Best Doughnuts in CT?

I second the Orangeside Luncheonette mention. The donuts are made and fried up daily. Most of the selection are deliciously huge cake donuts and a glazed yeast kind too. I recommend the butter crunch, blueberry and old-fashioned. The owner takes pride in his donuts and you can tell in the product.

Tamago Kake Gohan ... beats the living shit out of Pasta Carbonara.

i prefer using a good quality soy sauce instead of the salt. it adds a particular flavor (soy sauce + raw egg) that i am addicted to.

and btw, i love BOTH tamago gohan and pasta carbonara. it's not either or.

Best fried chicken in Connecticut?

Highly recommend Cast Iron Soul on Congress. Delicious food all around. Lovely couple run the restaurant, focusing on New Orleans/Southern cooking. My husband loved their fried chicken.

Barbecuing Ribs for a Party

I want to make babyback ribs for a 4th of July party - but not sure how to do it for 25 people. I estimate half a rack each person so 12 full racks (at least 1 vegetarian). All of the recipes I've seen use only 2-3 racks at most since this is what you can smoke on a grill (using a Weber Genesis Gold gas grill). I'm also willing to oven bake them and then finish on the grill if necessary.

Any good tips for trying to barbecue in bulk??

Jerusalem Artichokes

I had an amazing Jerusalem Artichoke soup at my favorite bistro. It was a bisque, and had finely-chopped and well-toasted bacon lardons on top. It was perfect.
