Wedding Venues in Northern NJ or Rockland county with great food

I second the recommendation for the Knoll Country Club! We had our wedding there 4 years ago and were sooo happy with the food, venue and service. They have 2 rooms (East and West) with very different styles to choose from, but they are not even in the same building, so you won't be running into guests from another party. Their prices were within your range 4 years ago, and for the amount of food and options that they offer, it's well worth it.

NJ best wedding catering halls

We went to a wedding at Valley Regency 5-6 years ago and loved it. The bride was thrilled with the way they handled her wedding as well. We held our reception at Knoll Country Club in Parsippany and could not have been happier with everything there. Everyone raved about the food and venue, and their prices were surprisingly reasonable. This was 4 years ago, but it's worth a look. If your daughter is still looking at venues, I highly recommend she look at the Knoll!

La Famiglia on Main Street in Bogota. It's a little family run place, with basic but good Italian fare. You can eat in and BYO, or call to take out.

Anyone have a favorite BYO in Northern NJ?

Marra's in Roseland-- Italian, very small and kind of hidden away, but wonderful food, reasonably priced, great service.
La Famiglia in Bogota-- traditional Italian fare, also very good

Best pizza in Vegas!!!

Settebello's is not closed! They've moved to the District in Green Valley, on the same side as Whole Foods, not on the casino side. Definitely one of my favorite pizza places in Las Vegas/ Henderson.

What Food Job Would You Like?

I'd really like the chairman's job on Iron Chef America. He just hams it up for a while, then gets to taste at least 10 amazing dishes, with none of the pressure to score the dishes like the judges have. Pretty sweet, if you ask me.

"Liverwish" sandwiches? (New Jersey-isms)

That's funny, my husband and I joke that the northernmost Wawa is the "official" dividing line between north and south jersey.

Boston Butt in a crock pot

I second that! I use Tyler Florence's recipe for oven roasted pulled pork, but cook it in the slow cooker, with a little water and apple cider vinegar. It tastes amazing! So tender, it's impossible to pull the whole thing out in one piece. Great and easy way to feed a crowd.

London Broil

I have a large boneless beef round steak that I would like to use for London broil. I know london broil is usually made with flank or top round steak. So, my question is, would a whole round steak be OK, or would it be tough? Thanks!

04/08 Tr J has just made The Perfect Cuban Sandwich that much easier!

An authentic Cuban sandwich is roasted pork, ham and swiss cheese on Cuban bread with dill pickles, maybe some yellow mustard. Definitely NO chipotle anywhere near the thing. Chipotle is not used in any traditional Cuban dish that I've ever heard of. Sorry to be a stickler, but it's a pet peeve of mine when people think all latin cuisines are the same. No spicy peppers in Cuban cooking!
