Which Brooklyn restaurant's have the longest wait? Which have the hardest to score reservation?
How bad are the waits these days? I was thinking of heading there tonight.
Thanks.
Fairway coming to Westbury, LI
ANy idea when it will open. My office is five minutes from there--this is excellent news!
How else can I cook sausage?
Cut them in chunks, brown them, throw in wok or deep pan and sautee peppers, onions, add chicken/beef broth and red wine, cook, reduce. Serve over rice/grain of choice.

Cheskel's Shwarma King in BP has an outdoor, covered back room, which we once reserved for a Chulent party about 4-5 years ago.
Latkes/Sufganiyot in Great Neck?
Robocop described the sufganiyot well--sumptuous and fresh. My car still smells like a bakery this morning. They were delicious and a huge hit, kids and adults alike. The latkes were very good too. No leftovers, always a good sign.
I spoke to the owners/managers for a few minutes-really nice guys.
Sufganiyot were $2.00 and latkes were $1.00.
And they have jachnun on Sundays!
Jachnun and sushi...
Latkes/Sufganiyot in Great Neck?
Latkes and sufganiyot looked good. I put an order in for today, hosting party tonight. Will follow up with you tomorrow.
Latkes/Sufganiyot in Great Neck?
I've seen numerous versions of "and sushi"; I've yet to see melawach on the same menu as sushi, although I am exceited that there's melwach so close to my house. I'm still waiting for chulent and sushi...
Latkes/Sufganiyot in Great Neck?
Thanks-I wasn't aware of this place--I'll check it out tonight on the way home. I found their website. They have sushi and melawach on the same menu. Of course they do.
Latkes/Sufganiyot in Great Neck?
Any recommendations for either/both item(s)?
Thank you.
Need to fine-tune my cholent for 12/16 (Meat question)
I make a 'winter' chulent with beer, typically of the winter ale variety, i.e. Anchor Christmas Ale (the irony). The chulent consists of flanken, sweet potato, small red potato, butternut squash, barley, onions/shallots/garlic, honey and a variety of spices, with kishka, of course. I like the combination of the winter beer with said veggies, but I like to cook with beer in general and I'm aware it's not everyone's thing.
Gotcholent, where can I try one (all) of your many cholents? Are your cholents sold anywhere?
Good beer near MSG?
I know there's many "good chow near msg" threads, but what about beer? I'll have an approximately one hour window before a concert tonight, so I don't want to spend too much time walking, but I'd walk an extra 5 minutes to get say, a Dogfish Head on tap...
Thanks.
Support for TLV in Great Neck - a great injustice has been done
Following up, I had a shwarma in a pita with the works, with extra tehina, amba and hot sauce on the side, which I applied a new layer of for each bite. Excellent. Why don't I go here more often? I virtually pass it on my way home every night. Plus the owner (Yochanan? Elchanan?) told me he's seriously flirting with the idea of getting a second spit, for lamb.
Now where can I find a good Yemenite Beef Soup?

Thanks. Humus world it is.

I'm looking to grab something to go. I haven't had shwarma in a while, so I'd be perfectly content to go to Humus World, which is on my way home. Is there no better shwarma in GN than Humus World?

Where can i pick up similar food in GN? Or just a good old shwarma?

That sucks. Sorry to hear it.

Is Anise still operating? I will be in GN tonight. I called and no one picked up.
New Wafa's coming soon.
The mystery will continue, as I finished my Queens business earlier than anticipated and never made it to Wafa's. As a consolation prize, I intended to pick up a sandwich from Mama's, and bring it back to the office to make all of my coworkers jealous, but they are closed for a few days! Thankfully I called first (to see if they were open, (as it was early) and I didn't find out the hard(er) way.

New Wafa's coming soon.
(Not so) Silly question: Is it air conditioned? I'll be in the area tomorrow, lunch time, and I can't imagine sitting down somewhere if there's no AC!

Falafel - Long Island
I was in Great Neck last week. The Bahn Mi is on the menu, and excellent. I had a falafel for lunch as well-also excellent. There are so many items on the menu I need to try. I actually ordered the merguez shaskshuka, but they were out of merguez. The place was empty both times: the first around 8:30pm on a Wednesday night; the second, 12:30pm Thursday. I was told they are busy on the weekend. I hope it works out.
Abeles & Heymans Franks
The dogs from the big packages (16 per pack) are larger as well. Knockwursts are even larger. Now I am hungry.
the best pastrami of my adult life, bar none
Would love to hear more details regarding the pastrami as well--I'll check it out soon though. How's the chopped liver? A little off topic, but does anyone know where in this area one can find 'heimesh' food--specifically, good herring? Andel's in Roslyn is just obscenely expensive. What about chopped/fried liver? P'cha/galla?
Best Thai food on Long Island?
I pick up Srip on my way home at least once a week and it's excellent 99.99% of the time.
