In Search of a Great Burger

I love the burger at Mesa Grill, but it is only available at lunch.

Italian Restaurant Recomendations for Tonight (Sunday)

We are looking for a good Italian restaurant in the Menlo Park/Palo Alto area, but are willing to go to surrounding area up to 20-30 minutes away. We don't feel like driving into the city, though. Suggestions?

Spago: Is it good?

I have eaten at Spago multiple times over the years, and have always found it to be excellent. In fact, I have found all of the Puck restaurants to be excellent except for a French one in Crystals that was gone by the next time I was in Vegas.

Immersion Blenders--Recommendations?

I am about to purchase my first immersion blender. I love kitchen gadgets, and prefer to go ahead and get a better appliance that will do the best job and last rather than trying a less expensive one to see if I like it and then upgrade later.

In looking through Chowhound it seems that the most recent discussion of immersion blenders is almost a year old. I was hoping to get some more current suggestions. I am leaning towards the Breville BSB510XL.

Any comments on that model, or recommended alternatives?

Mid range priced Sushi on Strip?

We have eaten at Sushi Roku at the Forum Shops at Caesars several times and enjoyed it every time.

Breakfast - NOT Bouchon

I second the Verandah for hueveos rancheros. GREAT food, quiet calm, peaceful atmosphere.

Mesa Grill - Paying for the name? v Bar Charlie

I am with the camp that thinks Mesa Grill is great. I like to eat there every time I am there, and the last time I ate there twice. I have never had anything that wasn't good--we often eat at the bar and the cocktails are fabulous.

However, I feel different than the majority about Bouchon. I have had both breakfast and dinner there and found them both underwhelming.

Trying to Remember the Name of a Restaurant--Northern Suburb

Nope--that's not it. It was definitely a dinner place.

Trying to Remember the Name of a Restaurant--Northern Suburb

I am racking my brain to remember the name of a restaurant I ate at about 6 or 7 years ago. It was in one of the northern suburbs---and I think it was on Waukegan Rd, maybe in Northbrook or nearby.

It seems like the owner was into Harleys. I thought the name of the place was "That Place" or something like that.

I remember it being good and reasonable.

I know this is all kinda vague, but wondering if it strikes a bell with anyone.

Does Anyone Make A Thin (not Belgian) Waffle Maker?

I am looking for a waffle iron that does not make Belgian waffles, but makes the thin kind like you used to make before Belgian wafflers came around. Does anyone know if you can find these anymore?

Seeking Breakfast & Lunch Spots in or Near MGM in Vegas

One of my favorite breakfasts is at the Verandah at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay. You can cross the street to Excaliber and take the free monorail from there to Mandalay Bay.

I highly recommend Huevos Rancheros.

On the Strip/Asian

I ate at Jasmine several years ago and was not particularly impressed. We have eaten several times at the Chinese restaurant at Ballys (the name has changed, so I'm not sure what it is) and have always been pleased. Generally when we eat there, we are the only Caucasians in the restaurant, and I always think that is a good sign.

Comments on Mix at The Hotel in Las Vegas

I will never make a comment about people not searching for comments prior to posting again. I just tried to search for comments on Mix and was highly unsuccessful in finding any comments before I gave up.

Anyway, someone has recommended Mix to me, and the few comments I did see sounded sort of lackluster. Anyone have a different opinion?

Nashville, Demos?

There are many great restaurants in Nashville and Demos is definitely not one of them. Even my teenagers don't like it.

You also may want to add to your list Cabana, which is also in Hillsboro Village,

Jackson's (which my husband and I don't care for, but the college crowd seems to love it) and

South Street (near Bound'ry)

I'd recommend Cabana. It is described as creative Southern Comfort Cuisine. It's a great atmosphere, reasonabley priced and my college and near college aged kids really like the food. If you go, be sure to try the lobster brie mac and cheese.

Help A Groom Out: Las Vegas Steak

I would second Prime. The food is excellent, as is the service and the atmosphere and view are both exquisite.

My Upcoming Las Vegas Vacation

I agree with you on the lamb chops, and I've also had the veal chop which was also delicious. And my hubby and I split the burger at lunch.

Then there are the breadstick like things at the bar at night that are wonderful.

And the tuna nachos. Yum!

I find the filet at Mesa Grill one of the best I've had. I'm not even a big steak eater, but i always order the filet there.

nashville, local style eating?

It looks like everyone is saying the same thing, but I would also go for Hog Heaven over the other choices for barbeque.

Nashville - NYC hound coming for FOOD

My favorite barbeque is Hog Heaven, right by Centennial Park. The pulled checken and pulled prok are both delicious, and the white sauce is killer (if you like spicy).

For burgers the debate is generally between Brown's Diner and Rotiers.

Vegas Specifics

Everything I've had at Mesa has been good, but one thing to be sure to try is the Raw Tuna Nachos appetizer.
