At Le Bouchon in Portland, OR. The food was excellent (escargot in a marrow and wine reduction!), made all the better because 7 of us walked in without a reservation on a Monday night and were able to get a table. What a fun night with great friends -- what a great meal is all about.

Coq au vin. Simple, but seriously impressive, especially to non-cooks. Besides, I just love eating it, but never go to the trouble when it's just the two of us at home.

Bread pudding. I used to ask my mom to make it instead of birthday cake.

Shopsin's, The Grocery, Cafe Habana, Tempo Presto, Bar Tabac (although it's all about the atmosphere)
