India and Lebanese in London

We'll be staying at the Millennium Bailey's and I was wondering if any one had any recommendations for the above - I'm especially interested in an Indian place with some serious vindaloo. I've also heard that there is some very good Lebanese food in London.

Thanks!

Good food in SF

We make it out to SF every year to visit family in Sacramento. We always go to Tadich and we like the Slanted Door.

Good food in SF

We're visiting for the holidays - two adults and one foodie 8-year-old - and wondering if there are any new must go to places. We're staying in Union Square, but are happy to travel to other neighborhoods. I know there are some good places in the Mission. We're OK on splurge restaurants, but also are interested in local hangouts.

Chinese food

We'll be visiting from NY. What are the must go-to Chinese restaurants and dim sum places. Also, looking for a recommendation for a Japanese steak house.

PS - we won't have a car, but are very comfortable with public transportation. (We're from NY.)

Visiting Montreal

We're staying at the Fairmont Hotel (not sure of the exact location) and we won't have a car. We love French food, Asian. . . up for anything really. We'll probably want to have at least one really blowout meal.

Visiting Montreal

My husband, 6-year-old daughter, and I will be visiting Montreal for the first time and are wondering where we need to eat. The 6-year-old is a good eater and patient even with long meals (usually lunches) - as long as there is promise of a playground afterwards. Any suggestions - both high-end and low-end - would be appreciated.

BYOB in Park Slope?

There's a newish Moroccan place on the corner of Lincoln and Fifth Avenue. They don't have their liquor license yet, and I think the food and atmosphere is pretty great. We've been there for brunch and dinner.

Babouche in Park Slope?

My husband had the lamb and prune tagine and it was great. And - if you have kids - the chicken skewers, while not cheap, are a crowd pleaser. (Actually the chicken skewers comes with a huge salad, which my 4-year-old wouldn't touch. Next time I'll get her the skewers and have the salad as my appetiser. Then the price will be right!)

Babouche in Park Slope?

It's on 5th Avenue and Lincoln. We ate there last night and it was really wonderful. The portions were so huge that I had half of my cous-cous royale (chicken, lamb, merquez sausage) for lunch today. They don't have their liquor license yet, so rush on over while you still can bring your own booze. It's really lovely in the restaurant and the staff couldn't be nicer.

Best Rotisserie Chicken in Park Slope and Surrounding...

I actually think the chicken from the Keyfood on Flatbush near 7th Avenue is pretty darn good - with crispy skin!

Hard boiled eggs

I know this is insane, but I can't boil an egg to save my life. The shell always sticks. (It actually seems like the membrane-like thing beneath the skin is sticking.) I've looked at cookbooks; tried white eggs vs. brown; tried simmering vs. covering in boiling water. To no avail.

Help!

Ice cream in Park Slope

Yes, yes, yes! The gelato at Tempo Presto is fabulous. I had a watermelon one the other day and it was out of this world. I'm guessing they make them there.

Frisee - where the heck do you get it in Park Slope?

I was sure that Union Market would carry it, but they don't!

Frisee - where the heck do you get it in Park Slope?

It seems like frisee wouldn't be so hard to come by. Any suggestions? I'm not a memeber of the coop. Also, in general, the state of greens really seems to be on the decline in the neighborhood. Everything seems so soggy.

Thanks,

Jen

Drink your brunch in Prospect Heights, Park Slope

Scottadito (spelling?) on Union between 7th and 6th has unlimited mamosas with brunch (maybe bloody mary's, too). I think the brunch is like 12 bucks and I think the food is pretty tasty - espcially the pasta with cow cheeks!
