Oh Boy Burger have taken a while, but they are very much under construction now, probably only a few weeks off.

Chuck & Co (Liberty Village)

No, it's on Atlantic.

Chuck & Co (Liberty Village)

The owner is Arshad Merali (Liberty Noodle / Blowfish). They're planning to grind on the premises, which already puts in them in my good books.

I'll have an article and pictures soon on my website, looks like they're pretty close to opening.

Swish by Han?

That's my site... I've scanned the menu too.

Swish by Han?

The place is really great, I've been there twice for lunch already. Last I heard they were still waiting on their liquor license.

Best Single Order of Steak in Toronto

Jacob's & Co is probably serving the most expensive possibly best steak in the city. I went last week and they were listing a Grade 5 piece of Japanese beef (wasn't Kobe, it was from another region), at $190 for 6 oz is ain't cheap.

Buca opening soon?

It's pretty hard to find (down an ally, next to a club called Cheval). I had a look though the window the other day and it looks pretty close to completion. There's no furniture, but the kitchen / dining areas look mostly finished...

Union is open!

Their official opening is Thursday and are going to be open Tuesday - Sunday, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I chanced upon their meet & greet last night, they weren't serving much from the kitchen, but I got to try the elk sliders and fries. Both were really good, looking forward to a sit down...

New poutine spot - Poutini

Just spotted this new spot on Queen West near the Drake. Looked though the door and they were hard at work... Their website says June 5th...

Duck Fat?

There's a game vendor in STLM who sells duck fat, you just have to ask. They're on the top floor in the middle on right side (can't remember the name).

AGO's Frank aka Martha Wright found

Went the other day...

Food wise... For main I had the duck confit, which was pretty decent. For desert I had cookies, sadly they were disappointing, they didn't taste fresh and were served cold (out the oven warmth it what makes cookies for desert special in my mind)

Decor/service... It was a little chaotic, didn't look like they'd finished yet. Hard to get a feeling of restaurant when so much is still going on. It's simple and modern, at this point it's not mind blowing. The hostess was nice enough as was our waiter (even if he was noticeably nervous).

I'm going to wait a while to let the place get some rhythm before I return..

Is there anything like Pret a Manger in TO?

There's nothing like Pret in Toronto sadly... the sheer quantity of healthy 'grab and go' outlets seems to be unique to London. Which Toronto has Sandwich Box (and the many a-likes that are springing up), it's frustrating to have to wait so long to eat...

I think it would do well here and if it's made it's way to New York, it stands a better chance of coming here eventually..

Not Up to Snuff?

I was born and raised in London and I think Toronto has got loads of game.

I think it's a little tough to compare Toronto to the UK. While the south of England (not just London) has some of the finest places to eat, it also has some of the worst (There are plenty of horror stories of bad food and service). And it is as expensive as people say, even for people who live and work there. London's the kind of city you shouldn't be surprised to pay for the restroom in public places (no joke).

Nota Bene is a great restaurant and I'd be more than happy to take my out of town guests there. When I was last there I paid $160 for me and my partner, believe me 80pounds doesn't get you very far in London.

When I'm looking to impress out of town peeps I usually go to:

Ladies and Gentlemen.....The new Champ Pizzeria Libretto

By total chance I was walking past on opening night, even though I'd just had dinner I couldn't resist popping in to try the pizza. From the moment you walk in you have a great feeling, the staff are super friendly and the place was bustling mere hours after opening.

I just had a margarita which was great, the key for me was the super rich tomato sauce. This is the first true contender for Terroni's I've had in Toronto.

Visiting Montreal/Quebec

I'm visiting Montreal for 3 days and Quebec for 1. I know nothing about any of the places to go and would really appreciate some advice!

I'm looking for a list of the best high end places in town, especially sushi and steak, but I'm open to anything.

Food that I can't get in other parts of Canada, high end or divey.

And last but not least, good poutine.

Thanks in advance!

Rib sauce in downtown?

Anyone know a decent place with a selection of independent rib sauces? A friend was asking me where to get Gator BBQ sauce and it made me think I have no idea where to go.

Stampede Bison Grill

Stopped by last week to try a bison burger. I've really been feeling the need for a great burger fix lately and was crossing my fingers here. I asked for medium, they said the meat was ground off site so I ended up going with medium. The burger came well done and was understandably dry. Disappointing as the place seems so interesting.

Mildred Pierce?

The new place is called Mildred's Temple Kitchen, it's at the base round the side of a new building on the west side of the shopping area (same block the Starbucks is in). I've passed by a few times recently, they have posters in the window but I've yet to see any activity.

Swan, what happened?

I've been a there a few times and always enjoyed it for both lunch and dinner. In my mind I always classify it more the casual lunch spot though. I don't think it's up to the standards of Delux, but what it does, it does great.

Los Angeles Hounds Seeking Tips

They have a fried rice square with spicy tuna that they serve a Katana and a couple of other places round LA, but I've never seen anything exactly like Sushi pizza. Possibly unique to Toronto/Canada?

Los Angeles Hounds Seeking Tips

- You might want to try the 'Terroni's' here and see how it compares to LA.
- Really good sushi is much harder to find here than LA, 'Japango' and 'Kaji' are general favorites.
- 'Fresh' is a very popular vegan/vegetarian spot, though I'm not a fan.
- I second St.Lawrence Market, nothing quiet like it in LA.
- There are some really great Indian spots here. 'Dhaba' is one of my favs and 'Amaya' is very popular.

Don't forget, it's Ribfest this weekend!!

Just got back....

Very crowded (no surprise being a holiday). A group of 4 of us shared a full rack at Camp31, Bad Wolf and Gator.

Gator was the all round fav of the day, although a little tough, it was still juicy and sauce was perfect. Bad wolf's corn bread was great. Camp31 lacked, even though it was fall off the bone, it somehow managed to taste dry and fatty, big disappointment. You quickly learn to ask for extra sauce on the side.

toshi sushi review

Passed by Toshi today for what was first and last time! I had spicy tuna hand roll, which was covered in this god awful tomato spicy sauce as well as the standard mayo/red pepper sauce. I have no idea what the point of that was, you could barley tell what you were eating with all that gunk.

Recs for King West and Spadina area

Le Select gets busy, but there are cozy corners to be found. Crush has recently had a make over which makes a little more intermit, past experience with the food hasn't been great though. Thuet could work.

Chipotle in Toronto

Strange. I had a Shawarma there soon after they opened. The vegie's were fresh, the meat was cut straight from the spit (places sometimes precut) and they grilled it after. Places like that are so often ruined by staff who don't know or care.

Chipotle in Toronto

The Chipotle is actually on the outside of the building on Yonge Street, not on the 3rd floor. They're also applying for a liquor license.

I second the Lebanese place on the 3rd floor, can't remember the name.

Chipotle in Toronto

Don't know if this is old new yet, but Chipotle is opening up at Dundas Square. Never had it in the states, but everyone seems to get really excited about it.
