Lidia Bastianich signing books in Menlo Park Mall-Edison, NJ
I know this isn't food related per se, but Lidia Bastianich will be signing copies of her books at the Barnes & Noble in the Menlo Park Mall in Edison New Jersey, Wednesday, December 17th, @ 7:00 pm.
This would make a great personalized holiday gift!
good value/great food near lincoln center
i'm taking the bf to the opera monday night. i'm looking for great food at a decent price near lincoln center. we usually hit rosa mexicana, as i love their 'ritas, but i don't think i can do mexican before a 3+ hour show. any type of food is okay, probably something more upscale, as we'll be tuxed. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
thanks in advance,
Refrigerating Bahn Mi--What's the verdict?
I just moved to NJ, and want to introduce my coworkers to Bahn Mi. I'll probably get them from Nicky's Vietnamese. Can I refrigerate the sandwiches for a day? Should I deconstruct them first? I have access to a professional panini press at work--should i press them or mic them or neither?
Any experiences with eating day old Bahn Mi--good or bad--would be highly appreciated.

Very good cuban sandwich
I just had a delicious cuban at la habana on 4th ave between 42nd and 43rd (5219 4th ave) in brooklyn. lots of moist pork! and big! $5.50. great deal.

Yikes, Chowhound Crisis
if la mela is the only restaurant you've eaten at in little italy, i understand your disgust. isn't that restaurant for new jersey rehearsal dinners or cheap office parties?
try the rabbit at grotto azzurra--i don't think they have a garden tho.
Frank Restaurant in E. Village
no, trendy's fine, but if you after around 6:00, expect to wait quite a while in line with a lot of people who just got off the l train. they don't take reservations.
Frank Restaurant in E. Village
i used to hate the place, just because of throng of hipsters that take over the sidewalk after about 7:00, but their food really is good. and cheap (thus, the old milwaukee crowd!)
stick to the simple stuff, which they do with amazing skill. their penne in a tomato sauce with basil is very good, as is the broccoli and garlic.
keep in mind, after sunset it's still an annex of williamsburg.
my top three square pizza slices -- any others i should try?
my fav in the city is vinny vincenz on 1st ave right below 14th. i usually get the plain or with arugula or basil only. the crust is crispy and the sauce is slightly sweet. plus, they have dollar glasses of beer while you wait.
i found this while googling for the name: http://www.sliceny.com/archives/2004/09/vinny_vincenz_o_1.php
