Basic Steamed Artichokes

Awesome, here is my method:

Same method as above, but add 2 cloves of smashed garlic, 1-2 bay leaves, and a slice of lemon squeezed to the water you have in the pot. Simmer for 40min stem UP and comes out perfect every time!

How to Eat an Artichoke

This is a good starting point, but 20min would never be enough time for me. I've always steamed mine for 40min and they come out perfectly.

Another good water setup is adding a clove of garlic, 1 bay leaf, and a slice of lemon to the water. It gives the artichoke, the heart and your kitchen a lovely flavor and smell.

For a dip I usually use mayo, lemon juice and sriracha and mix it together.

Pad Thai shootout.

Agreed. Probably the worst Thai food in San Diego actually.

in downtown with toddler..need suggestions for breakfast, lunch and dinner

The Mission in East Village is good for breakfast:

If you want good seafood and casual for lunch or dinner, there's Blue Water in Mission Hills just a short drive up the 5 from downtown. I'd suggest not going during dinner time as it can get busy, but they do find tables for you:

Small Bar San Diego

Yeah this place is great. I used to go to Hamilton's, then Toronado bc it was closer to home and now Small Bar is around the corner, so that's even better. I was there on Sat night around 11 and it was packed, but not terribly uncomfortable.

I think happy hour is from like 5-8? and it's $1 off of everything.

Greek Tilapia

I made this tonight and was very fast simple and little to no clean up. I forgot to get some bread for dipping the remaining sauce, so I saved the sauce and will get bread to go with it. Delicious!

Fennel, Avocado, and Mint Salad

This was great. I used walnut oil as I was unable to find pistachio oil at Henry's. I think I could have added a tad bit of sugar in the dressing to balance out the tartness of the lemons, but overall very good. So good that my gf ate it twice the next day and even told her employees about it. I haven't heard her rave over much I've made, but this she did.
