Daytona Beach for Birthday
Hi!
My boyfriend and I will be in Daytona Beach over his birthday (we're from philadelphia). I was wondering if anyone knew of a nice restaurant in the area (within a half hour drive of daytona). His birthday is on weekday, and I'm looking for something in the 100 dollar range for the two of us, including drinks. We're always looking to be adventurous and try new types of food. But old stand bys, like italian, are great too! Thanks in advance!
Great cakes in the Malvern-Devon area
Second Clay's Bakery, big, delicious, and moist. Some of the best icing!
State College area
Are you going to Arts Fest? The Arts Festival held in downtown state college in mid july. As for views in State College, you are not going to find anything too amazing downtown. For a little more upscale, I would recommend Zola's New World Bistro, contemporary cuisine, nice bar, and good atmopshere. Located on the corner of College and Atherton. If you are looking for something for College-town you can try the Corner Room, on the corner of Allen and College. It's been around for ages, serves basic sandwiches, hearty soups, etc. Zeno's is a famous bar in state college, next to the corner room. I have never had their food, but they have been written about in many magazines for their amazingly huge beer selection. I am sure they on this site somewhere if you do a search. Hope that helps some!
Thoughts on the "new" Victory Brewing?
Victory Brewing (Downingtown) just gave itself a face lift and a bit of a menu change. I visited there last weekend and was pleasantly suprised by the nice bar. I thought the restaurant was a bit loud, since it is a converted warehouse I guess its understandable. My boyfriend and I both got personal pizzas, which were excellent. I got Spinach and Artichoke, he got a Chicken Pesto. I was curious as to what other people thought? Anything on the menu there that people love?
In Philly for 4 Days
In Lancaster - I was surprised that people suggested shady maple. Although they do have quite the amazing breakfast buffet (with made in front of you pancakes and omelets), I would not suggest it for a lunch or dinner visit. Its country dutch with the ambiance of an Old Country Buffet.
Allegria in Exton
My family and I frequently go to Allegria. The food is great, as well as the atmosphere. I have never found the wife to have an inappropriate attitude. Maybe it something you are confusing for a stressed out european woman. We normally eat there around 9 at the end of the night, and she will come to the table and talk to us about her family and her old home Italy. She also makes an excellent tiramisu that she makes herself everyday. Her husband, the chef, is an excellent cook and also frequently comes out to talk to customers. Don't give up on Allegria!
Visit to Boston Memorial Day Weekend
Thanks! great suggestions! Does anyone know a place to get good breakfast?
Visit to Boston Memorial Day Weekend
We are staying at Club Quarters ... address 161 Devonshire St.
Visit to Boston Memorial Day Weekend
Hello - my boyfriend and I will be visiting Boston for Memorial Day Weekend. I was wondering if I could get some suggestions for essential Boston meals while we are there. We are 21 years old, so not too expensive. We appreciate a pub with great food, and we both love italian. But are pretty flexible with whatever! One night we will be willing to spend more money for a good seafood dinner. Thanks in advance!
Chinese Food in Chester Co???
I recommend China King Restaurant in Exton on Rt 100 or Super Wok off of Rt 113 in Chester Springs. All very, very close to Downingtown.
Good place to go in State College
I have never been to Faccia Luna, menu looks great - we'll try it soon! Is it BYO?
Good place to go in State College
I also recommend Zolas .. great food with a modern twist. Also, above the Corner Room, is Allen Street Grille. I've never been myself, but I know a lot of adults who go to escape the "typical college-town fare"
Italian in the Burbs
I am not sure where you are in MontCo, but in Lionville (Chester County), there is a little tucked away restaurant called Allegra. My family and I usually take people there. Its BYOB and the chef is from Sicily and his wife and daughters are waitress. Great food, great atmosphere, and EXCELLENT tiramisu.
Best British Bites?
I second the Whip, my boyfriends family just moved to Cochranville, PA and that is the first place they took us when we visited.
Lunch/Dinner Around UPenn
Thanks! New Deck definitly looks like our kind of place - we'll check it out!
Lunch/Dinner Around UPenn
My before and I will be at UPenn tomorrow for the taping of the Colbert Report (we are very excited!). Does anyone know of a good place to grab some lunch or dinner around there? Nothing too fancy for lunch, some good cheesesteaks or sandwiches.
