingredients where possible (again, GHT has a slight edge in the local/sustainable dept, but Chinato makes pasta and everything else from scratch and it is all delicious). Let us know how it turns out!
Another late night option requiring a cab ride, would be Dante, in Tremont, which now offers a late night night Asian noodle menu.

fire is an excellent choice. Other great choices are Lola, Crop (which will re-open late summer-fall in Ohio City), Dante, Parallax, Fahrenheit, and Chinato. Make the evening even more special with a pre or post dinner drink at the Velvet Tango Room.
