vidalia's in lawrenceville - anyone?

If being a BYOB isn't too important to you, I would definitely go to Elements in Princeton. My favorite restaurant in the area.

Favorite Spots in Hunterdon & Mercer Counties

I keep telling myself I'm going to try One 53. Think we'll finally get over there.

Thanks for that. Hadn't heard of 55 Main.

Favorite Spots in Hunterdon & Mercer Counties

I'm trying to find new places to eat/drink in Hunterdon and Mercer counties. My favorites around are Elements in Princeton, Blue Bottle in Hopewell, Hamilton's in Lambertville, Rosemont Cafe in Rosemont, and for sushi, I like Aijei in Princeton and Ota-ya in Lambertville. Am I missing you favorite spots? Can be bar, lunch, dinner, whatever. Thanks!

Stockton Farmers Market

Bobolink cheese is also sometimes at the market. Do you know where Happy Farm is located?

Farm-Raised Poultry-New Hope

Thanks... I'll check them out.

Farm-Raised Poultry-New Hope

Ambrose: They don't always have chickens. Though when they are there I like them. Great eggs too.

Cwdonald: Oh, great. I'm often in Doylestown. Thank you.

Farm-Raised Poultry-New Hope

I'm looking for some option in buying farm-raised poultry in the New Hope/Lambertville area. Any suggestions? I usually get my chickens at Podere di Melo in East Amwell, NJ but they only sell gourmet (20-30 dollar) whole frozen chicken (though they are FANTASTIC). Anyone know of somewhere that sells fresh?

Doylestown-Breakfast

Have to agree that La Maison is the best place to go. The owners, Martha and Carol, are wonderful to sit down and talk with if you catch them in a quiet moment. We ask them to make us whatever they feel like for breakfast, and they always deliver something fabulous. Side note: ask for the "wow" cheese, a gorgonzola/marscapone blend if you want a creamy, exciting cheese.

Butcher Recommendations in Philly/S. Jersey

I always go to a butcher in Sergeantsville NJ called Maresca & Sons Fine Meats (not really south jersey but Philly area). They're fantastic, but only open Wed-Sat. Culinary Wasteland That Is New Jersey

Blue Bottle Cafe in Hopewell is pretty good. But I guess there's not a great incentive for above-average food in Jersey since all the best chefs get work in NYC.

Things you'd never make at home (because storebought is always best)?

Ketchup. And smoked salmon.

Catfish: Totally Underappreciated?

On the farm-raised topic: My fishmonger told me that US farm-raised catfish is the way to go if you don't like the "muddy" flavor. If you are at a reputable fish market they will most likely have reputable US farm-raised catfish, that was monitored so that it didn't feed on the muck that makes the muddy taste. However, since most consumers equate farm with bad and wild with good, a lot of fish markets sell wild catfish because wild sells quicker. Best thing to do is find a good fish guy who will learn your tastes over time and be honest with you about what's best to buy.

And for a side note... I feel like bluefish gets the same rap. I love it but people usually turn up their noses. Too fishy?

Best Chocolatier in the world that mailorders

Are your friends really into chocolate? If so, my favorite is Michel Cluizel http://www.cluizel.com/ Their "bon-bons" are FANTASTIC... there's a hazelnut chocolate filled one that's just to die for. I think you can order from new york.

Good/Interesting Fondue Ideas

I'm not sure if you could find a good meltable goat cheese (you may be able to miz the goat with mozzerella or another meltable)... but if you could, maybe a goat cheese fondue with apricots, or strawberries, or grapes to dip?
