Staten Island restaurants with outdoor tables?

Try DOSI on Bay St. Good Italian fare and from what I remember, they have a nice deck for outdoor dining and project old school movies onto the brick building next to them. Just ask if they are seating outdoors yet.

Birthday weekend in Newport, RI, November 6-8 (Restaurant Week)

any help???? does anyone here frequent/live in RI????

Birthday weekend in Newport, RI, November 6-8 (Restaurant Week)

Hi fellow hounders! First time going to Newport and was wondering if anyone had any lunch/dinner recommendations. We love all kinds of food especially shellfish. Also, any thoughts on restaurant week? I was interested in going to "Spiced Pear" or "Castle Hill" for a special evening but not sure if the "restaurant week" prefixed menu is a great idea; is it good enough for dinner or should I just stick to that sort of thing for lunch. P.S. I'm a big boy, so one little scallop on my plate as part of the restaurant week dinner menu isn't going to do me justice. Thanx in advance for any advice.

Hidden Gem in Brooklyn for Friday dinn?

Hey chowhounders! Was wondering if anyone can share any hidden gems or "go to" spots for a Friday night dinner. We love trying new things but feel overwhelmed sometimes with all the choices out there. We live in the Sheepshead bay area but venture out to Sunset Park, Red Hook, PS, and Williamsburg often for our favorite spots in BK. Can anyone make any suggestions? Some specific things to try? We love Noodle Bars, Seafood, Indian, Latin fare, etc.? Thanks so much.

Big Apple BBQ- Fastpasses...are they worth it?

They go for $100 each. Are you allowed to buy more than one plate per visit?

Itchin' for Oysters...

A little pricey but would absolutely recommend Shaffer City Oyster Bar & Grill‎. Great selection of both Atlantic and Pacific variety oysters.

Looking for good Italian restaurant on Staten Island

I second DOSI...DeNoi is worth looking into also.

Ever heard of a "Hand Pulled Noodle?

Tried it out last night with my G/F. Great comfort food and very tasty broth. I had the house special soup (tripe, beef, tendon, noodles...) and she had the oxtail noodle soup. Both very good, just wish they weren't so stingy when it comes to the little beef goodies. Great find though, Thanx!

Brighton Beach best

Cafe Tatiana on the Boardwalk and Cafe Glechik on Coney Island Ave just to name a few. If you are go during the day, you may want to just stroll down Brighton Beach Ave. and grab some stuff off the street. There are many window front stands that sell piroshki with all different fillings.

Exotic Shellfish in Manhattan

Thank you for all the replies.

Exotic Shellfish in Manhattan

had it...didn't really get the flavor...texture was very interesting though

Exotic Shellfish in Manhattan

We've all had our share of oysters, clams, crabs, etc. I am looking for any suggestions anyone may have as to where I may find something a little bit more adventurous. I am particularly interested in Gooseneck Barnacles, spider crabs, snails, etc. I am aware of the fact that some of these foods maybe hard to find. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Randazzo's is awful

I find that Randazzo's is usually good for the raw bar especially in the spring/summer time (clams and oysters are consistently very fresh because theytend to sell a lot more). However, if you want good seafood go over to Clemente's crab shack (5 min. away by car). I got turned off by Randazzo's when I ordered the steamed lobster and got something that smelled like gym socks. And then I noticed from sitting at the bar that they don't change the water for the food they steam. I witnessed them throw lobster after lobster into the same dirty, unseasoned boiling water. I understand that you can't change a pot of water every time you steam a new lobster but they should be able to cycle the water a little more often.

Nouvelle Chef Andy Yang

I've eaten good food in that neighborhood. Just not from that restaurant.

Nouvelle Chef Andy Yang

For those of you who have eaten halfway decent sushi and understand the quality of fish and rice versus lousy fish dressed up with fruit and sweet sauce will understand that eating at Nouvelle is not worth it. I have given it two chances and I would have probably been better off going to Arirang.

la maison du couscous Bay Ridge- still good?

Tried it out today for the first time. For startes ,humus was delicious and creamy with morocon spices. For entrees we had two lamb shank tagines: one with artichokes, potatoes, olives, and preserved lemons; one with almonds, carmelized onions, apricots and prunes. Both delicious. The mint tea was a very nice finish to the meal. I'm not one for decour but this place was very cozy and beautifuly decorated with a very tradional feel. Small setting perfect for a good meal with a loved one or friend. P.S. If you want to try something different, ask for the rasberry belgium beer (sorry forgot the name).

One pie to rule them all

Totono's loyalist here (I live right near them)...had DiFara's the other day for the first time. Pizza was very good but I still feel Totono's reigns supreme. I am all for the crispy/chewy goodness that happens when some greats dough and quality ingredients meet a great oven however, I feel DiFara's crust was a little too well to my liking. I love the dark/charred spots thats occur on the bottom of a good pie but his was almost border line burnt. His customers, thats a different story. Seems the old man has a cult following of pizza nazis that are willing to fight you tooth and nail for a spot in line.

barnacles/Percebes

I've been fascinated by them since watching the Spain episode on Bizzare Foods. Is there anywehre in Manhattan one can find these delecious looking sea treats?

NY Icy on Church Ave/Brklyn

One of our favorite places to stop by right before getting on the Prospect Parkway on the way to Manhattan. Mango Basil highly recommended...just picked up a pint the other night on the way home and it almost didn't make it home lol.

Pre-concert Grub

Hola fellow chowhounders! Looking for a decent place to eat in or neraby the Holmdel, NJ area. My g/f and I are going to a concert at the PNC Bank Arts Center and wanted to get some dinner before that. We are into all different types of food but rather not settle for just a few slices of ordinary pizza. Any suggestions would be great appreciated!
