The Strip Worth A Trip ?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Went yesterday and had a ball. The Strip is incredible. We didn't have much time (didn't realize the area pretty much closes at 4:30) but visited Parma Sausage and Penn Mac...WOW. Casey at Parma was our guide through the wonders of that which is cured and dried. Their charcuterie is totally tops. Next time you're there don't miss the "rosato" I believe it's called--their salumi with red wine--yum. Also their coppa is fantastic with a rich porky flavor.

Continued draining my bank account at Penn Mac. THeir cheese selection is vast and very well priced. We picked up a couple Cypress Grove cheeses that I've never seen before--plus supper fresh and lovely Burrata from Italy. The olive oil and pasta sections were positively inspiring. A great experience--we will definitely return. In my humble opinion, The Strip is truely one of the great foodie destinations-just be sure to get there early!

The Strip Worth A Trip ?

Isn't the Strip the Italian area of Pittsburgh--Any food shops or restaurants worthy of a look while in town for the afternoon. Any other foodie must see or eats in and around downtown and the airport area?

Ultimate Food Destinations in Da Big Apple

Some great ideas--I love cheese and did want to stop at Murray's. What is Sripraphai--I've never heard of it.

Thanks for the info. Could you recommend a few shops. Also do you think I could do the Arthur Ave. trip in 2 hours or would it be more between travel and browsing?

Thanks. I think I'll check out the Union Square market. Do you have any favorite vendors I should look for?

Ultimate Food Destinations in Da Big Apple

Traveling to NY with the hubster for a weekend of foodie retched excess. We're covered on restaurant reservations--Insieme, Prune, Momafuko, Babbo--but while the mister is tending to biz I thought I might indulge myself by touring some of the awesome foodie markets and shops in the greater NY area. I'll have limited time so I need to be selective. Here are a few places (in no particular order) I thought I would like to visit but I need other suggestions and opinions on my list--Thanks

The Green Market
Sullivan St Bakery
Russ and Daughters
Aurthur Ave. (in the Bronx) How do I get there via public transport?
Chelsea Market (is it worth the time)
Chinatown (Where can I find fresh tofu--and great dim sum)
Depalo's
