So many! One that really stands out as awakening me to new tastes and a new world of flavor possibilities as a teenager was a Spanish meal at La Fonda del Sol in the Time Life building in the late 60s. Also several meals at ryokans in Japan, and many in various Montreal restaurants. The best simple on was in childhood, grilled freshly caught trout with white bread and dill pickles!
My current drink of choice:
Water or red wine, depending upon the time of day.
I really wish I could:
Speak more languages.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
Not so many dinner parties lately. Used to rely a lot on yosenabe, a Japanese hot pot type dish cooked at table, with lots of seafood and veg.
My favorite comfort food:
Potatoes in any form. Pasta. Blueberry pie.
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
The CIA restaurants in Hyde Park, NY, and Napa, Ca.
My most tattered cookbooks:
My original Fannie Farmer, Roasting by Barbara Kafka, Dairy Hollow Soup and Bread by Crescent Dragonwagon.
