Paris- Restaurant recommendations in Saint Germain des Pres

I will be traveling to Paris from NYC with my sister in three weeks, we consider ourselves to be "foodies" and are looking forward to dining out in Paris more than anything, however, we don't want to go broke! We will be staying in an apartment in the Saint Germain des Pres area and would appreciate any good restaurant recommendations for dinner( we don't mind traveling) I prefer to dine at restaurants offering a prefixe(3-4 course menu) and could spend between 25 to 35 Euros a person). Thanks in advance for your help:)

Restaurant near St.George theatre in Staten Island

Once again, thanks to all of you for your feedback- I tried to make a reservation at Enoteca Maria and the restaurant was fully booked. Plan B came into place and my beau and I headed over to Salvatores of Soho-We were greeted by owners, Ralph and Sal and these guys could not of been more gracious. The food was heavenly. I had the eggplant rollatini with pasta and beau had the chicken marsala. Ralph came over with thin garlic bread that was to die for Servings were huge-we took home leftovers. The almond cake was delicious- Sal and Ralph were so friendly and went out of their way to give us a tour of the restaurant and showed us all of the antiques that Ralph has collected throughout the years . Sal makes his own mozzerella and uses organic spices and herbs as well as San Marzano tomatoes . This place is a hidden gem- I highly recommend this restaurant. I only wish it were closer. Make sure to get there b'fore 7PM or there will be a wait:) Sal and Ralph made me and beau feel like we were old friends...... enough said:)

12 Grapes, Peekskill, NY

I've dined at 12 grapes twice . The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and I enjoyed the music, however, the food was ok. There are plenty of other restaurants I would rather go. to. If one is in the area, I would suggest you give it a try, but do not highly recommend it

Barnalce's BBQ and Fish Shack in Mamaroneck

Had dinner at Barnacles BBQ last night with 32 people from my dinner group and we were all very happy with the service, food and staff. Menu is very affordable and Owners, Michael and Coleman extended themselves and went out of their way for our group. The BBQ was excellent ! We tried the ribs, pulled pork, chicken, sausage, baked beans, mac and cheese, jalapeno popovers, fried zuchini. The food kept coming non-stop! They also gave us complimentary dessert and coffee. Again, I can't say enough- There is a lively bar with a terrific bartender. They are building a deck in the back of the restaurant that overlooks the water and a lounge on the second floor for private parties. Merriam, the decorator did a great job with the place and happend to be there. It was so nice of her to show me the lounge. This is a great place and I highly recommended it.

Has anyone been to Brickyard Bistro in New Rochelle?

I've had brunch and dinner at Brickyard Bistro several times .The food is delicious and the owners Maja and her husband couldn't be nicer. My favorite dishes include pumpkin ravioli, crab cakes, and chicken corden bleu- For breakfast I enjoy the stuffed french toast and the lemon ricotta pancakes- They still don't have their liquor license so it's BYOW-

Dinner at the Oarhouse in Portsmouth, NH

The waitstaff needs serious training. We shared an appetizer and had to ask the waitress to give us an extra plate. That happens and I can understand, but , When the waitress was bringing our main courses', she placed her tray with our food at a table beside us and instead of serving us our main courses, she went to another table to answer a question and then came back after a few minutes and served us. How do explain that? We ordered the crabcrakes, which were bland and the mesculan salad was gritty. The New York sirloin was overcooked-we asked for it to be cooked medium and it was well done.We also ordered the lobster portofino (seafood in a brandy sherry cream sauce served in a puff pastry. I enjoyed this dish. Decided not to order dessert. Nice decor, very rustic.Restaurant has a waterfront deck. All and all my husband and I were very disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant. Try the Green Monkey in Portsmouth or Lattitudes in New Castle

SCOTLAND - Need advice for many cities!

I just got back from visiting friends who live in Edinburgh and Glasgow. If you are in Edinburgh, I highly recommend you jump on the 43 bus on Princess St and take a 30 minute bus ride to the Boat House Restaurant.www.theboathouse-sq.co.uk. located at 22 high Street, in South Queensferry. It is definetely off the beaten path, it is in a quaint, historic town with a beautiful view of the water. The freshest fish you will ever eat in Scotland. Believe me, you wont regret. Must call for reservations.
In Glasgow, I decided to do Indian, don't have the info on hand but if anyone is interested in delicious South Indian cuisine let me know. Cheers

whole foods, london

On vacation in London for a few daysand looking for a place to grab a quick bite for lunch and stumbled upon Whole Foods. I absolutely loved it! The store has 3 floors of fresh fruit, meat, fish and prepared food. The third floor even has a D.J. mixing up the tunes.Found the prices to be very reasonable for London. Especially loved the crepe bar!! Must check it out!

Manny's Grill in Queens

Dined at Manny's Grill , Cuban/Spanish restaurant in Glen Oaks, Queens this weekend and the food was horrible. We ordered the baked porkchops with yellow rice and red beans. The porkchops, although tender, were tasteless and the yellow rice tasted like goya yellow rice from the box. This place has gone down hill.

DUBLIN IN SEPTEMBER

I'm back and must say that I had dinner at Roly's Bistro and loved it. Make sure to make reservations in advance.
I also recommend a lovely restaurant , that wasn't mentioned on Chowhound, The Canal Bank Cafe (www.canalbankcafe) located at 146 Upper Leeson Street, Dublin 4. This is an elegant, yet casual restaurant with delicious food and great service. It is a 10-15 minute walk from The Stephens Green Park . Make reservations and enjoy!

Mazzi Restaurant in Huntington Station

I think you must have confused Mazzi to another restaurant. There were no pizzas on the menu. I had the shrimp scampi with potatoes. (5 medium shrimps and two new potatoes and a serving of spinach) It was a very small portion and the scamp sauce was bland. My friends ordered the shrimp and crab fettucine. It was ok. The serving was reasonable and the skirt steak with mash potatoes. The steak weighed about six ounces and the mash potatoes were ok. For dessert we had the toffee cheesecake (bland), the old fashioned chocolate cake(very dry) and the apple pie (Very good!) The hostess and waitress were friendly, I however, did not like the food.
Try Norman James Bistro in Merrick, I had dinner there last night. It's a fabulous restaurant! Delicious food and great atmosphere

Mazzi Restaurant in Huntington Station

Had dinner at Mazzi Restaurant on E. Jericho Tpke in Huntington Station a few days ago with friends. The service was good, however, the quality of food was poor. We were disappointed, especially since it was my friend's birthday. We wanted to try a new restaurant, but had we known we would of gone elsewhere. I would not recommend this restaurant.

What Makes a Good Flourless Chocolate Cake?

Would you happen to have the recipe for the Gotham Bar and Grill flourless chocolate cake. I know that it is in one of Alfred Portale's cookbooks, but I haven't had a chance to purchase the book. I adore his cake and so do my teenagers
