Apple Fritters in the city?

The fall weather has me craving apple fritters. Does anyone know where to get them in Manhattan?

Thanks.

Best Tacos in Park Slope

Does anyone know of a great place to get authentic tacos in the slope? I usually head to Sunset Park to get my fix, but I'm wondering if anyone knows anywhere closer to my apartment for when I don't feel like making the trek.

Sushi in South Slope

I love Kiku on the 7th ave and 15th. The prices are great for pretty good quality sushi. I live about 5 streets away and their delivery is pretty speedy.

Fried Food Feast

Heartland Brewery has pretty decent fried pickles. I know this is the Manhattan board, so apologies in advance...my favorite fried pickles in the city are from Park Slope Ale House.

Italian around Union Square?

Check out Luzzo in the East Village. It's on 1st Ave and 11th

Such good classic thin crust coal-fired pizza!

Help me on a Park Slope food tour

If you're beer fans. I'd highly reccomend stopping in Beer Table for a post-brunch drink.

With 4 beers on tap and about 30 very well selected bottles. I've never had an experience quite like it. The best way to describe is the beer equivalent of a wine bar.

Has anyone tried Ten Sushi, new to Park Slope

Sorry, I forgot to add that detail. It's on 7th ave and 15th street.

I've been watching them set up on for the past month or so. They opened up shop earlier this week. I haven't had a chance to stop in yet, but it looks modern (black, white and red color scheme and furniture with clean lines) and inviting (nice details like flowers on the tables).

Has anyone tried the food?

Best burger below 14th street?

Stand has one of the best burgers I've ever had. With a buttery brioche bun and homemade onion savory marmalade their house burger is incredible. Wash it down with a toasted marshmallow milkshake (orgasmic) and accompany it with crispy shoestring fries....it's pretty much one of my favorite meals in nyc.

best breakfast in brooklyn?

For a good bagel and lox in South Slope, I head to Bagel Factory on 5th Ave and 17th St. The bagels are made in-house daily and are perfectly chewy on the inside and have a golden crust on the exterior. The sandwich comes with a generous smear of cream cheese, a generous portion of lox, slices of tomatoes, sweet red onions and a sprinkling of capers. It's quite simple, but Bagel Factory does it "right." That's my idea of the perfect breakfast.

Environmentally Friendly Picnic Supplies

If anyone is looking for a cute, durable, modern picnic basket I came across the carrybag by Reliable when I was shopping at Sur la Table (linked below). The nylon bags are collapsible, which is great for city dwellers like me that don't have a wealth of space. I love the baroque-style brown/ivory bag, but they're available in several patterns and colors.

Happy picnicking!

Did anyone find out the status of Yummy? I really hope they didn't close! They were one of my faves.

Where to take/impress in Brooklyn within reason

I love Little D Eatery in South Slope for nice dates. (When my boyfriend took me there, I was impressed)
It has a really chill, cozy vibe and impressive yet unpretentious food. The menu is described as Mezze inspired American food.
I sampled several small plates and my favorite was the Sautéed Baby Octopus tossed with navy beans, Turkish olives and Anaheim peppers. My boyfriend had the Duck Leg Confit with sautéed escarole and bacon, salt cured foie gras and it was every bit as heavenly as it sounds.

Good Lunch Options Near 7th Ave and 29th st.

I work fight in this area, here are some of my lunch faves:

Gingerhouse on 7th and 29th has reliable Chinese food and a great lunch special ($5.95 for an entree and rice).
Guy and Gillard 7th and 29th is good when you're craving a high quality salad.
Kofoo on 8th and 26th is quick, affordable and gives you enough Bim Bop to cover lunch for 2 days.
Waldy's on 6th and 27th has the most incredible wood-fired thin crust pizza. Very authentic (for what it's worth, it's the only pizza in this area that my Italian co-worker ever orders).

Also, do not fall in to the trap of BRGR (7th and 26th)! A fast food-style burger and fries shouldn't cost $15! It'd be okay if it was the most amazing burger I've ever had in my life, but it was a small burger that was mediocre at best.

Happy lunching :)

Girl's Brunch in Manhattan

Try out Calle Ocho on Columbus between 81st & 82nd St.
They accept reservations and have an all-you-can-drink buffet of about 8 different types of sangria (complimentary with brunch).
