Happy Hours and Specials in and around Prescott

Hi all, Of course there are the big chains; but what about the other restaurants in the area? I do know on Mondays the Prescott Resort's Eagles Nest Lounge offers a $5.00 burger and fries from 4:30-9:00 p.m. as well as $1.00 drafts from 6:30-8:00 p.m. And in Chino Valley on Tuesdays the Bonn-Fire Restaurant (bar area only) has $1.00 tacos all day; as well as discounted apps from 3-6 p.m. I have not been to either place yet so cannot give any feedback yet. Are there any other places worth checking out? Thanks

Sauerbraten help - please! Party this Saturday

Thank you all for your recipes and advice.
Caroline1 - No, I didn't realize what an undertaking this was going to be. I think your suggestion about a trip to Germany is great. Maybe my friend will read your post. Thanks again.

Sauerbraten help - please! Party this Saturday

A friend is having an Octoberfest party and asked if I knew how to make Sauerbraten. Long story short - I am now cooking 30 pounds of it!!!!! I know I have to cook it in my oven but my question is @ what temp and how long?

I have 5 six pound bottom rounds. I been searching for info but only get Dutch Oven and Slow Cooker recipes. The only help I found was on this Board relating to Pot Roast. That recipe called for 3 1/2 hours of cooking time for a 3 lb roast @ 300 degrees. So.......... my 6 pound roasts will take about 7 hours @ 300 degrees, right?

Any help or perhaps a better way of cooking this would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Hour in Bergen County

Thank you to those who responded to my post. Fourunder - I am sorry I was not specific in my OP. We are looking for reduced price food and drink but , if someone brought us free Filet Mignon we would not it turn away. Heineken, on the other hand, is another story.

Happy Hour in Bergen County

Hi Chowhounders,
Do any of you know of some good/great happy hours in Bergen County? My father, 83, lives in Paramus and would really like to get out and try some when I visit him in October. Thanks for your help.

Best Food in Bergen Co, NJ

Going to see my father in a few weeks. Haven't been back to NJ in years. I found this post while doing some research for places to take him. It's 3 years old and am hoping some Chowhounds would update or add to the old posters replies. Thanks

Help! Have run out of ideas...need recipe ideas for tonight's dinner

When I have ground beef I make stuffed peppers. Brown the meat. Mix in some cooked rice, a little ketchup to moisten, some seasonings, some cheese if you want (I use parmesean or cheddar). Fill steamed pepper halves and top with a little more chez or a breadcrumb/butter topping. Then (since everything is already cooked) I just top brown under broiler. Serve with a salad and slice of bread (I use rye).

Need AZ produced food gifts ideas

Thanks to all for your suggestions, I appreciate you taking the time. All the websites look promising.

Winedubar - what would you use the blood orange olive oil for? A salad dressing?

Need AZ produced food gifts ideas

I am looking for products that are grown/produced in Arizona which can be mailordered.

On numerous occasions I have sent salsas, marinades and chipotle flakes from Tuxedo Chilis (www.tuxedochilis.com). Which people loved, but I need other ideas.

I have heard of olive oil being grown and produced in Queen Creek. Has anyone tried it or have knowledge of it? I know they have a website www.queencreekolivemill.com but I would like impartial reviews if possible.

What else is out there that is really good and would make a great gift?

Thanks for your ideas.

Lime Pound Cake

It looks great. I just wish the baking recipes also had high altitude directions with them.

Lunch suggestions in Mesa @ McDowell & Higley

Thanks for the suggestion and the website. The menu looks quite extensive, I am sure there will be something on there that she will want to try. Do you know if there are any places to the west of Higley & McDowell that are worth going to? She'll be coming from the airport.

Lunch suggestions in Mesa @ McDowell & Higley

A female friend of mine will be in the area around 11:00 and needs suggestions for lunch. If the place serves wine or marquerita's with good food that is even better.
she had no price range so anything that fits is appreciated. Thanks.

first time in Manhattan for 10th wedding anniversary

My daughter and son in law are going to be staying at the W Hotel at Lexington and 50th for their 10th wedding anniversary in February. They will be there for 5 days. They would love a special and wonderful NY experience. They enjoy all types of food and are adventurous diners. Since it is their anniversary I would think suggestions at all price points would be welcome. If there are any romantic places with great food/drink all the better. Thanks for your help.

Help - Thanksgiving in Austin

Thanks for your suggestions.

Since we were in the car for 4 days to get here we are leaning towards staying as close to Austin as possible. We will look into Hoovers, the Four Seasons and check out the newspaper blog as well.

Again thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.

Dinner recs in Ahwatukee

I've done a search for places in Ahwahtukee but have come up short. I know through my browsing of the board there are quite a few good places to eat in that area. But my need to jot them down didn't exist until now. Unfortunately since the word Ahwatukee is not mentioned in the majorities of reviews they are not pulled up.

So far I have Star of India, Cafe Boa and Rice Box. I know about Fogo e. What other places are there? I need to know before this Saturday AM.

As a suggestion - when possible, please note the area of Phoenix the place is in as well as the address.

Thanks in advance for your help.
