Santa Barbara Wine tasting
Another option is to go with one of the jeep tour companies in the area . . . You'll find a few mentioned on this board, but a couple of my favorites are DeeTours and Gold Coast Limousine. A major advantage of this is not being in a position to have to drink and drive. And both of these companies can arrange for lunches to be provided as well.
If you decide to go it on your end, Los Olivos is a great choice - there are over 30 different tasting rooms within walking distance of each other, along with a couple of markets that offer plenty of food, a great sandwhich shop called Panini, and a couple of sit down restaurants.

30th Birthday Restaurant in Santa Barbara
Bouchon is top notch, and a great 'special evening' restaurant. No views to talk of - just great food and a great atmsophere . . .
Others to consider would be SeaGrass - Bouchon's seafood only sister restaurant - Opal, and Jane, a newer restaurant with great food and a great atmosphere . . .
Cheers!
Santa Barbara: Late night Bistro Pubs
We now have one in the Santa Ynez Valley, believe it or not! Root 246 has an outdoor patio that stays open until 2am on the weekends!
Cheers!
Dinner in Carmel Area - One Night Only - La Bicyclette? Luca? Passionfish? Something else?
If you want more of a memorable WINE evening, you've GOT to go to Passionfish. Their wine list is spectacular - and their prices are basically retail, not the usual 2-3 X retail. I've heard the food is good but not great . . .
Just an opinion here . . .
