Segafredo Zanetti?

Thank you! This is a great location I pass with some frequency, will pop in!

Segafredo Zanetti?

Hi there - yes, I am looking for coffee but was hoping to find a retailer I could walk into to buy some in person...ideas?

Segafredo Zanetti?

Hi there - anyone have a sense where I might be able to buy Segafredo Zanetti products in downtown Toronto? Guidance appreciated.

Downtown-East Brunch Spot?

I am off to see a matinee next Sunday at the Alumnae Theatre (Berkeley & Adelaide) & want to take my aunt for brunch in the area beforehand. Thought Toba initially....boo its closed!

Any suggestions for a delicious spot in the Queen/King East neighbourhood? Is Toba's replacement Pico worthy of a visit?

Pub for First Date?

I do know my way around a good # of the city's pubs, must admit. I know it's not a traditional pub, but it's in a similar vibe to Volo (which I would argue straddles the line of pub and restaurant) though more laid back.

As for menu stand outs, the falafel is always a top choice, the pulled pork sandwich is lovely and the pizzas are my favourite, including a different one every day as part of a (usually) stellar lineup of specials. Hope that you and you gf's like it!

Pub for First Date?

Stop the presses! I have a suggestion : Local 4. A few doors E of Bar Volo, this is in a little house, totally lacking in pretention but cozy and nice. Above par food, microbrews on tap and attentive, friendly staff, this would be my vote!

ISO Wakers Prawn Cocktail crisps

You can often luck into some of these at the candy store located on the E side of Yonge, one door N of the Panasonic Theatre (just N of Isabella).

Growers Cider in Ontario?

I know that you can get it at the Wine Rack stores. My local at Church and Wellsley always has a few in their fridge.

Wine Classes???

Hi there -

I have not been yet (will in January) but a friend and I will be attending the course offered by www.globalwinetour.com - it's held by one of the organizers of Sante so that speaks to knowing his way around a bottle or two.

Pub w/ Private Room?

Alright! I will come clean. Twas the Duke of York.

You can imagine my surprise as we had held group events there for years and they graciously handled us. I am all for recognizing that we are only human and everyone is entitled to an off night but the staff in our area (more than one) were very rude, especially considering they were looking at taking in a good chunk of change from our group. We weren't behaving in a demanding or disruptive way or anything, we actually were being very "low touch" and just having a lovely visit.

Shocking as I have had nothing but good things to say otherwise, and I have been many times since and all is well...but in getting the group together for our annual 'do, we have decided it's a good year for a change.

Pub w/ Private Room?

Hi everyone - thanks for all of your suggestions, amazing in less than 24hrs!

I don't want to pinpoint which one it is, but one of the suggestions is actually where we used to go. We took over a portion of a room and we truly do a "drop in" and folks put $ in the pot as they come and go. Towards the end of the afternoon, the staff argued that they wanted to take seats away - even though our bill was in the hundreds of dollars they wanted more space (even though the venue wasn't busy at the time). Not marvy.

Sadly the Keogh idea is out because of the drop in nature of our crowd and their coming and going...but please keep the ideas coming! Some great suggestions so far, thankya!

Off of this site, I have had the Artful Dodger (private rooms upstairs?), Victory Cafe and the Dominion on Queen E suggested, any thoughts on those?

Pub w/ Private Room?

Hi there -

Every year my motley crew and I (sans Tommy Lee...haha) have a holiday open house, where we take over an area of a pub and folks drop in over the course of a Saturday or Sunday afternoon (as a chance to get together and not have any one of us stuck cleaning and cooking). At max capacity I'd saythere would be 25 of us in the room at the same time.

The place we have done it at over the past few years were really inhospitable last time so we have decided to look elsewhere, this is where you come in. We'd ideally like to keep the location as centralized as possible, and ideally an accessible location. Ideas???

Ice wine tea?

Hi there - I also spotted this at the Harvest Wagon (i think that's what it's called?!) on the E side of Yonge Street S of Summerhill.

Mother's Day LUNCHEON?

Hi there - I know that Mum's Day celebrations are most frequently a brunch-like affair, but I was hoping to take my family out for a nice lunch, with 2 parameters:

1) Looking for something geographically close to Queen and Bathurst, as we are off to see a matinee mid-afternoon (Alchemy Theatre's doing a great take on the Tempest right now!)

2) Foodwise, pretty open but no sushi or no Italian - my dad's squeamish about the former and would eat Italian every day of the week if he had his way, but it's Mothers Day so no go.

Suggestions?

Haggis in downtown resto on Robbie Burns?

Shocking perhaps, but I know that Spirits Bar & Grill are having it this evening.
(on Church just S of Bloor, next to Princess Grace Hospital on the W side of the street)

High Park/BWV Dinner?

We ended up going to Simply Thai, and I couldn't thank you enough for the recommendation. It was a fantastic introduction to Thai food for my grandma and my mum doesn't get to eat it often and was head over heels with the place. We shared the cold shrimp rolls, shrimp chips with amazing homemade peanut sauce, pad thai and mixed vegetable that was amazing - still crunchy and in a very light brothy sauce.

Thanks again! HIGHLY recommend this place!

High Park/BWV Dinner?

Hi there - looking for an interesting place to eat tomorrow night in High Park or Bloor West Village. I don't know these areas well so any suggestions encouraged. Particularly interested in Thai or Japanese places...thanks in advance for any suggestions!

SATURDAY Brunch

Hi everyone - I am on a hunt for a place that has a fancy-ish brunch available on Saturday. (Or lunch...neither seems simple to stumble across!)

Mildred Pierce is the only thing stumbling to mind, any suggestions along that line?

West End Grad Luncheon

Hi there -

I know September makes most think of starting a school term anew but I've recently completed a certificate from Humber and the convocation is coming up.(hurray!) My mum and gran are coming into town for the ceremony and would like to take me out for a nice Saturday lunch beforehand.

Anything but Indian or sushi (gran's not particularly adventurous), and I'm thinking anywhere between yonge st and the etobicoke campus of Humber would work locationwise. Suggestions?

Korean restaurant - help me name this place please

This is the one that you're referring to, Elastic Waistband.

I used to work for the Korean consulate and one of my fav experiences was bringing our brand-new Consul General to Korean Village for lunch and he was genuinely awestruck to meet one of his favourite childhood screen legends.
